Welcome to Port Macquarie's 'The Hatch Farm'; a pet friendly, interactive animal and fishing farm stay! A 150-acre working farm with a stunning outlook over the saltwater Maria River (with a rustic boat ramp and waterway running into the Hastings River). There is plenty to do and see at this hipcamp which was awarded to be one of the best hipcamps in NSW for 2024, and Australia wide for 2025! Located on the Mid North Coast NSW, 4kms off the Pacific Highway, and a quick 13/15-minute drive to the holiday township of Port Macquarie. Port Macquarie is known for its beautiful beaches, coastal scenery and walks, koala hospital, local strawberry and tomato picking, and 4WDing at nearby beaches and through Cairncross State Forest. Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. During NSW School Holidays, host led animal interactions will be available at designated times. Friendly pets welcome. For bookings call or text Susan 0418 842055

Port Macquarie's hidden gem! Mill Corner at The Hatch Farm is a shaded flat grassy campsite as you first enter the campground, closest to our amenities and the rustic boat ramp. It is great for small to medium set ups such as swags or tents (not suitable for caravans). Friendly pets welcome. All campsites are set back from the saltwater Maria River but still have a stunning outlook. You are welcome to set up an additional retreat by the bank or under the shady trees closer to the river for the duration of your stay (e.g. separate gazebo and/or enclosed fire pit). There is also plenty of space to tie your boat up in the river adjacent to your campsite, but please use designated trails down the bank to preserve it. Car driving access is very good with gravel road access to sites. During your farm stay, pat, feed and cuddle many of the working farm animals including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, mini horses, cows, guinea pigs, rabbits, and cats (there is always a newborn of some kind!). Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. During NSW school holidays, host led animal interactions will be available at designated times. Take one of our kayaks out for a paddle, cast a line (BYO rod), or launch your boat from our personal natural boat ramp into the saltwater Maria River, known for catching beaut’ mud crabs and flatheads (if you have a fishing / boating license). We have some bait available to purchase, and paddles and life jackets to borrow. By night, warm your toes by your own private firepit in the evenings as you gaze at the stars and roast a marshmallow. An absolute interactive delight for both kids and adults that will leave everyone begging to stay longer! The holiday township of Port Macquarie is a quick 13/15-minute drive away, famous for the stunning beaches, coastal scenery, koala hospital and good surf. Local well known 'Ricardoes Tomatoes and Strawberries' is also just around the corner. Within 25minutes there are amazing 4WD trails nearby (e.g. Cairncross State Forest), as well as numerous 4WD beach access points (permits required).

Port Macquarie's hidden gem! Site 10 is a super large, flat grassy campsite with a stunning outlook over the saltwater Maria River, which runs into Port Macquarie's main Hastings River. It's the last site along the river (meaning that you will not have camp neighbors on the south side), and the furthest site from our amenities. There is plenty of room to spread out with room for multiple set ups, great for large family and friend groups. Friendly pets welcome. All campsites are set back from the river, but you are welcome to set up an additional retreat by the bank or under the shady trees for the duration of your stay (e.g. separate gazebo and/or enclosed fire pit).
