31km from Dthinna Dthinnawan National Park · 5 sites · Tents, RVsGoat Rock Camping Ground is a 200-acre bush camping destination set on a working 8,000-acre sheep and goat farm. Located approximately 16 km south of Texas, Queensland, on the New South Wales border, it is known for its dramatic granite boulders and panoramic views of the Dumaresq River valley.
Our family loves to share our unique piece of the Aussie bush with people who enjoy getting away from it all and appreciating peace and quiet. Campers can choose their own sites—close to amenities or tucked away for more privacy.
There is plenty of bushland and granite boulders to explore—a photographer’s dream and a birdwatcher’s paradise!
The camping ground is named after a large granite boulder, Goat Rock, which provides an amazing lookout over the Texas area.
This is a special place, and we want our guests to have a lovely time—but we also ask that visitors respect that this is our home, so a number of basic rules apply.
We have an on-site café and function centre, The Shed, which operates most Sundays. Monthly buffet breakfasts and other events occur throughout the year. Make a weekend of it and enjoy a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning!
Our local town of Texas, Queensland, is just 16 km away and offers a great range of shopping options, including a grocery store, Mitre 10, pharmacy, takeaways, a pub, bowls club, golf club, and more. Enjoy swimming and fishing in the Dumaresq River at the bridge, or venture out to Glenlyon Dam. The town also features an art gallery, craft shop, Rabbit Freezing Works Museum, and Texas Heritage Centre—all great insights into the local area.
