Want to feel the vastness of the outback without having to drive for hours? Here at Leander you'll find wide open spaces, red dirt, blue skies and great views, and it's only 20 minutes from town. Sit back after a long day of exploring all Longreach has to offer, look up at a blanket of stars and feel like you're the only people on earth. Leander is a goat property located on a red sand ridge about 25 kilometres from Longreach, Qld. Toby, Georgia, and their two kids farm Rangeland/Boer Goats and also have a small herd of Wagyu cows. The site is completely self-sufficient with no amenities, so please make sure this suits your camping setup. Please note this is a working property - there may be stock around and there is lots of native wildlife. Pets are welcome but we ask you be mindful and they be kept on a leash at all times. We also request you do not go exploring on your own. If you would like a tour, please ask - we'd love to show you around. All weather driveway. The Lookout at Leander is an incredible spot. It is a private stay, the only noises I heard were the sheep in the distance. Panoramic views around 3/4 of the site. 0 light pollution, excellent for Astrophotography.

Beautiful Australian outback

The outlook from the Lookout is absolutely spectacular. Looking west, the sunset is unparalleled, the land unspoiled. If you decide to stay here, you will be one of very few that have had the privilege. It is completely worth it.

True Outback Camping Experience.

This was an epic station stay, you felt like you were in the middle of Australia, a long way from anyone and everything. Would recommend this as a stay if you want an Aussie Outback camping experience. Hosts were wonderful and made the trip much more easier.

If it’s peace and quiet you want you will find it here. Good sized area with a bbq and fire drum. Can collect firewood off the ground. We met Toby and had a nice chat. Sunset was good. I appreciate this is a working station and they do not want van loads of people in here but I do feel the cost was too high for what you got compared to other hipcamps we’ve stayed at.

The site was incredible, a huge space all to ourselves. Such a beautiful place 🤩 We didn’t get to meet Georgia unfortunately, but her husband Toby was so friendly and welcoming. He even took us on a tour of the farm in the morning before we left.

Above and Beyond

Georgia was an amazing host. Met us on the track in, guided us to our camp site. Made sure we were ok and looked after us the whole time we were there, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. The night sky, was just superb. We saw kangaroos, cattle grazing some birdlife. Highly recommend Leander Station. The views and the solitude were exactly what we were after. Thank you Georgia.

Very private site with spectacular night skies. We were entirely on our own and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. An outback experience very close to town. Pets welcome but the site has a lot of burr vegetation with very fine sharp spines. Wouldn't take my dog there to be honest. Otherwise, a lovely spot.

We loved our stay at Leander Lookout. It was so peaceful and the views were amazing. The sunset was gorgeous. Georgia and Toby stopped by for a chat and were very nice. If we’re in the area, we would certainly stay again.

Most fantastic camping experience!!

What a fantastic spot!! We absolutely loved it. If you're after complete privacy and seclusion while camping, this is for you. We relaxed and played board games, and at night watched the zillions of stars, comets and satellites out there. We will miss it dearly until we come back!! Hosts Toby amd Georgia are awesome and brought us fruits and some meat to sample, and showed our kids the goats and horses. Thank you so so SO much to the Whips for sharing your paradise with us. See you soon!
