Large flat open space for setups all sizes. Plenty of room and cold shower and basic camp kitchen.

overall was fine, nice big area of land and lots of spots to choose from. we found the campsite hard to find at first as apparently there were signs to follow but there were no signs until you got to the campsite entrance. main kitchen/seating area was very dirty and unkempt and could be much more well maintained - we didn’t use it due to its condition. same for the portaloos, they were quite unclean. apart from that it was a beautiful area and very quiet, lots of kangaroos around.

We love this place so peaceful and quiet. we have stayed quite a few times. Shady spots, camp kitchen, portaloos, cold fresh shower. Perfect.

What a mess, great potential but not worth the money for such a badly maintained property. There was rubbish all around the shower area, a broken shower curtain that got in the way of a horrible cold shower without privacy, and the toilets were disgusting. The public area was a mess too. Property could be nice if anyone bothered to clean up but at that price you’re much better off going to a caravan park.

Lots of big space so you weren't too close to other campers. Very close to the beach and beautiful night sky. Facilities were good and clean and the bbq/sink was handy.

This hipcamp ticks a lot of boxes as it provides spacious grounds with private sites, water tap available, bins provided and portaloos. It's only a 10 minute drive to the heart of Yamba. Unfortunately there seems to be some attention and maintenance required to make this place the best it can be. We booked one week and arrived on Saturday the 3rd January and found the grounds and facilities in a state that was underwhelming. The grass was long, the bins were overflowing with rubbish, the 4 portaloos were almost at capacity and produced a smell that forced us to close up out van each night when the wind dropped. They were topped up with chemicals and toilet paper on Wednesday, but really should have been serviced then, but were pumped out on Friday, just before we left. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we're not impressed with the upkeep of the property, considering the higher price point over the Christmas period.

Loved this spot! All the national park camping spots were booked out so booked here instead. I camped by the water and had no issues with bugs. I had my water own facilities so can’t comment on toilet or showers but was an incredible property with lots of roos crossing the water in the morning. Super close less than 15 min drive into Yamba, easily accessible for 2WD campervan. The owners were super responsive and helpful, felt really safe as a solo female camper.

I would recommend seeing what other camping alternatives are available & give this one a miss unless you are stuck for another option. We’ve stayed at a better Hipcamp previously & regularly camp at other National Park & mainstream camping options that are cheaper with better facilities.
We were traveling south & needed one night of accommodation hence booked the East Side Birdwatchers. On arrival found it is a rough paddock that I assume cows normally graze in. Situated beside a mangrove swamp so need plenty of mossie repellant.
We were charged $86.65 for two people for one night & felt ripped off. While it was peak period/high season in Yamba, we had just paid about $80 per night for three people to camp up at Tamborine Mountain in a much better appointed campground.
At Micalo Eco there are a couple of portaloos & presumably showers in a neighbouring paddock which is less rough & better maintained. Not much shade for campers unless you hug the perimeters to get close to vegetation.
The blurb made it sound better than it actually is.

Very good and quiet spot. The BBQ wasn't working, toilets were very clean. Need to bring your own grill for the firepits if you want to cook.

There was a romantic kitchen & dinning area right in the middle of the camp grounds. Loved this feature as it was an open plan with a large cover and able to do your dishwashing. There was a walk trail to the river, but did not get there because the walk way was full of mozzie.

Beautiful spot, lots of space, plenty of wildlife to appreciate.
Facilities were fantastic, lots of portaloos and bins, communal cooking/hanging out area was great would love to spend more time there if we stayed longer!
Lots of fire pits for each campsite to enjoy :)
Love the touch of the lizard, dragon and dinosaur statues around the place haha. Kids would love it!

There were many campers but the site is large enough that it still felt somewhat private.
Easily accessible and close to town.
The only down side is that the portaloo is not well maintained and the shower is basically an open air shower like if you were at the beach.
Overall the stay was good but it is overpriced compared to other hip camp we've been to; At least for what it offers.

Overall we had a great experience despite the very hefty cost which does not justify the zero facilities you get for your money.
Unfortunately, the site was close to many other camps and didn't feel as private as we expected.
