James's place was perfect in every way.
We loved the riverside location, the soft green grass and the curious lamas.
The best part however, was the sauna/cold plunge pool.... well worth the money.

Fabulous private large grassy site right by the river. Friendly hosts. They left us a huge pile of logs for the fire. Sadly Sauna was getting some maintenance done but would totally recommend this campsite - excellent stop and only a 500m walk to town.

What a beautiful spot! So close to the river and perfect having the place all to ourselves. We loved how quiet the camp is, except of course for the birds. A cheeky possum made an appearance our first night along with some chubby wallabies. So much to see with Mt Paris Dam, Derby and Ledgerwood so close. Communication with James was always prompt even when he was out bushwalking on the West Coast. He arranged for his Dad Graeme to meet us and relay anything we needed to know. A perfect spot to just relax and enjoy nature.

We loved this stay. The campsite is an absolutely beautiful place that is well protected and very private. The river is magic and the option to walk to town for a meal gave the kids something to look forward instead of another camp kitchen production! The welcome from James and Graham was terrific. An all round absolute gem that we look forward to visiting again.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful creekside Hipcamp. The setting was incredibly peaceful with no one else around, making it the perfect place to relax, unplug, and enjoy nature.
James was a fantastic host, friendly, responsive, and made everything easy from start to finish. The site felt private, well cared for, and truly special.
If you’re looking for a quiet, serene getaway with a great host and a gorgeous natural setting, this place is a total gem. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Fabulous place, quiet and peaceful next to the river. Got to see the local platypus and resident wombat! Lovely stay.
We may have had an issue getting out towing our van up the hill had it have rained however due to the beautiful green rolling hills of grass as a road into the camp area, luckily it didn't rain and we were fine

Absolutely blown away at how beautiful this campsite was. One of our fave during our 10 months on the road around Australia. Graham was so kind and friendly (and Frazer). We felt very welcome. We spent our time enjoying the beautiful river, paddling with the kids and watching the platypus in the early morning. We would love to return one day.

Amazing and very private location.. would of loved to spend more time there.. great creek runs along the property with plenty to explore.. James was a great host. Will be back the next time we are in Tasmania

The best Hipcamp we have ever stayed at! It is better than the photos. Secluded and private camp spot all to ourselves. The kids loved playing in the paddock with the Alpacas and chickens. We saw an echidna on the driveway on our way in. Under 10 min to the Derby Mountain Bike Trail Head. James greeted us on arrival and showed us to campsite, answered our questions and gave us local recommendations. This is the best spot for any families or groups wanting a perfect off grid camp spot on direct creek access with free firewood for campfire included. 100% recommend. 5 stars without a doubt!!

Awesome little spot on the river - doesn’t get better than this! Very quiet and secluded whilst only being 2 minutes from town.
We spotted echidnas and a platypus. Kids had a go canoeing down the river. Booked one night but ended up staying two.

Beautiful secluded spot right by the creek where we were lucky enough to see a platypus. Inquisitive alpacas. Loads of firewood provided and a very friendly welcoming host who guided us to the spot on arrival. We rode the Scottsdale Rail Trail which was nearby. We loved it here and wanted to stay longer.

We loved this spot, beautiful by the river and some alpacas for neighbours. The fire drum and firewood provided made our night very comfortable. No luck on the trout, but maybe that’s just a good excuse to come back. Could genuinely spend a week here, going in and out seeing the sights around the area. Easy booking, easy directions, 5 star Hipcamp!!!

I don’t want to talk this place up because it feels like a best kept secret. It’s such a lovely place on the river, with the alpacas and chickens roaming. We ride from here to Derby, or it’s a 5 min drive.
James, Graham and Christine are great hosts!

I had an amazing stay at this Hipcamp! Why would you stay in the hustle and bustle of Derby when you can escape to the serenity of this beautiful spot? The peaceful surroundings were perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. The creek bed was definitely a chilly swim, but it was so refreshing and enjoyable. We also took a few day trips to explore the stunning St Helens and beyond, making it the ideal base for adventure. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with plenty to explore nearby!

Perfect for us, friendly hosts, we could have a fire, we like privacy and quiet and a spot to fish, although no fish were harmed in our adventure. Privacy gave a bit of space for our well behaved dog to have a little freedom. It’s a lovely walk down the road into town, with an IGA, a quaint coffee shop and a hotel! To top it off on the last day I saw a platypus.
