Great location near Hat Head and South West Rocks This lovely 4 acre camping spot is situated at Kinchela on the tidal Kinchela Creek which runs directly into the mighty Macleay river. Please note that in very wet weather , being riverside camping, the sites can be unsuitable for caravans and camper vans . Please enquire by message with us to verify current conditions. We endeavour to accomodate you but cannot predict the weather. Tent sites usually okay at any time . You can fish , kayak, paddle board, bring the tinny or just relax and enjoy the water view and surrounding farmland. A few shade trees and quiet surroundings makes this the perfect spot for your next getaway. Fire baskets available. Conveniently located only a 5 minute drive to Gladstone shops and hotel. There is a tap and hose (town water) on site. NOTE This is not available for vehicle washing, cleaning fish or filling large tanks. No emptying /cleaning of portable toilets please. PLEASE NOTE Campers must be equipped with their own toilet facilities , absolutely no exceptions. People abusing this rule will be asked to leave. We like our riverbank to be pristine and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you. Safe surroundings for solo travellers. We live opposite campground if assistance is required. Enjoyable fishing spot here, however no crab pots thank you. Our lovely waterway is recovering from a major flood. Last Minute Bookings Welcome ONLY subject to availability and not in holiday period. Long weekends and holidays are subject to a minimum booking 3-5 days 😊

Lovely water frontage campsite located in a rural area at Kinchela. Surrounded by cattle and silage farms close to Hat Head and South West Rocks. Relax and enjoy the water view and farmland with fire pits available onsite. The convenience of Gladstone village shops - bakery, butcher, general store, chemist, fuel and hotel are just 5 minutes drive away. Enjoyable 10km drive to Hat Head for safe swimming and the beach . Smithtown general store and hotel are also 5 minutes away. You can fish, drop a crab trap, paddle board or kayak directly from the tidal creek. The mighty Macleay river is accessible by boat in a no wash zone just 1 km away. Town water tap and hose on site for drinking and filling caravans. Site is mowed grassed, accessible within reason for wheelchair, flat terrain. We will supply a fire pit and starter pack of firewood. You are welcome to buy more wood . Please use firepit provided at your site. There may be other campers on this 6 acre area. Your site will be on our farm on the waterfront, close to a quiet country road for easy access with vans and motorhomes.

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
We had a lovely one night stay, very peaceful and beautiful property. With only 3 sites its spaced out very well and very private but we were lucky to have it all to ourselves with no other campers - but did get to share it with Annie and Peter’s gorgeous welsh horses including 2 month old Betty! Also got to meet Ned and Patrick, the working collies. Our spot on the river was magic. Even a few showers of rain didn’t dampen the mood. We highly recommend this beautiful spot, only 10mins from Hat Head. Thanks Annie and Peter!

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
We had a great stay at Annie and Peter’s camping area. The location is beautiful, set right on the river with a peaceful, open outlook. The grassy area was well kept, and with only three sites, everything felt quiet and spacious. Each site is well separated, so you get plenty of privacy. It's also a great place for anyone wanting a good fishing spot by the water. Annie and Peter were lovely hosts and have thought of everything to make it an enjoyable place to stay. We'll be back!

This is our 3rd time camping at Windermere and it never fails to deliver. An amazing relaxing camping experience with heaps of space and no feeling of having “close neighbours” Plenty of room to enjoy a fire and have our dog. The fishing is great too. The site was very well maintained and Peter and Annie were attentive hosts. We will definitely be back again.

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
I have stayed at Annie and Peter’s land before and I like everything about it. It is level and the grass is lush. You camp close to the water so you can fish at any time. There is limited sites so there is no overcrowding.

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
Loved our stay, Annie and Peter are friendly and exceptional hosts, they keep the grounds will maintained. We love that there are only 3 sites, so everyone has space and privacy. We didn’t have the best weather while there, (windy) but we had lots of diversions in visiting the nearby towns. Also close by to fabulous beaches. We would recommend and will definitely be back ourselves.

Beautiful! Our famjly went with our twl kids and loved it. Its such a magnificent spot by the river. The hosts are fantastic and super chilled but also easily available and approachable if you need something. Its a great camping experience!

What a gorgeous spot this is! Big paddock with just two other sites, and everything was nice and spaced out. Annie and Rick were very welcoming, and I appreciated the hose & tap in the paddock and the kind invite to fill up my van's tank before heading off. I brought my fur kid with me and she thoroughly enjoyed getting to see the horses (who shared the paddock with us!) up close. Downside to that of course is horse poo, which she enjoyed taste testing 😂

My partner and I had a fantastic camping trip at Annie and Peter's place by the river. They were so hospitable, generous and kind. They offered great advice about local places. The spot itself is very private, in a great location near Hat Head a dog friendly beach. We also got to meet Betty the newborn horse who was very sweet. Thank you for hosting us. My partner and I really enjoyed it.

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
We loved the large, comfortable site with green grass on the river. Plenty of room for our camper trailer, boat and 2 vehicles. The hosts Annie and Peter were lovely and very accommodating. Our children loved the horses in the paddock with us and we loved watching the sunset on the river. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful, quiet spot with lots of room.

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
Annie and Peter are the nicest people you could ever meet. The camping spot was what I consider to be perfect ..right on the river with a dock which was perfect for sunset drinks. Annie was so kind to drop off some firewood to get us started. Thanks Annie! We had family renting a house in Hat Head and although we love Hat Head.. it was swarming with family’s due to it being the school holidays so we felt really lucky to be out of the madness. The farm is only 13 mins from Hat Head and we couldn’t wait to get back there each day. Harry the farm dog and his side kick made our stay and are so gentle and loving. I wanted to kidnap them both. The horses too were a highlight especially the baby foal. But what I loved most was Annie. She is such an inspiration and I loved our chats. She’s respectful and very aware and insightful. No I can’t recommend this place enough. You won’t be disappointed.

Well maintained sites with easy drive in access to sites (it got a bit soft after the rain) Hat head 10km down the road Hosts were lovely and welcoming and supplied starter packs of firewood and fire pits which was awesome. Sites are well spaced out and only a few available. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves The dogs had a ball swimming in the creek.

Windermere Quiet Spot on the River
This is a stunning area. The camping spots were beautiful and easy to get to. You don't have to drive very far in from the road, yet they are peaceful and quiet. Being able to launch the canoe straight into the river was great and Annie and Peter were warm and welcoming and made sure we were enjoying our stay. The campfire and wood were appreciated. We'll definitely be back.

Amazing location 15mins off the highway Super quiet and relaxing waking up to the cows across the river Peter is super friendly and accommodating and met me on arrival. Lots of space between other camps so it’s private Easy access for 2wd even in wet aswell 100% recommendations this spot if you’re heading to Brisbane or on your way back from Sydney !

I didn't get to enjoy my stay at Windemere this time due to issues with my van. What I can say is, Peter was so hospitable with communication and understanding.. nothing was troubling for him. Thank you again Peter for your understanding. Hope to stay soon. Dianne

Amazing spot right on the creek. Short drive to either Hat Head or South West Rocks. Gorgeous, well maintained area. The sunset was unreal. Will be back for sure!

During massive rainfalls didn’t go because camp was too close to river. Owner flagged that entry may be a bit soft for my RV, so I didn’t take a chance.

Mark was very welcoming and helpful - chopping us a bag of fire wood especially! We decided to stay an extra night to hide from Cyclone Alfred, as the field provided the perfect spot to do so. Beautiful sun sets and peaceful surroundings.

What a great spot! Plenty of room to sit back and relax next to the creek. A few fish caught from the bank, and a nice feed from the kayak and mud crabs too. Mark is a great host and the fire wood bundle a must add. Highly recommended. We will be back for sure

A quiet and spacious creekside camp with plenty of space only a short drive to south west rocks or hat head. After a great day at the beach head back to this beautiful grassy campsite and enjoy a campfire and listen to the cows. We are already planning to go again.
