Welcome to Port Macquarie's 'The Hatch Farm'; a pet friendly, interactive animal and fishing farm stay! A 150-acre working farm with a stunning outlook over the saltwater Maria River (with a rustic boat ramp and waterway running into the Hastings River). There is plenty to do and see at this hipcamp which was awarded to be one of the best hipcamps in NSW for 2024, and Australia wide for 2025! Located on the Mid North Coast NSW, 4kms off the Pacific Highway, and a quick 13/15-minute drive to the holiday township of Port Macquarie. Port Macquarie is known for its beautiful beaches, coastal scenery and walks, koala hospital, local strawberry and tomato picking, and 4WDing at nearby beaches and through Cairncross State Forest. Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. Port Macquarie's hidden gem! Mill Corner at The Hatch Farm is a shaded flat grassy campsite as you first enter the campground, closest to our amenities and the rustic boat ramp. It is great for small to medium set ups such as swags or tents (not suitable for caravans). Friendly pets welcome. All campsites are set back from the saltwater Maria River but still have a stunning outlook. You are welcome to set up an additional retreat by the bank or under the shady trees closer to the river for the duration of your stay (e.g. separate gazebo and/or enclosed fire pit). There is also plenty of space to tie your boat up in the river adjacent to your campsite, but please use designated trails down the bank to preserve it. Car driving access is very good with gravel road access to sites. During your farm stay, pat, feed and cuddle many of the working farm animals including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, mini horses, cows, guinea pigs, rabbits, and cats (there is always a newborn of some kind!). Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. It's the last site along the river (meaning that you will not have camp neighbors on the south side), and the furthest site from our amenities. There is plenty of room to spread out with room for multiple set ups, great for large family and friend groups. Friendly pets welcome. All campsites are set back from the river, but you are welcome to set up an additional retreat by the bank or under the shady trees for the duration of your stay (e.g. separate gazebo and/or enclosed fire pit). There is also plenty of space to tie your boat up in the river adjacent to your campsite, but please use designated trails down the bank to preserve it. We had an amazing stay at The Hatch and couldn’t recommend it more. Susan and Bernard were incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The campsites are spacious and well laid out, with large shelters and easy access to the river. Toilets and showers were spotless and clearly very well maintained. The setting is wonderfully relaxing and quiet—perfect for switching off and enjoying nature. For families, the animal nursery and the abundance of playground equipment would be a real highlight. We also loved the free kayaks, which were fantastic for exploring the river, and there are plenty of great spots for fishing too. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be coming back.

It was a grand camp-site with beautiful water views. Very quiet and calm. We had a party of 12 with a caravan, tents and swags, a boat and 2 jetskis with plenty of room to spare. We had our cars beside us. We found out to be a very secure site. Susan and Bernard were very accommodating and approachable. All of the animals were great. The babies were so cute and being able to pat and hold them was. a highlight. We caught some fish from the bank and jagged a big crab that we cooked up for a snack for 12. Firewood and bait was available to purchase and the amenities were well looked after. The young at heart enjoyed the trampoline and the climbing equipment. Highly recommended

We had a great stay at hatch farm, they made us feel very welcome, was great having showers and toilets to access. The kids enjoyed using the kayaks in the river and they loved all the animals.

Definitely worth a visit for a couple days. Lots of friendly animals around the farm, stayed with my partner and we loved playing with the baby rabbits and chooks in the rain. Kayaks and jackets ready to be grabbed on the quiet river which was lovely morning activity. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. If you’re planning to stay around port Macquarie would pop in for a couple nights. Great fun for kids.

It is one the most beautiful places, just the sound of the animals. Such good fun as well, my kids loved it and want to come back as soon as they can. Cutes nursery of little chicks and rabbits, a foal too. All animals love being fed and the dogs that roam are so good with kids. Mine played on the tiny beach with them for ages. Just a wonderful wholesome camping experience.

Hatch Farm is incredible!! The large and well kept camping sites right on the river make for a beautiful stay with some sites including a shelter for your tent, car or camp chair set up. The friendly hosts Susan and Bernard give you a nice welcome and keep you comfortable during your stay. All the facilities are clean and easily accessible including built-in portaloos, hot showers, outdoor sink, kids playground, trampoline, and kayaks! On there river there is great opportunity for fishing too! Now for the highlight of our stay… the farm! During your stay you can go over to the animal nursery and play with/feed all the adorable farm animals including rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs, ducks, geese, goats, chickens, goats, pigs, and miniature horses! Plus the farm has many friendly dogs roaming around to play with, our favourite being Jack who made himself at home at our camp and loves to play tug-of-war. The hatch farm is only 15 minutes out of Port Macquarie making it an amazing location for a nice getaway in the wilderness but close enough to town in case you forgot your toothbrush! We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially those with kids! We will definitely be back soon!

Loved it! Plenty of space between campers, lots to do, hot showers, kayaking, fishing and lots more. Plus there are the dogs Sally and Jack running around the campsite so you can play with them! But we can’t forget the nursery! There are lots of animals to cuddle with, and in the morning there’s even a tour so you can hold the baby bunny’s. I would definitely come back here with my family. 5 stars!

Bernard and Susan were very friendly and welcoming hosts. The place is beautiful, we spent three nights there and wished it was longer. Beautiful estate, well kept. The portaloo amd showers were very clean all the time. Every site comes with a fire place perfect for bbq. Lots of amenities and things to do around. Perfect for couples or families get away. Plus: lovely pair of friendly dogs.

What a fantastic spot. We went there for Christmas with our 3 daughters and dog for 4 nights Close to port but in the middle of nowhere. Bernard and Susan were fantastic hosts. Facilities were clean, fire wood is the best I have ever been provided with and is incredibly dry and easy to get started. The sites are large and generous. Great fishing spot with bait available for sale just made things easy. Kids playground kept the little ones entertained. Overall easy and relaxing experience.

What a beautiful family owned camp site. From the views to the peaceful and quiet setting. The owners Susan and Bernard were brilliant, called to us with firewood so we could cook marshmallows underneath the stars and always on hand if any issues arise. If you are looking for a break away from life this is the place to be. River right at your door step with kayaks and tinnies onsite for your enjoyment. A lovely little petting zoo for the kids to enjoy. Overall brilliant stay with brilliant people. I will be recommending to all my friends to come here.

Friendly helpful hosts. Beautiful location, stunning views across the river. Large camping areas. Best camp by far to date. Our daughter loved the play equipment and farm animals.

We loved staying at The Hatch Farm. This was such a lovely spot during our big Christmas trip. We were really impressed with the amenities and all of the activities Bernie and Susan have set up. We loved being able to have our 3 dogs off leash, particularly along the little beach. An amazing spot!
