Past trip
in The Meadow Grove of Hands Full Farm, CaliforniaThe Grove is a very chill quiet spot right between the outskirts of Petaluma and Bodega Bay. Simple, private, rustic and even convenient. Highlights are the cows on the hillside, the little cat that wanders around, and the AMAZING outhouse. In all my days I have never encountered a nicer composting toilet â it smells so nice in there like fresh sawdust and itâs so naturally clean. Truly never thought Iâd write a public review about an amazing toilet but here we are, itâs that good.
Past trip
in Old West Mountain Camping Near LA!, CaliforniaNice remote tent site, close to la
This is a pretty rustic spot in what feels like the back area of a ranch property, set up in the hills down some dirt roads. Itâs so quiet at night and the views of the hills are beautiful. Allen was really responsive and super clear in his communications. Itâs so remote and yet so close to âcivilizationâ in LA... Iâd definitely camp here again.

in Camp Rio, New MexicoLooks good for rv, but not for tent
Jason C.doesn't recommend this listing.
(Dispersed site)
Not a great spot for tent camping. There are no marked tent sites, just some set-aside areas without dividers. One of the three tent areas was too wet to be used (in August). On our second night we had extremely loud neighbors partying very close to us until about 2am. The camp host (Chip, not the âClayâ listed on all the Hipcamp messages) was asleep (lucky him!) Itâs not like me to write a negative review! But when me and my kids left this place we all had a desire to help future tent folks avoid this one.

This is a great place to camp halfway between sleeping in nature and being close to modern conveniences. Huge starry skies, overlooking a canyon. Lots of heat. plenty of shade. Iâd definitely recommend the experience.
Jason hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
