This camp was in a great location close to
Puffing Billy. The hosts were easy to communicate with and the outlook at the site was lovely. We didn't end up staying at the Platypus site but perhaps it was for the best as the weather was less than ideal. The jam is delicious. Thank you very much for having us.

We had the best time tent camping over the long weekend and will definitely be back in the future!
Jana was an incredible host, providing clear instructions, firewood and even towing both our cars out on the last day!
If there’s been rain or rain is predicted I would recommend having 4WD access at this site however Jana came to the rescue towing us out and making sure we got home safe!
Toilets and a sink to wash your hands were a bonus too and always clean and stocked with toilet paper.
Thanks again Jana, your property was beautiful and your hospitality put a cherry on top of a great weekend.

Beautiful little spot, private and so relaxing! Would love to come back when it’s warm enough to swim in the water.
A lot of reviews were mentioning that the ground is uneven. This was clearly mentioned in the description and is no issue if you have some levellers.
We had an awesome weekend, there is a fireplace too and it’s so very quiet. Loved our stay.

the spot was very lovely, and a great distance from any local towns. it feels far away enough to be isolated but also just 20 minute drive if you wanna grab some food or supplies. jana is also a great host and very personable and friendly. would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time camping at Yarra. The place feels calm and close to nature — the perfect escape from busy life. Although it’s part of a berry farm, the farms are nicely scattered across the landscape, so it never feels like you’re inside one. Our campsite was well away from the farm sections, giving us great privacy and a real sense of solitude.
A special mention to Janaka, the manager, who was incredibly welcoming and always available if we needed anything. He dropped off a huge pile of firewood for us and took the time to share his knowledge about the local wildlife and how the farm operates. His hospitality really made the experience even better.
It’s a peaceful, family-friendly place surrounded by beautiful nature — perfect for anyone looking to relax and reconnect with the outdoors. Highly recommended!

It was a great little spot to spend a night and let the pup roam free. Other camp sites were far enough away that we didn’t hear and see others unless going to the shared toilet.
As others have mentioned it is quite a slanty site.
There was only one kayak ready to go, the rest were full of water etc.

What a beautiful location. Drove it to collect our welcome info and a wombat walked through the field next to us. Our camp site was a little challenging finding flat and level ground so definitely a small site. Otherwise being beside the water was magnificent and we were far enough away from anyone to feel like we were all alone. Perfect for our small family of 4 plus dog. We will be back.

Beautiful and peaceful location! Jana was a great host and kindly showed us to our site.
We had the place to ourselves apart from wallabies and wombats. It was great to allow our dog off lead and we loved exploring the huge site.
We used the plumbed toilets up at the main farm building, and also had a tap there to refill our water.
We would definitely come back again.

A peaceful and quiet campsite, immersed in nature, big and feeling private. The site is more beautiful than the photos you see on Hipcamp. My dog loves running freely to explore and enjoy her best life😄. The pond/lake and the creek are the highlights! Surrounded by berry bushes, it’s winter so no berries or leaves yet but I can imagine how beautiful when it’s summer 😁
Only one hour from south east suburbs , nice weekend getaway.

First just wanted to highlight that maps on your phone can take you to the wrong entrance, and on a very dodgy 4wd track. If your GPS or phone is taking you to a dirt road it's the wrong way! (This in no way effects my review, just a PSA for others. We got stuck on on 4wd track for 1.5hrs with a vintage caravan and an AWD. It was scary!)
Now the review:
The platypus site is the prettiest site, with a gorgeous water view, pier, kayaks table and chairs on offer, along with a fire pit. Stunning.
Jana was lovely and very accommodating, graciously allowing us to leave later (a Monday).
The only real downfall is this is a working farm, which means the owner needs to use his tractor (fair enough!) which does cause damage to the ground, creating an uneven surface with mud and turned up dirt/grass, which does create a bit of a challenge to walk and drive around on.
The platypus site is also the side of a hill, so the only flat and hard enough area for a small caravan or 2, is about 30m away from where the beautiful view is. So this means you'll likely set up your fire pit, chairs, camp kitchen, gazebo etc near the view, but well away from your van. The hill is too dicey to drive a caravan on and not get bogged unfortunately (and too slanted).
If an excavator was easily available, perhaps a plateau could be created nearer to the view to make it easier to enjoy, and to level out some of the dips etc. Thankfully only one person had a fall but didn't get injured.

Lovely hipcamp! Jana was a great host, moved us to Platypus site as we were concerned about the wet ground and no 4wd- what a beautiful spot! So much amazing nature, very peaceful and private - previous reviews mention it being on a slope which much of it is, but we found an easy flat spot for a large tent just fine. The free firewood and fire pit made the bitter winter night much easier - must remember to come back in summer to get the kayaks out on the lake. Great location too, near enough to Yarra Valley spots and Dandenongs but still feels off the beaten track.
Just note if you’re driving from the south (Peninsula) that directions take you the wrong way up Eacotts Road to a dead-end - make sure to follow written instructions to find the junction on the booking.

Lovely location with a beautifully open and secluded area that has a mystic foggy view in the morning (I went in August). It was my first time camping with my partner and was struggling with the fire with the dampness but Jana helped us with such positive attitude. So so grateful, we would love to visit again sometime!

Private site, no intrusion, welcoming host, all added to our experience which we thoroughly enjoyed. Flushing toilets a short stroll away were a bonus. The kids had fun running around and we even got on the boat and kayaks for a little while in the dam. The life jackets provided were very thoughtful, gave us peace of mind. Overall the campsite was in an ideal and secluded location on a massive property.
The host was incredible and his attention to detail and ensuring we got to the right location was more than anticipated.
If you're camping in winter be aware that you are next to a pond so temp will feel colder and also humid.
Something that it's worth noting that not many reviews mention is that the surface is uneven and limits, in our case, roof tent set up.
Finally the portable toilet was quite clean and no issues with using it. Even my partner used it which is quite rare.
This spot is recommended of a easy going camping experience.

Loved our stay at this hip camp site - the Platypus site was small and private with the best views of the water and the jetty. Jana was a great host, checked in on us to make sure we're settled in and if we needed anything. We felt very welcome. We didn't brave the kayaks as the weather is a bit cold, but looked like a lovely option for warmer weather. Campsite is a bit slopy but we found good options to pitch our 4 person tent.
We loved our stay, we hope to be back in the summer to make full use of the lovely creek and the kayaks.

We enjoyed the peaceful site next to the lake on the property. Jana kindly provided us with some firewood which was great. Very friendly host.
We also enjoyed sitting by the water listening to and watching all the bird life.
