Second time here and I hope to keep coming back! Didn't have any issues on the roads with my SUV. the campsite is perfectly maintained and close to the outhouse. There was some firewood there for us. The river area had lots of tall grass but totally worth it for the private beach!! Tons of raspberry bushes and we even found some blueberries! Its the only beach I can take my dogs to as they're fearful of stranger dogs and we love coming here so much!!

If you are looking for a rustic hideaway in the woods, this is your spot. The site is a cozy nook off of the shared road, and you will feel like the only people on earth. The little outhouse is an unexpected plus!
There are train tracks, with frequent trains, however there was no whistle, so it didn’t bother us at all.
I wouldn’t recommend the road in, with a small car.

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 boys and doggo. We loved the spot, it was so private, very close to wells gray for hiking and we felt completely immersed in nature. There was even your very own outhouse that made our stay that much more comfortable. We enjoyed the short hike down to the river and got to watch a bear on the other side catching his dinner. The site is close to the train tracks so you frequently have the noise of trains going by, but we didn’t mind it at all. The ground is slightly sloped, but not terribly…just make sure to pitch your tent so your heads uphill.
We enjoyed our stay overall and would definitely return. Thank you Shelagh for hosting us!

Fantastic stay I received great directions from the owner and was warned about the road ahead of time. The site itself is private and large - and the new outhouse is a nice feature. Our favorite part was the private beach - we stayed there so long we didn't have time for our itinerary at Wells Gray!

Great stay here! Camp was set up well with table, fire pit and outhouse. It was cool to hear the trains going by, soothing without the whistles like you find in the city. The river is a bit of a walk but absolutely beautiful to sit on the sand down there. Would return!

It was a nice quiet spot to camp. Definitely gives the vibe of total seclusion from society despite knowing there is a community nearby. It was great watching the stars while we fell asleep. We will definitely re book this spot when traveling through again.

This site is very close to the description, but even more magical!
Shelagh and her family are wonderfully friendly and have created the most tranquil site I have been to yet!
The site is nestled in the woods with a comfy table and bench close to the fire pit. They even provided some wood for me to have a fire.
There’s complete privacy here, save for a truck or two that uses the road to service the train tracks that are near by. The train does go by every now and then which is kind of cool to go watch.
I found there was so much to explore at this site! Including the river that’s a short walk away and little trails and fields that me and my little dog frequented.
There’s also wildlife in abundance here, which is beautiful. If you decide to stay here, you should take precautions to keep yourself protected from the wildlife and to protect the wildlife as well.
If you are looking for a wilderness adventure that has the feeling of being the only person around for miles, this is it!

Wells Gray Provincial Park
Surrounded by serene landscapes and immense waterfalls, campers can immerse themselves in the beauty of Wells Gray Provincial Park. HIke to Helmcken Falls or Spahats Falls and marvel at the raw power of nature. Then explore Trophy Mountain and Moul Falls trails to see wildlife and waterfalls. Campers who are more inclined to water adventures can canoe or kayak on Clearwater Lake or Azure Lake. After a day in the park, settle into nearby cabins or campgrounds for tents and RVs with amenities like electrical hookups, clean facilities, and picnic areas.
Dutch Lake
Embark on a waterfront adventure and camp right beside Dutch Lake. The lake’s warm waters are spring fed, which makes swimming, kayaking, canoeing, or boating popular activities to do while there. Anglers will also enjoy fishing for various species such as rainbow trout and kokanee. With hiking trails that wind through nearby forests, campers can also spend time out of the water to spot local wildlife like the bald eagle.
