Hunter River Bush Camp
A great, secluded private spot well away from the host's house. The track in isn't super easy, but with an offroad van you'll be fine. Make the effort to take the walk down to the Hunter River - perfect for swimming, fairly shallow although the current is surprisingly strong as you go further out. We couldn't get our dogs out of the river "Mum, five more minutes!"
It is challenging to get your van level - we had to get her up nearly 150mm to get east-west level, and even then struggled to get north-south level. Would be the perfect private spot if the host could get a little section levelled out for the vans.
Highly rate this place - but bring your ramps and a bit of timber to level up.

Hunter River Bush Camp
Had a lovely couple of nights with another 2 friends at Christian's hipcamp. Bit difficult to find a level spot for the camper trailer but apart from that we loved it.
Great fire pit, didn't see a sole until we ventured into town (Greta) for some supplies.
We'll be back one day!!

Hunter River Bush Camp
Christian was fantastic with easy going, friendly communication. Easy location to find. The site is private with trees surrounding you and beautiful bird noises to be heard. Be aware however, although private, you are exposed to a public walking track at the bottom flatter section where we set up…. and we had many people walk past while we were camped., which was initially disconcerting. The block is quite sloped, leaving limited spots to set up. You need to level a lot.
The river is quite a hike but doable. Very pretty walk: Unfortunately it ends at a cliff edge as the flood has ripped the river bank away. Don’t think you can just pop down with the camping chairs and chill by the water… it’s not accessible for that.
All in all it was close to home, we had service to watch the footy and our doggies loved running and exploring. Great for people wanting to camp close to town. Thanks Christian for sharing your space.

We booked a last minute overnight camp trip here at Hunter River Bush camp. Firstly we took our dog down to the river and she just had a ball. We set up the swag, started a fire with the wood that Christian provided, cracked a can and sat back and relaxed. It was super private and being able to let our dog have the freedom of not being tied up is such a nice experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend highly for those wanting an easy, private stay. Thanks Christian for hosting us!

Hunter River Bush Camp
The privacy in the woods with no other campers, along with the firepit and bush pig provided by Christian made for a great weekend getaway.
The site was a bit slopey in areas but our group of 6 and a dog still managed to find flat enough spots to pitch our tents. Recent rainfall made the short trek to the water trickier and the river banks inaccessible but good to get your heart rate up hiking back from as far as we could.
Christian communicated well about the site and what to expect so we were able to come prepared I.e our own camp toilets and water sources.

Hunter River Bush Camp
A private bush campsite with river access but only a 5min drive/ 40min walk into town.
Recent heavy rainfall meant the river was higher than normal, making access to the water challenging but we still had a great time. Our dogs could run amok without having to worry about disturbing other people.
Christian was really welcoming and a great communicator.
Bring mosquito coils and repellent as even in the cold weather the mozzies were around.

I liked that you had a large cleared site all to yourself. Some really nice bush walks with the dogs along the river. It was very windy so appreciated being able to use the ozpig provided to cook on and keep warm. Christian is a great host, quick to respond. I will definitely be back.

It is a great spot, peaceful and private, there had been a lot of rain so it was damp and a little muddy which is to be expected. The walk to the river was pretty, a little slippery and probably not very suitable for water sports when flowing fast, and track can be steep in parts. There isn't a level area so a tent set up would be a little sloped. Could be awesome if there were more level areas.

Christians camp is a a great spot The views and surrounds are amazing. The kids and dogs loved it. My only recommendation would be to have some very decent chocks for caravans as site is on a slope so big chocks are needed. Would love to visit again.

Hunter River Bush Camp
We stayed for 4 nights - enjoyed the walk to the lookout spot and up and down the sandstone steps through the native bush land. Saw possums and heard kangaroos. Peaceful and secluded but close drive to shops etc. Loved that we could take our dog and hang out with friends and family but not have to share the site with other campers. Sloping site so needed some extra wood and chocks to level up but ok if you are prepared. Would stay here again.

This is a nice spot! Very private and secluded, away from other houses & the road. Excellent & clear directions.
As others mentioned the site is sloped but it is manageable.
The river was great - water surprisingly warm! Our dog loved swimming. The walk to the river is only about 5 mins but it is steep. Calf muscles got a workout going back up the stairs haha.
Overall very relaxing weekend :)

We had a wonderful night camping at Christian’s land, the instructions and communication before were really easy to follow and the site itself was perfect for us. Our dog loved exploring and the walk down to the river was beautiful too. I would definitely recommend here and we can’t wait to return!

The communication from Christian was great. The location is very private, we had it to ourselves and our dogs could be off lead with no problems.
The block is really sloped, there is only one spot that was not.
We had had a lot of rain the week before we came and the river was quite inaccessible. We found a waterhole about a 10 min drive away that was a great place to spend the day.
The town is only a 2 minute drive that has everything you need, ice, bottlo, bakery and a small supermarket, even Maccas!
The outlook of the block is lovely, but the slope was difficult.

Nice secluded bush camp close to the Hunter wineries. Lovely bush walk to the river with great views. Not many level areas, as it is nicely tucked away behind some hills away from the houses. Hosts communicated well but left us alone, which we liked. Would recommend.

An amazing spot very close to Sydney and surrounds. We stayed for a single night getaway with our dog and it was perfect. No livestock, just some roos.
Relatively easy to get into the camp ground down a bush track. We got in with our 2WD station wagon no probs.
Incredibly private. There’s only one camp spot and you have it to yourself. You won’t see another person while you’re here.
This one is for self-contained campers only. There’s nothing here other than a clearing to roll out the swag and put up the camp chairs, a bush track and a river which was absolutely perfect for us.
Phone service everywhere, including down at the river.
Totally dog friendly. No thistles or massive prickle patches. Perfect for the four legged companion.
If you’re going in summer, bring some earplugs for the arvo cicada session. They’re very loud but are quiet once the sun goes.
Christian is a legend, amazing instructions and was super helpful with any and all requests.
10/10 would recommend (but again, don’t expect a loo or shower block).

Amazing private and peaceful spot, directions were easy to follow to the campsite and very accessible by 2wd. The campsite is beautiful and well maintained, the firepit and stove were great. Plenty of beautiful tracks to walk near the river.

Perfect place in the Hunter region for camping. Close to shops and ammenities. Very quiet at night. Not much wildlife at the time we camped. Ground is a bit sloped so hard to find a flat level surface for the camper trailer but made do with what we had. Instructions were clear and Christian was helpful and answered all questions. Thank you, would book again when staying in the Hunter region.
