A quiet retreat for self-contained campers. Come for the stillness. Stay for the soul-soothing beauty. Tucked away in the rolling countryside of Stone Mills, Ontario, Salmon River Sanctuary is a peaceful private off-grid escape where nature does the talking. Nestled along the quiet banks of the Salmon River, our sites offer a simple, spacious place to reconnect- with yourself, with loved ones, and with the land. With little to no light pollution, nights here sparkle in the open skies for stargazing. *Sorry, there is currently no fire pits or fires. Bring your canoe, kayak, or just float along the river. If it's a hot dry summer you may need to access water deep enough, down the river. Or you can read or journal by the river or simply enjoy the sounds of birds and breeze. There is a flat, cleared area for self-contained vans or RV's with access to the river. It's currently a rustic, no-frills setup- please pack in and out and be prepared for a true nature stay. *Currently no toilet or drinking water on-site. You must be self contained - all septic and grey water must leave with you. No on-site dumping. Whether you're seeking a stop over between destinations, solitude, a romantic weekend under the stars, or a quiet base to explore the surrounding lakes and trails, Salmon River Sanctuary offers a return to what really matters. Left Riverside Campsite is a beautiful flat grassy space on the banks of Salmon River. Guests are welcome to bring a canoe or paddleboard and head down stream if waters are high enough. You may even try your luck at fishing....if you are legal. On site guests must stay on the short grass to avoid trespassing on neighbours property. There is roughly about 400 sq feet + on this site with a view of possibly one other group about 150 feet away. There is no bathroom or water amenities here. Guests will need to be self contained, take waste with them and leave no trace.
