Discover 528 acres of Wollumbin paradise. McKenzies Mountain is run by a sixth generation pioneer family, and boasts a kilometer of river frontage, four kilometers interspersed with waterfalls and rockpools, over a hundred acres of pristine rainforest, and a 2000 ft elevation mountain peak. Plus it's home to 125 head of cattle. It's simply a magical country camping spot. There is plenty to do, including swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and crystal fossicking. Just next door, within walking distance, is the Hare Krishna farm, where they run Hare Krishna farm tours, workshops, and Yoga retreats. Each camping area has been chosen to ensure space and privacy for all guests, good access and lovely views.

Heavy Vehicle Camp allows large buses, Winnebago's, RVs, Truck campers and even semi trailers to access McKenzie's Mountain, the bridge has a 40 ton weight limit and school buses and semi trailers use it every day. The site had no access to the creek water which was a fair walk away but was nice and remote with a camp fire.. John and Greg were welcoming and helpful

Arrived three hours later then I told James but he came straight to us once we pulled in made sure we had light to set up in the dark. I had booked a higher site then I wanted James put us right at river bank which was perfect to wake up to. River deep in spots shallow in others which worked great with our different aged kids. We paddle boarded, my son fished. Not sure if anything worth catching but he’s 9 and doesn’t care lol plenty of room in between sites road noise was no issue at all bridge is a bit noisy and that yoga place next door is busy lol but didn’t bother us. James sells HUGE bags of firewood 5 for $40 we took two home left 2 and a half as just couldnt fit them in car. Lovely green grassy camp! We loved it In the car. Drop toilets Im told had heaps n heaps of toilet paper and seemed clean enough I didn’t use as brought our own.

This location is exactly as stated and what you would expect for the price. I chose the paddock camping for $19 as a layover heading north from Sydney. The paddock is decently flat, slashed to an appropriate height and has plenty of space. Its a natural paddock that has cows, so expect cow pats, its not hard to avoid them. Mountains are a great view, the river is nice, but bring some swim shoes as its a stone river and can either be a bit slippery or just a surprise rock. Slept well, caretaker is proactive and greets at the gate, and it was nice and empty being a Monday, had a chat to one of the other guests and they were nice.

Great piece of land and only a 45min drive from the Gold Coast. We had a 3 night stay and the kids lived riding bikes and swimming in the river. James was really nice and the land was kept well. We will be back for sure!

I was met by Greg, who showed me a map of the grounds, showing where the Paddock areas were. I selected a spot right in the back corner, shaded by the line of trees. It was just what I needed, peaceful and quiet. My wee Jack Russell, Bella was in heaven, able to roam within reason without annoying anyone else. Other campers were friendly too. James was very helpful when I had a problem with my lithium battery. It went flat, & he gladly took it and recharged it overnight. These are owners worth their weight in gold. Thanks James. The creek was flowing but not that deep but it has been very dry recently. James directed me to a public swimming area at Hidden Valley, & I found another couple of great spots, 1 at Old Lismore Rd, & the other at Palmers Rd outside Uki. Nice little Village Uki, well worth a visit. I shall definitely be back. Thanks James & Greg. Totally worth the trip.

McKenzie’s was incredible! Amazing location, beautiful wildlife and so much space in our spot. The river is stunning and has many places along it to enjoy the views or take a dip. Jimmy was a legend and a wealth of knowledge about the area. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to visit again!

Tea Tree Camp
Tea Tree Camp is a spacious site on the river. The creek beside the camp is deeper making it a great spot for swimming. The kids also enjoyed exploring the shallow areas and rocky section near the bridge. Shade is limited throughout the site, so it was quite hot during the middle of the day. Bring a gazebo to sun shelter during the hotter months. If you are planning on swimming, make sure you pack water shoes. The host (James) recommended wearing shoes as there is bullrout in the creek. One thing to note: the property shares a road and wooden bridge with Krishna Village. There was a steady flow of vehicles coming and going over the weekend, which I hadn't expected. This may be less of an issue during weekdays. Overall, Tea Tree Camp was a beautiful location with plenty of space. We'd happily return for another stay.

Nice camping spot. James is absolutely amazing. He was great help when I got the batteries of the trailer flat. The spot is nice and the creek is very refreshing. Good spot for a quick getaway over the weekend.

I was greeted by Greg on entry to the location - very personable and friendly with lots of local knowledge. Large open paddock camping and really lovely riverside locations. Go and checkout the turtles and platypus playing the in the river. A very quiet and peaceful place to stay and with a great view of Wollumbin (Mount Warning).

Had a lovely stay at McKenzies Mountain. The grounds were so peaceful and the grass well maintained. Swimming in the river was an absolute highlight! It was cool, fresh, and clean with some lovely deep bits for decent swimming and shallow bits for exploring. Some absolutely stunning spots for a little picnic or afternoon bevvie with the running water below. James was very thorough and greeted us on entrance. He offered to help up find a spot as we arrived after dark which was very kind. Firewood available. I do have one point of feedback regarding toilet maintenance - it was at times a bit uncomfortable as they were not turned over quickly enough for the volume of people, but I’ll let it slide as it was a long weekend in both QLD and NSW. It was so lovely seeing all the dogs around, the pets had a blast on our trip. Great proximity to Murwillumbah, tropical fruit world and the brewery for day visits. Overall I would recommend this place for a super easy, accessible and low fuss camp trip, and I and the rest of our group all agree we would come back and visit this site again.

Great place to stay. Lots of room and not right on top of each other. Nice creek which was lovely to sit in. Plenty of porta loos around which were always stocked with toilet and never really smelled bad.

Camping situation wasn’t bad. Close to a lake and great flat camping area but major issues with the porter-loos. Filthy and looked like they had never been cleaned. No hand soap or running water to flush or wash hands. AND could see everyone’s business inside the toilet bowls. I would rather this camp ground not list toilets as a provided facility.

This was a great spot, river was very inviting and we managed to camp up the back on the top paddock where we had plenty of room to ourselves considering it was a long weekend and how busy everywhere was. Firewood was cheap and good quality and paddocks were kept reasonably well for camping. Unfortunately we found on our last day about 20+ ticks on our dogs which could have come from the cattle or in the paddock somewhere.

Great spot on the Creek, lovely mate on the gate helping me secure a good spot as I was the motorbike I could tuck into a small spot by the creek edge. Firewood was cheap too, which was great. Was quite packed in on the long weekend, but plenty of space to share, so didn't feel overcrowded. Not much in the way of amenities beside a port-a-loo, but you gotta know that coming into it.
