This campsite comes with a mix of positives and challenges. It's conveniently located and offers spacious sites, making it easy for a quick stopover. However, the proximity to an abattoir means that an unpleasant smell can permeate the area, which might not be to everyone's liking. Some campers have also noted issues with noise and cleanliness, particularly in the communal kitchen and bathroom facilities.
We had a very rough trip on the road that day and being able to book and pay ahead of time and check in at any time was wonderful. Amenities were clean and spacious as was the site. Very happy
The site was pretty good but more crowded and less natural than the eco camp style sites I prefer.
Totally practical, convenient access, and within range of domino’s delivery haha.
The abattoir smell was quite intense - manageable in my bus and tolerable considering I was just passing through.
Noisiest campsite we had on our trip; it felt like more of a shift workers camp than anything else- people coming & going at odd hours, in the kitchens & the showers.
Lovely staff in reception - very helpful.
Maybe check this place out if you’re a young international backpacker needing local work.
We only needed a quick overnight stay & we left early. Not for us.
Not a bad site - best sites would be down the end near the creek, very busy park - caters more to the longer term workers looking for a base rather than families/tourists, not very private and a lot of come and go traffic late into the night/early morning.
When I arrived at the reception, my booking was not in their system, however they had a few spare spaces for me so I didn't have to go somewhere around, which was good even it was under school holiday season.
That was my first time to use power site ever for our Motor House, all experiences were new to me and the reception staff was kindly explained everything for me so it was a good part too.
My site was just next to the highway so it's been noisy a bit until midnight but it can't be helped.
There were plenty units of hot shower, that was a good part too.
So next time, I will book superior site instead of near the highway site for sure.
There was a river next to the site however it was low tide so we could not catch any fishes unfortunately because my son was looking forward to it.
Anyway, I think we will be back again next time.
Thank you very much for having us.
The staff were lovely but be aware this campground is right next to the Bruce Highway and the train tracks and is very, very noisy. Facilities are ramshackle and overrun. Probably the worst campground we’ve stayed in for a long time, sorry owners!
It’s our 2nd time staying here. Hosts are great. Place is tidy. Easy directions to follow after a long day of driving. We arrived after hours and we were given an easy site to get into - made for a great overnight stay. We will be back!
Nothing like the pictures, pretty much a full campsite that doubles as a travellers hostel. Loud music playing at 6am and constant traffic coming through all night and day
A decent place for needing somewhere to stop over a night in Mackay, but I just can't recommend it. The mozzies here were pretty bad, I got 15 bites over 48 hours, even with 3 types of DEET and repellant, plus citronella candle burning. I've left a more in-depth review on Google reviews.
Firstly the coordinates to the property were very wrong, about 10km or more in the wrong direction!
We did enjoy our stay, however it was very different to what we were expecting from the photos.
The lady at checkin was amazing and very accomodating to help us pick the best site.
Ammenities were nice and new and clean.
Loved camping at Mycow in Mackay. Lovely spacious site. Clean amenities. Nice spot for fishing too. Loved that my puppy was welcome as she is part of our family.
Site was okay, green grass. They're angled sites so it worked for what we needed. Just a place for the night.
The constant traffic sound we weren't a fan of, but it's just the location.
The amenities were great, large hot showers. Clean. The kitchen area is big and nice.
This would be okay for a one night driving through but even then due to traffic noise from highway A1 behind the campground and train tracks on the other side it’s very noisy. The showers were good and the location near Mackay were great.
The facilities were fantastic. Went to stay for 2 nights & stayed for 5. The park is well maintained & loved the fishing outlooks over the creek & off leash dog park at the back of the park. Couldn’t of been more happy with the stay. All the staff were so friendly & felt at home while staying there. The knowledge provided of tourist attractions helped also give me the best experience while in Mackay. Returning in a few months on my way back through Qld. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Thanks for having me & my dog visit 😀🐶
