Yarralen is a peaceful 40-acre bush retreat on the Mid-North Coast of NSW, sitting under Mt Yarrahapinni and surrounded by National Parks. We’re halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and close to pristine beaches including Grassy Head, Scotts Head and the Macleay River. Pet fees apply: $10 for campsites, $15 for lodgings (vans and units). We offer a magical bush escape with modern facilities and a range of accommodation: Campgrounds * Eclectic Bush Haven Campground: Family-friendly camping (kids under 12 camp free) with access to the fully equipped camp kitchen, toilets, showers and electricity * Yarralen Retreat Campground: Secluded area for fully self-contained off-road campers. These secluded campsites are located in a quiet paddock at the back of the property and are suited to fully self-contained campers. There is no access to the camp kitchen, and you’ll need to bring your own drinking water. A basic long-drop toilet, gas hot shower, and stainless steel sink with non-drinking water are available, but all campers must bring their own cooking equipment. The site is sloped at the top with flat areas at the bottom, and access is via grass only — 4WD is required, especially during or after rain. Please be mindful of children, as there is a hidden body of water in the bush behind the campground. Enjoy a cosy evening by the campfire (BYO firewood). We loved Yarralen Retreat. I stayed 2 nights with my two boys. The eclectic camp ground has everything you need, including a shared fridge, cooking facilities, flushing toilets and hot showers, so you can pack light. The camp sites are nice and flat and the shower/toilet area is kept clean and tidy. We saw wallabies hopping about and other native birds. We stayed in peak season but we were still far enough away from others so it felt quiet and private. All the other campers we encountered were lovely and considerate. It’s only 10mins drive to Grassy Head Beach which is beautiful. There are also plenty of places to eat at Scott’s Head. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks to Julie for sharing your beautiful part of this country with us.

Eclectic Campgrund had a great kitchen with everything you need with recycled material and furniture. The gas stove doesn't work efficiently (due to using LPG bottles?). The showers were great with nice hot water. The biggest problem we had was the water quality. It was brown and we didn't want to drink. Overall, it was a lovely spot with a swimming pool.

Julie the host was so lovely and very helpful 💖 We stayed in the Eclectic campground The ammenities were spotless as was the camp kitchen. The magnesium sunset bath was amazing also with the option of using the pool and the sauna makes this Hipcamp a beautiful place to stay. We definitely will stay there again when traveling North

Eclectic Campground
I spent one night camping there on my way up to Queensland, and was impressed with everything! The site was beautiful, and the facilities more than adequate for the small numbers of people who were there when I was. I would recommend Julie's land to everyone.

Grassy slope surrounded by trees

Well kept area, nice toilet and shower block and good undercover communal area. Campgrounds are on a slope with some areas cut in to be level. Nice surrounds with plenty of birds. Sound travels in the bowl, unfortunately had a baby crowing for a lot of the night. Otherwise was a pleasant stay for a night. Wood fire available. Recommend.

Quiet camp that was well equiped with camp kitchen, toilets and hot showers. Was close to Grassy Head and Scotts Head. 30 minutes to South West Rocks.

It's a beautiful spot needs more toilets and maybe need to set out where people can set up so they are not taking up to much room

Beautiful stay. You find your own spot to camp which was a bit tricky due to how many people there were but great social vibes. The bush walks were stunning and Julie was lovely!

Unfortunately our experience was very distressing and we had to leave early. The host became extremely aggressive and confrontational towards me and my wife. The behaviour was erratic, loud, and intimidating, and it escalated to the point where our children were frightened and upset. We did not feel safe or welcome, and we made the decision to leave immediately rather than remain in an environment that felt hostile and unpredictable. This was not the peaceful family camping experience we expected, and we would not stay here again or recommend it to others.

Great spot! Quite a busy camp! If you have issues with shared bathrooms etc it’s not for you. Well equipped camp kitchen, although we didn’t need to use it. Beautiful gardens and a lovely magnesium pool to chill in. Some leveling needed in different areas. Fire pits and wood (available to purchase). Peaceful bush setting just off the highway. Close to fishing spots and beautiful beaches. I’ll put this out there for Julie… DO Not I repeat DO Not bring your electric vehicle and expect to charge it there!!! Not Us!!! But just a warning for those who may not know. Yoga deck, Sauna, bird life galore! Not one mozzie bite, near zero flies, and the winner for me no bloody spiders (not that I saw)! Get amongst this camp it’s well worth it!

This is a lovely place to camp, beautiful nature and a good kitchen space to hang out. We were fortunate it also wasn't too busy.

This place is super convenient to the local beaches and has a great camp kitchen. Just Remember this place is unpowered sites, so if you need power beyond charging your phone in the camp kitchen, this place probably not for you. If you are planning to stay for a few nights, as a place to camp whilst exploring the area i’d turn up before 3pm so get yourself a flat site spot before the crowd only staying overnight arrive. Thanks Julie for hosting us, kids keen to come back and enjoy the space again . 🫶🫶

We stayed here with our 4 kids in our caravan. A lovely place with plenty of options to choose from close to the kitchen or well away from everyone’. The kids enjoyed the pool and playing cricket with other families. It’s well located to explore costal towns from.

This campsite is AMAZING! We were so lucky to snag a nice quiet spot for us and our 3 pups. The amenities here were fantastic and the hosts were so lovely. Julie happily gave us a tour of the property on her ATV and was more than happy to show us the peacock palace, the pool, sauna area, yoga deck, billabong and forest walks, sunset bath and all the accomodation options on the property. The camp kitchen was so sweet and we loved seeing Julie’s artwork around the place. Our campsite was nice and secluded, and we were able to scavenge firewood and borrow a Firepit. We will 10000% be back!

Nice, family-friendly campsite with everything as described. Make sure you secure your spot for the bush bath option, as it gets very busy!
