Beautiful creek (although a little low currently), and nice wide open campground. Unfortunately some rubbish left from previous campers. Facilities fairly standard (2 female showers functional). You can hear some road noise throughout the night but easily tuned out. Outstanding sunsets.

Had a okay stay, not horrible but not amazing either. Campsite is decently large, but at max capacity it’d be somewhat uncomfortable. Fortunately, there were few there.
The site is in relatively poor condition, and campers demonstrate a severe lack of standard camp etiquette. For example, a dozen campfire spots that are half arsed, not offical, and ruin the availability of where you can chuck a swag.
Many fire ‘pits’ had plastics, or other rubbish shoved in there during or post burn.
The BBQs are all basically unusable.
Bathrooms work but are in bad condition, lots of webs, no locks on the doors, but the water was hot and toilets flushed. Sink taps didn’t work well.
There was a high about of foot traffic during the day, which was a bit annoying given that we paid for access. Not sure if it’s local mob, which would make sense and be acceptable, but if it’s randoms just pulling in for a day, then that sucks. Those that were there left a lot of rubbish on the banks and in the water. Dogs were offlead multiple times during our stay and we observed three dogs get into a fight as two were offlead.
Another day tripper managed to get their POS explorer hung up on rocks, driving down and onto the river bank (that’s allowed?!). They wrecked part of the track trying to recover the vehicle which took two hours.
Overall, nice spot with a lot of great potential but poorly managed and maintained. I wouldn’t say the pictures were particularly accurate this time.

I liked the proximity to the creek, and the amenities were clean and to a good standard. I also enjoyed being able to light a fire.

Absolutely stunning spot with hot showers toilets. Woke up to the birds singing wildlife all around and got to see some water running through the creek. Definitely will be back

The powered sites do not have any shade trees which made it very hot and no privacy. Would be great if you planted trees along the power outlets.

We actually didn’t stay. Drove through and it was really rundown. Bbqs overgrown with weeds like some of the older reviews showed on their photos. Just not a very nice place. Didn’t expect a caravan park but was hoping to see something that kind of resembled the photos, which it didn’t.

Dirty toilet block wasn’t clean while we stayed, toilet paper ran out
Wife was saying women’s products on floor
After 9 o’clock load yelling and people throwing aerosol can in fire place after being spoken to got louder and abusive and more aerosols in fire kids were scared all night in camp next to us!

Beautiful camp area, close to the creek and the toilets/showers were decent. Someone on a nearby property was shooting throughout the whole trip which alot of campers found unpleasant ans kids found daunting, people also took dogs that barked continuously and caused havoc. I know there isn’t much to be done in these circumstances but definitely took away from the beauty of the spot. Also recommend the non powered sites as the powered ones sit directly off the road so have regular traffic. Overall was a nice stay.

A fairly basic campsite but does what it says on the tin. Our only negative was just the amount of bugs that decended at nightfall. But this is obviously outside the hosts control. Other than that no issues.

This camp was clean & tidy. I was however disappointed to note that the power outlet plugs were all 10amp household plugs & not the 15amp caravan power supply that I needed. Without a converter, I could not utilise the service that I paid for. Prior warning would have been good!

I attempted to contact the host several times to request directions and check-in instructions as I would be arriving after 7pm. I had driven 21 hours with a one hour break. I was exhausted and desperately needed to stop and sleep. On my arrival to the area, I was unable to locate the property - despite having contacted the groundsman for help. I ended up not staying the night and went to a nearby campground. I have still not had any returned messages after 4 days and certainly no apology or offer of a refund for the inconvenience

The pictures are misleading. The creek was beautiful and the unpowered sites are in a nice position. The powered sites are very close to the road and the power hook ups are old and poorly maintained. The bathrooms are great, clean and tidy. No camp kitchen to speak of, just a sink. I wouldn’t camp there again on a powered site, it was difficult to feel safe with cars going past day and night. Some shrubs or a fence would make a huge difference to how exposed it feels.

Lovely camp ground. Lots of room and not feel overly cramped. The amenities block is convenient with warm showers. They are a little tired but functional. Swimming hole was a little lower than usual when we were there but still nice to swim in for our kids.
Super convenient location. A service station not even 5mins away if you are desperate for something last minute. Cute little farm shops on the road to big crystal creek.
Great launching spot for heaps of day trips to surrounding locations. Jourama, paluma, Wallamen or Townsville.

Nice spot and I enjoyed my two night stay. The powered sites are right up in the front section of the campground just in from the road. But Spiegelhauer Road seem to only get a small amount of traffic during the day and hardly any overnight so road noise was not much of a problem. The clean and well equipped amenities block sits in between the powered and unpowered sections and on the side of it is a small kitchen area with a sink, bench and large chest freezer. Quite good Telstra phone signal as well.

Very good camp ground, a few mosquitos as it's next to the creek so bring citronella, but had toilets and showers and portable water. Lovely scenery and would definitely stay again! Thank you ☺️

Deceptive pictures and descriptions
Photos of the powered sites are a bit deceptive—they are right on the road so zero privacy.
We ended up camping in a non-powered site (after no response from the host of whether or not we could move). These sites have a lot more privacy and there’s a nice spot further at the back where you’ll have no neighbours if you’re lucky.
The water at the actual site is nothing like the advertised pics— it’s very shallow and not deep enough for any swimming or fishing like the description says. If we didn’t have our dog with us, we would have moved to the council camping 5 mins up the road as the water is much nicer.
My suggestion, if you don’t have dogs with you skip this site and go up the road to the National Park camping.

It was a beautiful wonderful peaceful place to camp.
Very happy that the showers were hot. Maybe leaving a mop for people to use in the shower room would be a good idea.
