As well as using the canoe provided, campers are also welcome to hike the marked and groomed waterfront hiking trails throughout the 56 acre property, and just down the road is Mt.Moriah, a Buddhist Center, and numerous backcountry trails, reserves, and lakes. ATV's are permitted on the road, (gateway to trails to Lingham, Deer Rock, Caniff, and Skootamatta Lakes) and friendly dogs are welcome off leash. This is a unique gelogical landscape, situated between Mt. Moriah, the Elzevir pluton complex and the Black River in an ultramafic zone, with coloured quartz veins and pillowed granite outcroppings. Mixed forest with varied species of deciduous and conifer trees - due to aerial seeding after a forest fire over 80 years ago, leaving charred stumps that can still be found from natural char preservation. Home to pileated woodpeckers, hawks, eagles and kingfishers, otters, fishers, salamanders, brown river trout and everything in between, either from the vantage of a hammock or on a hike in the forest this natural site won't disappoint.

Fifthwind farm is located high on a hilltop in Northumberland county. Our farm is only 10 minutes north of Cobourg yet feels tranquil and remote. The view is spectacular…on a clear day New York State is visible.
Our Bunkie is fully insulated and cozy on cold winter nights. The Northumberland Forest is quite close and it offers many cross-country ski trails.
Because of the cold weather, our outdoor shower it’s not operable during the winter months. The Bunkie does not have running water, but water is provided, and the sink can still be used.
There is a large bonfire area on our farm, (a little bit away from the Bunkie) also a play area for kids including zip line, boat structure, sand box, swing, above ground pool and trampoline; gorgeous circular organic garden with seating area and a small orchard. Our Bunkie is fully insulated and cozy on cold winter nights. The Northumberland Forest is quite close and it offers many cross-country ski trails.
Because of the cold weather, our outdoor shower it’s not operable during the winter months. The Bunkie does not have running water, but water is provided, and the sink can still be used.
There is a large bonfire area on our farm, (a little bit away from the Bunkie) also a play area for kids including zip line, boat structure, sand box, swing, above ground pool and trampoline; gorgeous circular organic garden with seating area and a small orchard. Ridgeview - Lot 1 gave us some incredible Instagram-worthy moments by the river! The trees on the property offered the perfect balance of shade and sunlight exactly where we wanted it, making it easy to set up our tents and hammock to relax. :)
We really appreciated the tented picnic table that Daric provided - it served as a critter-safe storage space for our food at night and a convenient prep area during the day. It was also located just a few steps away from the propane BBQ grill, which made cooking super easy.
There were two firepits to choose from, and we were provided with plenty of firewood for our stay. The canoe (with paddles and life jackets) and a set of bicycles were a great bonus - such a fun way to explore the area!
Daric stopped by to introduce himself and check in on us, which we really appreciated. He's a great host.
We also liked that the parking spot wasn't right next to the tent site but a little up the way—it gave the campground a more peaceful, secluded vibe.
Overall, a fantastic stay. Highly recommended!

Thank you Marie and Alison for making our all too short stay just wonderful! We enjoyed our time at your farm so much! This is our first experience with Hipcamp so weren't really sure what to expect. We were just looking for a place to stay during a geocaching event but our Hipcamp hosts went above and beyond to make it so much more! Not only have we found ourselves a new "home base" when we're in the area, but we feel like we've found new friends.
The RV site is great! Closest site to the road but there is very little traffic. All in all much quieter than a Provincial Park campsite. The other sites are scattered around the perimeter of the property so they're far enough away that you can't really hear anything from them. This site was great because you have a really good view of the open area (great for stargazing) and the vegetable garden (take a tour of that with Marie or Alison). They have a beautiful lighted Gazebo and fire pit in the middle if you'd like to gather with other campers for games or a bit of social time. They've done a massive amount of work to make their camp comfortable and cozy and seem to always have an eye to what they can improve (although I thought it was pretty much perfect).
Thanks again Alison & Marie! We just got home last night and enjoyed ourselves so much we're already planning our next trip back!

The site was nice quite and private. There was ample equipment to use a canoe a barbeque and a bug tent with a picnic table chairs some bikes. The rest room was clean and had some great books lots of useful items to make camping fun. We didn't find the bugs all that bad. What did happen though is it was so hot there was a heat warning. I had to leave early due to health conditions. I told Deric and he adjusted my camping fee and I got some money back. That really was a surprise, Daric gets a number one host rating with me.

We had a terrific time camping by the lakeside. Cory and Heather upgraded us to the lakefront site and it couldn't have been more perfect for us. We went kayaking, swimming and hiking. Forest is full of dry wood for fires and offers privacy like no other place we've been. Loved it, 10/10 we will be back!
