Unfortunately we need to leave mid trip due to the place not being accurate as per the listing description.
It was specifically chosen among others because of the bathroom, but there is no shower and only a compost sit/toilet with a screen door.
Upon arrival it’s been suggested “a cold shower”, but there is only a hose outdoors. Which I’ve tried to wash my hands at least, but there was no water.
Furthermore, there is a water pump located right next to the bed, constantly making noise all night.
Overall, far away from being a $160 night worth experience. It was a long weekend and we had to ruin our plans, returning home, as we must shower and rest.

We had a great time in the happy camper and it has wonderful views both during the day and night, we had a fire nearby our camper and explored the area in the morning. Johno has three adorable goats and were very friendly. Would recommend for some good R&R and nice and private

Absolutely beautiful place to stay for the evening!! John has such a great set up. My only hesitation on recommending it is the price/night. Would be much more likely to recommend it if it was like $20/night. $48 seems a bit steep for a spot in the woods. But it John was lovely and the space was stunning.

Overall, our stay in "Happy" was a great experience. It was on a beautiful and spaced out property, and we were able to talk a walk on their land, which was amazing! I think next time my husband and I would for the bigger option as it was a bit right in the van with the 2 of us and my dog. The van was on slightly uneven ground, but that can be easily adjusted!
Great hosts, and would stay on their site again!

My husband, 2 dogs and I absolutely LOVED camping at Rainbow Retreat! John's property is stunning, the native wildlife passing through each morning and evening was a dream and the proximity to the most beautiful beaches was incredible.
John is a lovely host who offered advice on the best places to go when we arrived, and made sure to check in with us when the weather turned to ensure we were all safe.
We're already trying to find a time to come back! Highly recommend!

What an amazing Hipcamp! We had the whole site to ourselves and were completely in our own world. We slept without the outer skin of our tent and enjoyed the most beautiful starry nights. There were heaps of birds and native bushland around, enough firewood to keep us warm & cook our food and John gave us a friendly welcome when we arrived. Highly recommend this spot!

Amazing spot, well kept, really good location - very close to the beach, 10mins, without having the crowds of the general camping grounds. John is a really nice guy and has really good communication. We enjoyed the spot so much we book for another two night. Would definitely recommend, we hope to come back again soon!

Another Great Stay at John's place. This is my second time staying and this time brought the wife along.
We had a great site at the centre-back of the property and felt almost as if no one else was around us even though quite a few people were staying during the long weekend.
Johns hospitality is second to none - Great to catch up and say hello on arrival and easy to navigate to your site, no questions asked. You can come and go as you please and I feel it's a sign of the respect John has for his guests that his farm is always left clean and untouched out of respect from all those who stay.
The place is so quiet and brilliant for watching the stars at night. Super close access to Tallwoods Golf Club (although the wire didn't allow me to play) and only 5-10mins to Blackhead Beach.
Will be back again in the next 6-12 months no doubt, likely with more friends!

Just a short drive from the beach and close to Foodworks, Tranquil Oasis is a hidden gem. Surrounded by trees and open space, it's a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts. Despite a few other groups staying, we hardly saw anyone, just heard the soothing sounds of birds. Plus, being pet-friendly was a big bonus for us. We'd definitely recommend it and can't wait to go back ourselves!

John was a great host and location was very convenient to Black Head Beach where we did some great 4wd beach driving. Lots of dog friendly pubs too. We had the place to ourselves so was nice and quiet but unfortunately, while we were there, we had a huge downpour and the site got really wet and boggy and there were lots of mosquitoes

I arrived in my van about an hour before nightfall. I had a drive around looking for a nice grassy place to park for the night. But The place is a sparsely grassed woodland. The ground is hard and dry. I got out and walked around for a bit too. There is a dam but I wouldnt park up too close because there are billions of mosquitos and the blowflies are also huge. My dog got out of the van for a run but instead had a whimper and got back in the van after a quick piss. Id be happy to pay $20 a night but instead I paid $60 which is not acceptable. I offered the owner the opportunity to provide a partial refund in exchange for not writing a review but they politely declined.

Enough room for campers to not be in each others face. Plenty of firewood available. John was very helpful and accommodating. The location is close to several hubs for resupplies. Picturesque and calm.

John is a fantastic host, very welcoming and keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay on his beautiful property and the local surrounds.
The property itself is spacious will plenty of shady level spots to choose from. It’s ideal for groups.
There’s an abundance of bird life and a few kangaroos & wallaby’s roaming around.
The camp is very close to Black Head Beach and only a short drive to Forster. I particularly loved that Rainbow Retreat, Black Head and most of the surrounding areas are super dog friendly. Big thumbs up for me!
We will be back for sure.

We camped at Rainbow Flat and had an excellent experience. The site was fantastic. Quiet and chilled, with only the 'roos and kookaburras (and some other burds) to share with. Close to great beaches and shops. We would return in a heartbeat.
