Description

A mile plus in the sky, Deer Park Campground (tent-only) is home to views unrivaled by all others in the park. Imagine it: peak after peak of the Olympic Mountains staring through your tent door while you sip an espresso and “What's that? The Salish Sea? I think so and over yonder, the strait of Juan De Fuca!” Can you say creme de la creme? Amenities may be limited, but you have to admit getting to watch the both sunrise and sunset from your sleeping bag makes the sacrifice well worth it.

Drop...dead...gorgeous! Can't imagine any place more scenic and peaceful. Too bad there is a 14 night limit/year or I would have taken up full time residence! The road up is a bit 'white-knuckly', but 10 and 2 and take it slow. Once you've managed the 45 or so minutes up the road from Hwy. 101, you have a choice of three different areas to camp (I got lucky with a great spot in Area B). No water, but the pit toilet facilities are beautifully maintained. There is also a nice fire pit and picnic table at each site. Wildlife is friendly, sometimes too friendly...so pack away all your food. I recommend this campground to everyone, it has to be one of the best camping spots in the PNW, hands down.
