We purchased this farm in 1998 from the previous farmer who had owned it since 1929. The train line ran right by the gate where the Kota hut now sits and would drop cattle right there to be finished and sold later at the Toronto Stockyards. Our barn was built in 1890 with the old farmhouse located across the creek. Two creeks meet the Grand River on our farm. The bunkie is situated north of the barn and faces Willow creek. During the summer the creek gets quite shallow but there are a couple of pools that work nicely for a float with our river tubes. The river also has a small swimming hole. The bunkie is nestled between 2 hills which creates a natural little valley. Campers can take a walk around the property or use the nearby long walking trail. New this spring, campers will be able to enjoy the firewood sauna, located close to the bunkie and nestled in a private spot near the creek.

We purchased this farm in 1998 from the previous farmer who had owned it since 1929. The train line ran right by the gate where the Kota hut now sits and would drop cattle right there to be finished and sold later at the Toronto Stockyards. Our barn was built in 1890 with the old farmhouse located across the creek. Two creeks meet the Grand River on our farm. The bunkie is situated north of the barn and faces Willow creek. During the summer the creek gets quite shallow but there are a couple of pools that work nicely for a float with our river tubes. The river also has a small swimming hole. The bunkie is nestled between 2 hills which creates a natural little valley. Campers can take a walk around the property or use the nearby long walking trail. Beth was the best host anyone could ask for! The bungalow was cut clean and comfortable We had amenities for tea coffee and she was even so kind that she shared some drinks with us because the liquor store was closed. She also provided us with a microwave that was not originally included and it did come in very handy. We felt like we bonded immediately. The hot tub was a delight and heated porch area. Beth was kind enough to allow us to use her bathroom for a shower and it was not ackward at all. We had plenty of privacy. I would highly recommend staying her as it was not expensive at all.

Spring Arbour bunkie was a magical experience for my husband and me. Although we were alone in the forest on our mid fall trip, we felt such a sense of peace cozied up in the glow of the wood stove. What a thrill to go up for a scenic ride in Erik’s ultra light two seater plane. We really lucked out finding this hipcamp. The instructions were excellent and the hosts very responsive.

Location and Accommodation: 4.5/5 The bunkie was great. Very cozy and comfortable. It was fantastic to have access both the forested area, and an open field for watching the sunset/sunrise or stars at night. Highly recommend this location in the fall when the leaves are changing. Close to Backus Woods, where I had a lovely hike as well. Host Communication: 1/5 I was given too much information. Bombarded with four different text walls of instructions, rules etc. all saying almost the same thing but slightly differently (or contradicting one another sometimes). The only personal communication (aside from several pre-written ones) I received from hosts was a message that said "Okay only if you need please ##########." This was in response to my request that we communicate by phone number once I leave my house since I do not have internet on my phone. Honestly, it made me feel like I was bothering them if I had questions while I was there - and I did end up having questions about how to safely operate the air intake on the woodstove but I just decided to keep it to myself. Value: 3.5/5 This place was awesome, but a touch expensive. After paying an extra $22 for firewood (necessary - it was close to 0C at night) and cleaning fees (I did all the cleaning because I was told to leave it better than I found it. There are not even sheets to change) it was 270 for 2 nights. At that rate, I expect to at least be welcomed by the hosts. Overall, would return (after trying other spots)

We had an amazing stay at the cozy cabin! The beach was just 5 minutes away, making it perfectly convenient for watching sunrise and sunsets. Traveling with our 14-month-old, we felt completely safe and comfortable and the space was very baby-friendly. Gisele and Vik were thoughtful and welcoming hosts, making sure we had everything we needed. We made so many wonderful memories as a family and would love to come back again!

I liked the signage which made it easy to navigate. There’s The Danish Place nearby which is also cool. Was only there for one sleep but was a nice stop on my way back to Ottawa.

Fantastic little well-equipped bunkie with excellent privacy on a quiet and spacious lot! Chris and Denise were wonderful and very easygoing hosts who ensured our group had what we needed and gave us a quick tour of the site before giving us free range for the duration of our stay. The shop has an impressive array of trailers onsite to gander at while there, and the shop building bathroom was a nice luxury to have for group camping. Loved our time there, a very unique spot to spend some time.

Established in 1870 as a mixed farm for new immigrants to Canada to settle and begin their new life in Canada. In the early days the farm housed dairy cattle and pigs. Had pastures for cattle to graze and grew corn and wheat for cattle feed. In the 1980's the farm was rented by the University of Guelph to house their goat research livestock. Our family purchased the farm in 1998 to raise our daughters. The farm is located beside Trish's home farm, where she was a dairy farmers daughter growing up. Dean was raised on a beef farm.
