Clearwater BC is the gateway to Wells Gray Provincial Park which is home to over 40 named waterfalls, more than 200 kms of trail systems, exciting wildlife, and rich history. We are located 130 kms North from Kamloops in the heart of the Thompson Valley and on route to Jasper National Park.
In the summer, there is an abundance of outdoor recreation activities. Whitewater rafting is our most popular activity by leaps and bounds! There is also swimming, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paragliding, jet boat tours, canoeing, kayaking, and mountain biking to name a few. We also have a vibrant farmer's market with fresh and local grown and made items. There is music in the park, car shows, kayak festival, and so much more!
In the winter months, there is ice fishing, sledding, snowshoeing, ice climbing, and the waterfalls are spectacular when they are frozen!

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful.
We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents.
There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna!
The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away!
Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed.

Positives: Great wifi, pristine washrooms/showers, site 4 nice river view, friendly/helpful hosts who allowed us a late checkout so we could ride the bike trails before leaving, happily charged the trailer and filled up the water tank before heading back off grid.
Slight negative: a little close to the road (but did not disturb sleep), sites have no privacy from each other, expensive (but our views are warped as we had been camping for free/$7.50/max of $35 per night till this point and this was our treat/regroup/check emails/refill/repower night)

The campsite is in a beautiful location, especially site 4 where we were, with a view of the river. Everyone has their privacy. Everything is very well maintained and the washrooms are always clean. We really appreciated the shower mat.

Great little site by the river. Only 8 RV places and we weee the only RV there during our stay. The washrooms were outstanding. They were clean and well equipped. Fully serviced site with a beautiful beach across the road and a lake that you can swim in. There is a discount on the white water rafting down the road if you are staying at this site. We had a fabulous 2 nights in our RV here. The location next to river was beautiful, the showers were great and it was a lovely change away from larger campgrounds. We had an amazing time white water rafting and visiting waterfalls and swimming in Dutch Lake which was a short walk away. Highly recommended. We wish we had planned to stay for longer
