HIDING IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYWHERE! Pure. Unadulterated. WILD. 104 very private acres, securely sandwiched between a National Park Nature Reserve and State Forest. On a dead end road. No agriculture or farms upstream, only one other like-minded property owner. Secluded, but hiding smack bang in the middle of everywhere! From vertiginous sandstone cliffs on which epipetrics cling tight, right through to palm-filled rainforests, and with two quite different creek systems (including a monster waterfall), you'll be spoiled for things to do and places to explore - without even leaving the property! HISTORY This land is Gumbaynggirr land. Please be particularly mindful of our First Nation's long presence on this land. In the 1800's, white men came seeking Red Cedar, closely followed by settlers having a go at dairying; though logging has remained this area's mainstay. This special property, despite last being selectively logged about 50 years ago, hosts many huge old-growth trees remaining steadfast for your discovery and wonder. And many more are continuing to grow out too. About 35 years ago about nine of this property's eastern-most 104 acres became part of a far larger nashi pear orchard which filled much of the flats of this top end of the valley that you see today. Ultimately they failed to set good commercial fruit, and the rootstocks took over. You can see remnant rows of these trees just south of the property, from along the road. (Beware though - they have spikes that could puncture Caterpillar tracks!) MORE RECENTLY extensive lantana control efforts have been undertaken as we now move into revegetating with native species and implementing a permaculture plan. Today the property is registered with Land For Wildlife and hosts a very wide mix of native vegetation communities. ACTIVITIES Bird watch. Climb. Abseil. Photograph wildflowers. Paint. Swim. In the next valley there's even gold to be found. Explore trails by mountain bike. Whale watch. Surf. Learn SCUBA. Go beach-combing. Catch a mudcrab. Go whitewater river rafting. The bush’s best kept secret

My girlfriend and I had such a beautiful weekend away at this Hipcamp. It truly felt like our own private sanctuary. The highlight was the secluded waterfall and champagne pool; absolutely stunning and such a special place to swim, relax, and take in the surroundings. Having something so magical just a short walk from camp made the stay unforgettable. The campsite itself was well maintained, spacious, and thoughtfully cared for, offering the perfect balance between comfort and immersion in nature. Rob was a fantastic host, welcoming, helpful, and generous with firewood. He also provided a clear map to the waterfall, which made exploring easy and enjoyable. The peace and quiet were exactly what we needed. Falling asleep to birdsong, insects, and the gentle sound of the breeze flowing through the trees was the perfect soundtrack to unwind. We left feeling refreshed and grateful. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful, nature-filled escape.

We loved camping at Rod's place. A lovely drive to get there, peaceful surroundings lots of wildlife. Grassy patches to set up camp and large fire pit provided. Close drive to Scouts Falls and the beaches. We were able to take a hike on Rod's property to get to some waterfalls and enjoy swimming in the waterholes. Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible and magical part of NSW that we were lucky enough to experience. The camp sites are very well set out and meticulously maintained. The experiences and extras Rod offers are well thought of and planned. Rod's knowledge of the land and and his attention to detail in maintaining this magical place is just incredible. The waterfalls are breathtakingly beautiful and we were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. If I could give a 100 star rating, I would. Thank you Rod for having us! We will definitely be back.

The place you want to keep secret but also tell everyone about. Waterfall and walk is well worth it, as is any walk around Rod's land. Warratas area is perfectly shaded. Rod is an awesome host.

We were looking for a secluded place to set up camp on our way back to Sydney. We camped at watermelon flat, it was everything we could ask for. Rod welcomed us along with Reddy the dog that came and greeted us each morning. You Must do the walk to the waterfall it’s truely a hidden paradise to behold. Worth the adventure. Campsite was well maintained and the stars are wonderful at night. The nearby town Glenreagh is such a hidden gem be sure to check out the bakery and say hi to the team there! Thanks for having us to stay!

Thanks rod, you have a beautiful property. Top shed camp site was great, very private, close to the waterfalls which is highly recommended, and good, clean facilities. Would recommend staying.

Had an absolute amazing stay, I took my pup stitch on his first camping trip and couldn’t gone better amazing creek for dogs to play in as well as yourself. The waterfalls up the mountain was stunning as well plus pup can come most of the way , and a place to tie them up with water while you find the waterfalls. Plus Rod was an amazing host, very kind ! I also suggest it to my friends and they will be enjoying it over new years ! Plus I definitely plan on coming back . Also about 20 ish + min drive up the road is scot falls busy but gorgeous!

The perfect lush bush getaway!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at the Topshed site. The site was well maintained, the fire pit was large enough to have a decent size fire, and the toilet was a lovely surprise - a private toilet tent with a clean and tidy compost toilet with everything you may need. The highlight for us was absolutely the waterfall on the property, Rod provides an easy to follow map guiding you to the stunning waterfall just 25-30min walk/trek from camp where you can swim and enjoy the serenity. Rod himself was very friendly, stopping by camp to say introduce himself and his pup Reddy without interrupting the peace and quiet, we found him to be a lovely chat and it was clear that he loves having people come and enjoy the property. With the perfect mix of bush and access to the beach 20min drive away this was our ideal stay. Would recommend!

We had an amazing time staying on Rod’s property. We loved being away free from phone reception and surrounded by nature. The waterfall was a clear highlight as was the rapids at the creek nearby camp. My nervous dog enjoyed her wild escape and it was so fun to see her enjoy herself in the bush being a dog. We will definitely be back!

Camping at Rod's place was amazing. Waratah camp side was perfect. Plenty of space to relax, have a campfire and read a book. And what a magical swim at the waterfalls. If you relax and stop for a lunch at the viewing natural platform, you can spot wildlife while enjoying the views of the waterfalls. Rod was great. Knowing the local land, he was able to recommend lovely hikes and definitely saved me many extra km as Google map would take me for a ride to nowhere. If you love hiking, swimming in natural waterfalls and relaxing place to enjoy your time around campfire Rod's place is the right place to go.

Rod is a pleasant host & supplied easy to follow directions to his property, my girlfriend & I had the most amazing time exploring the beautiful waterfall & lovely surrounds, Rod happily supplied extra firewood when needed for a fair amount of cash and the fire pit was a great size, nice & big! It was a very memorable experience all round,. Thank you for allowing us to explore your very special land Rod, we will return! :)

Rod was very helpful with what ever we needed and explained his map with detail easy to understand And as for the place WOW we had to pinch ourselves to know it was real the waterfall was on only a 20 minute walk if that deadset was epic didn’t look real it was beautiful Will definitely be back to relax and enjoy the peaceful grounding effect rods property had for us

We LOVED camping at Rods place it was absolutely magical and we highly recommend it for families. What Rod has done in creating a refuge for wildlife and his caring for country is truly remarkable. After driving through state forest and cow paddocks arriving at Rods is like driving in a sanctuary where the rainforest has been nurtured back to life. Fantastic views from the camp-site and plenty of privacy. Our dogs absolutely loved it because they could be off leash at our camp-site. The kids absolutely loved the tractor ride, even the big kids too! The waterfalls were absolutely breathtaking taking such an incredible experience to spend time in such an ancient untouched,majestic landscape. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to have stayed with you Rod, thank you for sharing this remarkable country with us. We will be back and look forward to seeing you again soon!

What a great place!! Beautiful spaces to explore and enjoy. Camping areas have been cleared and well cared for. The trail to the waterfall is easy to follow and the falls are simply amazing. Well worth a visit. Rod has created a lovely space.

Your own private waterfall!!! Need I say more. We stayed in the fenced area which was so nice to let the doggo run around. The hike to the waterfall is a bit steep but my goodness it is worth it If your looking for, off grid, peace and serenity give this place a go. However if you have someone over 15f I would probably give it a miss. The roads are very treacherous. We have a 18 f caravan and it was truly a mission

We had a nice quiet stay over Easter when every other campground was packed. Beautiful country, walk and waterfall were both amazing. Rod was a relaxed and helpful host.

Lovely property, stunning waterfall experience at the end of the bush walk! Rod provided a map which was helpful but left us to enjoy the peaceful surrounding. Great stay get ready to unplug and bring your boots and take up the offer of the dinosaur repellent!

As someone who has stayed in various HipCamps across NSW and QLD, this would have to be one of the most unique. We experienced a beautiful drive to the property and were greeted promptly by Rod who helped us park and settle in nicely. We were encouraged to view the private waterfall (with an infinity pool overlooking the valley)… and wow, this was an absolutely stunning experience. Overall it was peaceful, immersed in nature, with no troubles. Thanks Rod - much appreciated

Rod was a friendly, responsive host. The location was lovely and the loo was as advertised - a great setup by Rod. It had been raining a bit and I'm not sure how my 2wd motorhome would have faired going back up the hill on the wet grass. However, Rod was accomodating and we stayed at the top of the hill. The pools were stunning and worth the walk. Thanks for sharing your bit of heaven Rod, we hope to see you again.

The waterfalls were magic. Secluded and a bit of effort but so worth it. With patience, our 10 and 7 year old kids made it up some challenging parts. Location was also ideal to visit some stunning but not overpopulated beaches (such as Emerald and Safety Beaches). Wallaby spotting too. Bring your bug spray and stop itch. 😊
