The cottage's established garden is filled with hand crafted objects, art projects, rustic plant pots and decorative items with many crafty things to look at and makes the surrounds a pleasure to explore and sure to bring out the hidden crafter inside you. The garden is large and fenced, a garden your dogs will also love. Established flowering plants and bushes are beautiful in spring time with magnificent flowers on show in every corner. Leave the city, the suburbs and the busy world behind and immerse yourself in the countryside, in this hidden location and magical place. A lot of guests say and we agree "This is the Dream" The drive up to the property will raise your spirit with beautiful vistas and a stunning drive following the creek as you enter the valley. Distant steep ridges surrounding the cottage from all sides and make for an exiting and dramatic view. Come and make the most of your time off with this beautiful environment in absolute comfort. We have put in a lot of effort in and are sure that you will be wowed the moment you step from your car and walk around the cottage grounds. When you enter inside the cottage you will instantly know that you are in for a comfortable stay, the cottage has a lovely feel to it, fully equipped yet homely and cozy even though you are deep in a secluded valley surrounded by wilderness. **Please note we have had guests with young children including under 2 but nothing in the house has been baby proofed as per BnB regulations for allowing young children to stay, i.e. the TV is not mounted and cupboards do not have safety catches and contain cleaning chemicals. Please be aware of this before booking with children. Kids love it here though, especially the creek in summer and feeding the goats ! The cottage will satisfy as it is spacious yet cozy, the kitchen is large and well-appointed with quality appliances and a breakfast table overlooking the garden and mountain views. Enjoy alfresco dining on the rustic handmade table made from fallen timber on the property or relax on your private deck overlooking the surrounding countryside. Cook on the gas BBQ, the kitchen oven and hob or use the fire bowl burning wood from the property for an authentic BBQ experience or just make a fire and stare into the flickering flames for a welcome break from TV dramas. In the height of summer you are able to keep cool with air-conditioning in the cottage or go and relax and take the heat off in the crystal clear waters of Parrabel Creek 400m from your front door. The creek is a pristine waterway with secret swimming holes and drinkable water when not in flood. Things to do on the property include walking down to the creek for a soak in refreshing swimming holes or have a picnic on the creek bank under shady trees with the soothing sounds of the babbling water flowing past. Alternatively a short walk leading from the cottages rear gate leads to seasonal cascades and rustic slab picnic table set in a natural clearing under overhanging trees where you can soak up the sounds of prolific bird life. Watch out for Padymelons, wallabies, bandicoots and platypus. For the energetic (must be fit its steep! ) a 5km return walk along a well defined track leading to the top of the mountain will reward with breathtaking views and a rock shelter to discover and relax in. Nearby attractions include walking, cycling or driving 3.6km from the gate to Jumping rock a secret local swimming hole that is a great spot to relax, swim have a picnic or try catch the elusive bass that spawn in the upper reaches of this creek. Toorumbee road itself is pleasant to explore as it mostly follows the creek along the valley that opens up further along with great scenery to take in along the way. Direct access to Boonanghi nature reserve is 4km from the gate with fire trails following the ridge line and descending into another secluded valley with spectacular waterfall ( Kempsey blow hole) and perfect hideaway to while away the day with numerous rock pools and cascades flowing all year long. This is a great spot and takes about an hour following 22km of fire trails through the forest. Please ask us for a map as it is very easy to get lost with multiple trails and no reception in places. Only suitable for 4x4 vehicles or we can arrange a day trip for you if you dont have one. The mid north coast beaches of Crescent Head, Hat head and Southwest rocks are all great beachside day trips out with just over an hour to hour and a half travel time to reach them. We are confident a break at valley views cottage will not disappoint... please check out the reviews. Guest access Valley views cottage located at 667 Toorumbee road is 45 minutes west of Kempsey and travelling here would include 15km of dirt road. No 4x4 necessary but do not reccomend turning up in your super low set sports car ( leave the R8 at home) The property consists of 200 acres and all of the land is available for guests to explore, from defined tracks to bush walks, just ask and we can point you in the right direction for adventure. The holiday cottage is private and set well away from the main house with no clear line of sight from either dwelling. A large fully fenced garden ensures extra privacy and we take care to let guests feel like they are here all alone, unless they want to chat but this is rarely the case. Other things to note Suitable walking shoes are needed for the walks on the property including to the creek. If you need to make phone calls then you will need to have a phone that is wifi calling enabled and then you can call through the internet connection. There isn't any phone reception. You don't need to bring anything except your food, the cottage has tea, coffee, spices and sugar as well as essentials like oil, tin foil, cleaning supplies, dish cloths etc. Low clearance vehicles will need to drive slowly up the steep driveway but we have had guests come in all vehicle type, a 4x4 is not necessary to get to this location but there is 18kms unsealed road with no phone reception until you reach valley views (not suitable for sports cars or Caravans) Seasonally the creek may flood and water may be over the road in places but we rarely get flooded in and will advise guests if there is risk of this happening.
