Set in the Capertee Valley, New South Wales, Upper Nile is nestled at the end of the road coming from Glen Alice. Surrounded by Majestic Cliffs our spectacular Valley invites people to take it all in, to make memories and get out amongst the landscape... Campers can chill out with friends, hike, explore, swim, take pics of wildlife, birds, help the owner or chat about living off grid. With shallow creeks , swimming hole, heated spa with a view, BBQ, picnic table, Cliffs, hiking/bushwalking, mountain biking, feeding the cows, sheep or chickens - you will have a great time. Don't forget the hot shower and flushing toilets. Campers can have private sites away from others or with multiple friends and their set ups! Our Local coffee shop based in Glen Alice, called From The Paddock is open Thursday to Sunday and offer great coffee, and food. Local sites also include Glen Davis, Dunns Swamp and the Glen Alice Trail. Bird lovers from all over the world come to explore the vast range of birds that call our valley home either full time or part of their residence of choice! As one of the worlds top 11 sites for bird watching, make sure to have your camera readying Get amongst nature, explore, rest and unwind. Fire pits available (some with bbq plate). Amazing views, gas bbq and picnic table on the hill also here to enjoy. We also have cabins and or tiny houses available for accomodation. Self contained with kitchenette and bathroom. Offering spectacular views you won't be disappointed with well travelled guests saying the view is some of the best in the world without the mass of tourists around! . Note: we are a quiet camp, family, and pet friendly, meaning a place of rest and adventure, not a place to blast music and annoy others. Please take parties, loud music elsewhere! We have cattle and sheep so encourage you to get a picture or even help us feed them, just remember to please keep paddock gates closed. We have 2 tiny homes. Both are uniquely located and capture the beauty and serenity of the valley. Contact us to confirm availability… People speak highly of their time here, and love the star filled night skies, the cliffs that surround, the Wollemi National Park at our doorstep, hiking, wildlife even waking up to wallabies out your window, hot fire heated baths with a view, the spa and more! Fully self contained… Toilet, shower, air conditioning, cooking facilities, Decks, fire pits, Plunge pool/Spa with a view, bbq with a view, fridge, Wifi… If you have other family of friends they can camp in your vicinity or further afield and they just need to apply as campers… Let us know if you are interested to book the cabin as they are listed on other platforms and often book out. Loved camping here over the weekend! There were plenty of nice spots to choose from all surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. We spotted some kangaroos and wombats and got to see and hear many various species of birds. Jake was super friendly and helpful with showing us around his farm. He stopped to check up a couple times and just to have a few chats while we were walking around and while up at the spa We walked around the farm saw the cows and checked out the waterhole. Not huge, but a cute little natural pool, discovered some yabbies and tadpoles. We played with puppy ‘Rabbit’ and watched as she learnt how to work on the farm with the cows. The spa was spacious, clean and the perfect temperature. Enjoyed the amazing views from up there! We made a green tree frog friend who didn’t mind sharing the water with us too. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks Jake! Overall great experience :)

The drive to this campsite is absolutely stunning. So were the views from where we stayed. We were 3 families with a mix of young kids to teens and everyone had a fabulous time. The hosts were super friendly and helpful, and it’s very peaceful. Not too crowded, hot showers and good toilets. You can feed the cows, chickens and lamb, and the swimming hole was a neat little spot for the kids to hang in.

Spent 4 nights at the Nile and had a great time. Jake and his Family couldn’t be more welcoming. Loved the additional 4wd tour of the property and the view from the spa was fantastic. Will definitely be booing in another visit.

The best campsite ever, could not fault the site, hosts, and experience altogether. We were a group of young families (four kids under 3!) and the facilities, jacuzzi, lookout tour and much more were all so great. Jacob and Mandy have the gift of hospitality and it was such a blessing.

WOW! What an incredible stay! Jacob & Mandy were such amazing hosts, so accommodating & kind , Jake took us on a 4WD to the lookout which was breath taking, not to mention both spending time with us socially. The kids (4&6) loved every second of it. Feeding the cows, sheep, watering hole paddles, discovering the dinosaur rock, enjoying the spa and exploring. The wild life was so beautiful & views breathtaking. We will 100% be regulars to this stunning part of the world. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! The Cawthorne’s

We all had an amazing time at The Nile. The property is massive and you can pick your own spot to set up camp. The property is large enough so you dont have to be near other campers Toilet and Shower facilities are great. There is also a 4 wheel drive track to the top of the mountain through the national park. We are return visitors and will book plenty of more in the future. The hosts Jake and Mandy are awesome! See you again soon

Jacob and Mandy were wonderful hosts. The kids loved visiting the cows, chickens and sheep and playing in the creek and swimming hole. There was lots of space between fellow campers and making a fire at night was great. Jacob took us for a 4WD excursion to a wonderful spot overlooking the valley. Lots of fun was had. We will be back.

The property is absolutely stunning and very peaceful. Even at full capacity it was very private with large open spaces and few campers. There is so much to do, mountain hiking, rock pool for swimming and a warm spa. The owners are delightfully warm, friendly people, we would stay there again no question.

This was our second stay here — our first was just for one night, but the kids had such a great time that we had to come back for a longer visit! This time we stayed for three nights and loved every moment, from exploring the area to soaking up the peace and quiet. Our hosts, Jake and Mandy, were incredibly welcoming. Jake even took us up the mountain and shared his extensive local knowledge, which made the experience even more special. It truly was an amazing weekend, and we can’t recommend this place highly enough!

The best Camping in a Canyon NSW

Fantastic camping spot! Plenty of room to choose any site which suits you. Great for small or large groups. Plenty of grass, flat areas and shade. We loved the camp fire areas scattered around the property, and we chose a site which had log seats which were handy! Jacob the host was very informative and helpful. Good amenities- the spa looking out to the canyon looked amazing (we didn't use it on this trip, but will next time) Scenery is world class.... we did the walk to the rim of Capertee Canyon from the property, which was challenging but we were rewarded with the most amazing views ever! Not a lot of water in the swimming hole when we were there, however this is part of natural bush camping. We did day trips to Glen Davis and Dunns Swamp which were both a good accessible distance from the camp. We would definitely recommend staying there!

We tent camped on The Nile 2 site with family. We had the best time and this was a great site with really good family friendly amenities and things to do. The property had amazing views of the mountains and was a pleasure to wake up early to catch the sunrise with kangaroos and an occasional wombat. The cows and sheep on the farm were also an added charm. Jacob was a great host who was very accommodating to his guests and even helped us with a flat car battery! We all had our own designated fire pits and the sites had good distances between them for privacy between groups. The flushing toilets and showers make life easier for us city folk that need some luxuries. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys beautiful mountain views and friendly farm life! Well done to Jacob and his family. God bless and wish you well.

A quiet and peaceful spot in a stunning location. The hosts were very kind and gave us clear, helpful guidance😊 The hiking trail was great fun even for my 6-year-old — we saw wombats, wallabies, huge rocks, and beautiful layers of stone. My little one spent the whole day happily exploring, and there’s even a slide! The showers and toilets are clean and comfortable, though some sites are a little far. A portable toilet was handy for us. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay on the Nile farm. Absolutely amazing, warm and hospitable hosts. It was such a stunning area with a lovely array of bird life, a great place to relax and unwind, wished we could have stayed a little longer.....will definitely be back!.

Wow!!! My son asked to camp somewhere completely alone, with no one else around - no small ask considering it was the first weekend of school holidays. But Jacob delivered. What a beautiful spot we had and could have picked from many more. I was also very grateful for the use of clean toilets and hot water showers. We loved this place and will be back. Thank you Jacob and family for letting us share such a magnificent spot!

What an incredible farmstay, from the view coming into the property and all the native animals greeting us on our afternoon arrival to waking up to the Angus cattle at our doorstep whilst having our morning coffee. The view is magic and the hosts are just as welcoming and accommodating. Thank you Jacob , Mandy, Ryder & Zeek for the wonderful stay. Looking forward to coming back soon

We had the absolute privilege of spending two unforgettable nights at The Nile Off Grid Family Farm in Upper Nile, Capertee Valley. From the moment we arrived, the peace and beauty of this place wrapped around us – sheer cliffs rising above, endless skies stretching out, and a deep sense of connection to the land that you can feel in every breath. Jacob and his family were extraordinary hosts. Their story of persistence, resilience, and love for the valley is truly inspiring, and it shines through in the way they care for both their land and their guests. Jacob’s visits to camp, just to check in and share a chat, added such warmth and authenticity to our stay – we felt welcomed not just as visitors, but as part of their journey. The property itself is breathtaking. While we came self-sufficient, it was comforting to know that thoughtful amenities like showers and toilets are available if needed. At night, the skies opened up in all their brilliance, reminding us just how rare and precious it is to stand beneath stars unmarred by city lights. Camping here felt like being immersed in the spirituality of the valley itself – a place where time slows, nature speaks, and gratitude comes easily. We cannot thank Jacob and his family enough for sharing their slice of heaven with us. It is more than a campsite; it is an experience, a gift, and one we will always carry with us.

Cliffs, Cabins and Kelpies

If Australia had a Yellowstone it'd be in Glen Alice. It was so nice waking up to rocky cliff faces in this beautiful valley. So comfy in the tiny home which have absolutely everything you'll need during your stay. Jacob was a great host, telling us all about the local spots and even offering to drive us up to the viewpoint nearby. We got a special morning welcome from the farm's head of cattle management, a little Kelpie called Rabit, and spent the morning checking out the swimming hole and coming back to a warm spa on the deck out the front of our cabin. Such a peaceful retreat, amazing views especially as the sun rises and sets and beautiful starry skies if you're lucky enough to get a clear night. Light a fire and hop in the fire-heated outdoor bath for an extra treat! We got the best mix of rest in nature and adventure.

Jacob was a fantastic friendly Host! Location was fun but quiet cold in winter so come prepared. We visited Bathurst and few sites near by too. The unpaved road wasn’t as scary as originally feared. Tons of animals around and kids had plenty of fun. Stars and the quietness was epic, unlike anything I experienced before. Great place for a short stay for the weekend!
