We had an average experience that all stemmed from the booking system. I booked a few weeks out and when I arrived they had no site for me. There was an area for me to stay but with no power or water. The people who run the camp site were trying to be extremely helpful and were accommodating. They brought over some fresh water to ensure we had water for the night(cooking, cleaning,drink). Apart from the initial issues the camp area is well kept and our young kids loved the play area. Everything is old but in working order. Toilets and showers could use refresh, but in working order. We sat outside after dinner and everyone respects the low light policy. Stars were absolutely amazing. Best I've ever seen. I wouldn't recommend this for a week-long camp but would be fine for a night or two if you are travelling through, like we were. If booking through Hipcamp ensure you call them to confirm your booking.

Powered Site 2 - WMMotel Campground

We booked with Not great expectations but was keen to be on the area to see Saturn and the planets . We also booked there on a powered site and noted we had a caravan This was also a priority as it was hot To our disbelief we where ducted go a grass section and where told to plug into the pole On close inspection we realised it was not to code It was a ten amp power lead feed into a junction box. On the other side was a fifteen amp plug Needless to say we could only run one or Two things and it would trip The caretaker then came and asked if we would share this power with another caravan Using a power board 😱 Don’t offer safe industry standard powered site if you can’t make them safe Every powered site was like this A tent you might be okay The grass to the river was long the whole area was messy The best winner was the pool Never again

Perhaps there were not much staff to clean toilets when we arrived on Monday 16/1/25 . Happy with no reception and a beautiful natives cross European vegetation parkland ,surrounded by bush and still running creek, well appreciated by our Blue Heeler. Only 4 Motels rooms were occupied by parents with a little children .

The host Viren was very helpful. Could not be apologetic enough. The person who greeted us onsite had the attitude of could not get rid of us quick enough. Left is to our own devices and was not acceptable to us.

Dirty and Loud. Very disappointed.

Owners of the venue held loud parties late into the night on both nights we were staying there, keeping my family awake. We were told by management that as it was the owners, there was nothing that could be done. We chose this destination, for a quiet, relaxed time in the wilderness. The facilities were also putrid. Bins were overflowing with rubbish. The bathrooms stank and were unclean. One of the worst camping experiences overall that my family has ever had. It is a real pity, as the location was good, with plenty of space. Lots of potential to be great.

Amazing for Star gazing

Out of town far enough to avoid any light pollution, large open area for camping, sites are allocated when booking but it’s a find a spot once there system. Excellent for star gazing, it is close to a road but not a busy road, facilities available to use and very friendly hosts when checking in at reception.

Good flat ground and the kids loved the trampoline. Bathrooms were quite messy and reception didn't have access to our booking - fix these two things and it would be a really great site!

Definitely different to what we expected. Power sites were close to the motel (with extension cord running from main buildings) and not ordered as suggested when booking. The grounds have deteriorated since our last visit for a wedding about 7 years ago. The bathrooms were ok and cleaned each day. We would consider returning however would take a generator and camp further away from the main buildings for more peace.

Powered Site 4 - WMMotel Campground

We were lucky to find any available camping spot so close to the Easter break. Friendly receptionist. We hadn’t quite realised that it was on the grounds of a motel, but we were able to find a spot far away enough from people to feel a sense of privacy. However the first night and morning, the showers and taps didn’t work, and the bathrooms & toilets were quite filthy and smelly. For $40 a night, we had at least expected to be able to use a shower, and for the amenities to be kept tidy. In the National Park you can get a spot for a fraction of that price with amenities that feel modern and clean. Next time we’ll definitely book ahead and go to a National Park.

This was such a great spot!! So much space. Our kids loved the play area and all of us loved the pool. The owners have only taken over in the last 12 weeks but could not have been more kind, helpful and welcoming. Thank you so much for having us!! We will be back.

Beautiful quiet setting. Lots of room to spread out. The Managers were very helpful and nice. It has everything you need. The kids, dogs and adults all had a great time. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Non powered Site 7 - WMM Campground

The lady at reception was very friendly and lovely enough, but she didn't know the site at all to direct us to our powered site. Turns out our powered site which was meant to be along the creek was at least 30m away, and next to a sewerage tank. The bathrooms were disgusting. The whole vanity area and showers were covered in bugs to the point I had to rinse all the bugs down the shower drain before I could even step in.

Simple but lacking direction / sign

Fine for an overnighter or two, amenities were clean and pool a nice escape from the heat. No water in the river (to be somewhat expected). Hosts weren't overly friendly or helpful I.e. directions on where to setup / amenities were very brief and led us to setup in the "function area" where we were asked to move even though we'd nearly finished our setup This was pretty frustrating given that there were no other campers or functions being held for the 2 nights we stayed.

An out of the way motel with well priced powered and unpowered sites.. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we had access to flushing toilets, hot showers and BBQ. The motel is on the older side, however great value!

We loved the peace and serenity at Mountain Motel. We were warmly welcomed by hosts and it was close to town and a pleasant and scenic drive to the Warrumbungles. The amenities were very clean. The night skies were incredible. Thank you

We had a wonderful 2 night stay. It was close to Siding Springs Observatory and yet not far from town. We loved that we were the only campers for the first night. Our dog loved it too.

Great location between Coonabarabran (5 to 10 mins) and Siding Springs and the Warrumbungle NP. Plenty of space, with lots to do at the location. Very happy with our stay and thoroughly recommend.
