Past trip
in Delta Respite, CaliforniaIdyllic cabin for a relaxing escape
The cabin was idyllic. Very clean and cozy. It had beautiful rustic touches and I felt like I was in the woods. Even though it is right next to the main house, Steve and his wife give you everything you need and privacy. Their ranch has chickens, roosters and rescue dogs (willy is a cutie). All the animals gave a farm feel that was relaxing for me. I needed a getaway to help work on an interview thatâs coming up and I was able to get that done.
The cabin offers wifi, so I was able to stream movies and shows as well. The areaâs sunset was beautiful and although I didnât get a chance to step out, the area is great for walks and nature seeing. Lots of birds and a family of owls said hello in the distance.

Past trip
in Campsite 1, CaliforniaI needed a last minute place to stay, while visiting a good friend in Carpinteria. Hotel prices down there are outrageous and I love nature. While desperately searching, I found HipCamp and this gem. May I say, the campsite at Chris's land is phenomenal. The space is large, clean and comfy. It is exposed to the elements, but the afternoon breeze cools it down. During my weekend stay, it was in the high 90s and I had forgotten my shade and a chair. Chris was welcoming. She welcomed me in with a bottle of delicious red wine and fresh eggs. She also let me borrow her camp chair and helped me readjust the set-up to make use of some tree shade. Chris also gave me great tips and showed me the other campsites. All campsites are separated enough to give every group privacy and all have little restrooms that look out to the mountains. This place is a gem to get away from the northern smoke, busy city life and work. There is no cell reception and the locals love that. Very kind people. I also recommend The Place, little tavern minutes from Chris' place. Alec, the current owner, was super welcoming and we had a great conversation over ice cold beer. The best moment is at night. The night sky lights up with all the constellations and I saw a shooting star. A must stay for it's reasonable location and price. I am def coming back with family and friends.
