Base for exploring Port Stephens

Nothing special, but it does work as a base for exploring Port Stephens, but that’s about it.
The space could really do with a mow and a proper clean, as there was a lot of litter around. The bins were overflowing and people kept leaving rubbish and items piled around them.
It was very busy when we stayed and it felt completely packed. We shared the space with some pretty poor-quality camp neighbours who had zero respect for others, urinating around the place, spitting toothpaste everywhere, and generally leaving mess behind.
There was a group of around 12 people who partied on until about 1am, plus four other couples (including us) camped close by.
While we were sitting by our fire, another group of four took the fire pit barrel and wood being used by the group of 12 and started to use in their own site. The campers weren’t happy when they returned that evening.
We thought it was disrespectful behaviour, but when we woke up the next morning, all the bricks from our fire pit had been taken and moved to the other people’s site who originally had their fire pit taken. That made us feel really uncomfortable and we were glad we weren’t staying another night.
Mosquitos were absolutely brutal at dawn.
Overall, the location is the only real positive. The lack of upkeep, overcrowding, and behaviour of other campers really took away from the experience.

I liked that place. It’s in a great location if you want to visit places like Nelson Bay and Anna Bay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Overall pretty average stay, was good to have rubbish bins as the place was clean but neighbours were very loud until early hours of the morning so wouldn’t recommend staying there as we didn’t get sleep. Would pick another Hipcamp over this one. Was also pretty busy and camping right next to one another wasn’t very much space at all.

Perfect mid point basecamp for day trips to explore Newcastle and Port Stephens.... If you want privacy this is not for you.... but we didnt mind it. Would stay again...

Overall was a great spot, quiet and grass was great to camp on. Too close to the creek meant we had to battle with heaps of flies.

Pretty meh. Good for a legal place to park a van or roof top but an expensive strip of grass at that. Bins available for rubbish but not a very welcoming site and the lack of amenities make the price not worth it.

We enjoyed our stay here over the long weekend. It was busy, to be expected but still had plenty of room. It will be great when the other paddocks are opened up to get off the road and drive way.

Despite it says there's nothing, they could put a bin at least. There's no even a bin to put trash, you cannot even go through the gate, it's a farm entrance, no trees to protect from sun and the nights were very windy. They charge you 40 dollars per night, it's a lot for what they offer.

A good place for an overnight stay but no facilities and right next to a mosquito ridden stream. The beach they show in the photos is also kinda hard to access

I cannot recommend this place at all. The Hipcamp site was a complete rip-off. The area was tiny, and the loud music from the nearby house blared late into the night. I was very disappointed, especially after paying a substantial amount for the campsite. Would've been better to stay at a rest area.

i loved camping here! it’s exactly what you’d expect for camping in the middle of nowhere so you would need to come well prepared. nearby drive to all or any shops, servos or restaurants. heaps of things to do and places to see. i would definitely recommend to stay here!

Super easy to find and the site was easy to access with the car. Hardly any light pollution so the stars were stunning 🤩

The location is convenient, being close to town. However, I found the price to be a bit high, especially considering the lack of on site or even nearby toilet facilities. Unfortunately, the servo was also closed when we wanted to go 😩

I would only recommend this spot if you’re just staying for the night. It’s not ideal for a camping trip. It’s essentially on the side of the road, unless you park as far down to the gate as possible such as we did (although that’s still not far from the house next door). Lots of people were also working there so it wasn’t very private. It just depends what you’re looking for - if it’s a pit stop then sure, it’s beautiful on one side and then you turn around and it’s a house and a road. Host was also quite blunt when I asked a question.
