Elk Island Getaway is located 20 minutes east of Edmonton and 7 minutes from HWY 16 main entrance of Elk Island Park, Alberta.
We are also right by Elk Island Park, in addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, it is a great place for all your hiking, picnicking, biking, canoeing and kayaking needs.
When you enter Elk Island National Park you will know immediately that you have entered an oasis of calm. For years people have come to the picturesque park to escape the city life, explore the outdoors and connect with nature.
Come and experience the dark sky preserve in our area that features an amazing opportunity to star gaze and to view the Northern Lights.
We have 8 campsites available for tent, van, small motorhome, and small trailers.
Some sites accommodate large trailers.
Our group site is sites 7 and 8 please inquire if interested in this option.
We offer firewood upon *availability* for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of Tamarack wood. Please note that supply may be limited at times, as well as our availability, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability.
Pets welcome on leash and owners are responsible for clean-up.
This is a camper-maintained campground.
Please take your trash with you at the end of your stay.

2 nights at Fairfolk Farm
We loved staying at Fairfolk Farm! The cabin was very cozy despite the dreary weather outside. The kitchen was perfect for the two of us, and we got some eggs, jam, and veg from Pinette to supplement the groceries we got.
It was just a short drive to Elk Island, so perfect for a hike. Definitely a highlight of the month, and we’d love to come back!

Beautiful, serene, quiet, very well maintained. We could see every star in the sky, and it is so close to Elk Island Park, it made sightseeing easy! A lot of coyotes at night - mind your pets and bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper - that was the only sound we heard. Would highly recommend this spot.

It was very windy and cold when we were out there but still enjoyed our stay..eggs that we ordered were awesome... since it was so windy the bambies were hiding.. on the last morning before leaving, deer came out.. we will be back.

Beautiful place, cute goats and welcoming owners. We were notified that the place was not ready for us yet, as we booked a place a bit too late. Making the host ( Rachel and her husband) worried that it will not be up to our standard. Matter of fact, it was beyond our expectations regardless. They provided us with a nice grill, water and a clean table, they even wanted to give us some fresh eggs! Hope to come visit soon again, as we were not able to thank you in person. Thank you very much!

Very nice pond to camp next to, the grounds are nice to walk around as well.
The firewood delivery was excellent, We never ran out and it burned well.

Great Site and hosts! With only being a short drive from Edmonton, this is a hidden gem. Kara and Dan are quick to respond to inquiries and requests. The grounds are clean, well maintained, and vibrant. The water feature is aerated so the is no stagnant water smell. The wood totes are of a good size for the cost and come with some kindling. The wood was cut into good size pieces and dry! The farm fresh eggs were some of the best eggs I've had in a while with large yolks.
The campsites are well spaced out with some co-located for groups. There is obvious signs of improvement and tree planting which speaks to Kara and Dan's dedication to being great hosts.
I camped with a large group and a dog which needed 2 sites. Kara and Dan made great suggestions which improved our experience.
I look forward to booking next season.

We were pleasantly surprised by how lovely the cabin was. Kara and Dan was also very nice in letting us setup a surprise proposal for my sister. The place was peaceful and quiet. It was a perfect place to unwind. The stars were beautiful at night. Would also mention that I was kinda hesitant on using the porta potty but to my surprise it was very clean unlike other porta potties I've seen in other camping areas. It's a great place to go to when you want to have a getaway that's not too far from the city. Would definitely come back!

Campsite 6 is a little further from the others and we could barely hear the other campers from there. Highly recommend this spot if you're not camping with a larger group! The hosts were very responsive and helpful, and the land is beautiful!

This camp area is everything Hipcamp sites should be plus more! Beautiful, freshly mowed, private sites. Away from the main house, quiet, peaceful, with a picnic table for ease and comfort. Lovely walk around the mown paths around the pond and beyond. We loved staying here and would have liked to have stayed on longer. Excellent in every way!

A cozy spot with everything we needed for an easy get away from Edmonton. Beautiful walking trails and 5 minute drive from a little lake with lots of wildlife. The dogs Cooey and Ruger were great hosts as well!

This experience was hands down one of the most memorable times for myself and the ones I shared it with.
The cost was beyond reasonable.
If anyone is looking to create any life long lasting memories, this is by far your best bet.
The host and her family are very accommodating, yet allow for the privacy you are hoping to achieve by getting out of the city in the first place.
The property is breathtakingly beautiful and very well kept. Very enjoyable and not once problem or inconvenience arose for us, I couldnt have imagined a better result considering what we were looking to obtain.
I would highly recommend this property and I know I will definitely have this at the top of my list going forward.

Loved this spot! We stayed in site 6, it was farther away from everyone not a lot of trees but a killer view. Definitely want to come back again. Port-a-potty was clean and stocked. 10/10.
