Our place is 187 acres of natural Snowy Mountains. There are two dams, natural ground springs and plenty of species of gumtrees. It is home to native animals big and small and many natural features and views. Close by you can enjoy the Eucumbene dam 10 minutes to the North with great Trout fishing and Jindabyne 25 minutes to the South. Kosciousko National Park is located to the West with several access points. Sitting at an elevation of 1270m above sea level it gets blanketed in snow in winter and beautiful sun in summer.This camp is 100% Snowy Mountain bliss. Back to basics will let you get in your natural element. There is no power or showers but there is a fresh water dam with a jetty. The only noises you here will be from nature! Sitting at an elevation of 1270m above sea level you have a high chance of snow in the winter and in summer it is a great base for any hiking, fishing or exploring you want to do throughout Kosciousko National Park or the Snowy Monaro. We are totally pet friendly but would like your animals to respect the native wildlife. Camp fires are allowed between April and October. Guests will have access to a flush toilet throughout their stay and bush shack which has been made from the timber on the property. There is phone service at the property with both Telstra and Optus. Just down the road is the historical Rocky Plain School (1883) that you can borrow books from at the community library.

This camp is 100% Snowy Mountain bliss. Back to basics will let you get in your natural element. There is no power or showers but there is a fresh water dam with a jetty. The only noises you here will be from nature! Sitting at an elevation of 1270m above sea level you have a high chance of snow in the winter and in summer it is a great base for any hiking, fishing or exploring you want to do throughout Kosciousko National Park or the Snowy Monaro. Perfect seclusion

Great spot for a variety of campers, caters to those that want a huge big grassy area or others that want a quiet secluded bush camp to themselves. We noticed how absolutely absent of road or aircraft noise, or any man-made noise really. Our camper trailer got through the bush tracks easily and we found a nice sheltered spot from the high winds (big rigs would'nt make one of the sharper bush track turns due to a tree). Huge rigs of any size could find numerous places in the main clearing around the dam/shed which would be perfect for large groups. Incredible amount of easy to grab firewood sets this place apart. Flushing toilet another bonus. We got nice and close to an Echidna too.

High Country Camping has made our list of favourite camping spots! We loved our stay- it was so peaceful, spacious and quiet. The hosts Jayne and Tim are super friendly and the flushing toilet on site was just a bonus. Definitely recommend taking ALL rubbish with you though (we picked up some from previous campers at this property) as they have cattle who pass through the area. Would love to come back again in the future, thank you!!

Spacious beautiful and dog-friendly

We were there mid week and basically had the place to ourselves. The area is truly massive and as long as people don’t need to be super close to the bathroom, you won’t even see each other. We had one other person stay that night in an RV and never even saw each other after the first quick hello. Our doggo also loved being free to run and explore and the big open area made it very relaxing for us to know he wasn’t getting up to any mischief. Loved the peacefulness and beauty of the camp spot, will definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful area for camping. Tremendous amounts of space and was incredible for taking photos of the stars and relaxing by the fire. The property recommends a 4x4 which would probably be true during wet weather however it was dry when we went and our small ASX had no issues making it through the property. Would absolutely stay here again.

Loved the property! Heaps of space to choose a good site, with lots of options! Tracks can be hard to see, so would recommend getting there before sunset to find the best spot. Beautiful views, very private, easy to find, 10/10

We loved our stay! Property is huge so many prime spots to be able to pull up and set camp. Jayne and Tim are lovely and super quick to respond. We had such a lovely weekend next to the fire under the stars. The toilet and shelter are great little luxuries. Excited to come back!

We loved camping at this spot, my partner and I and our 2 dogs had a great time, we we'll definitely be back! beautiful surroundings, there wasn't many people camping when we were there so it was very quiet which was nice, we also really liked the fact that it was a very natural piece of land without much human intervention, hence, "back to basics", overall we loved it!!

High Country Camping Back to Basics
High Country Camping was a basic paddock which served the purpose of needing a place to camp over night. I was disappointed that the photos on the listing were not a true representation of what actually was there. The price should be reviewed (lowered) or tidy up what is on offer to avoid disappointment for future guests.

Perfect location for a quiet peaceful camp. Our doggos loved exploring with us and swimming in the dam! We did several day trips out to the nearby lakes and wineries/ breweries. This camp spot was a great base camp and very enjoyable for the time we spent there. Would love to come back in winter! If you come for a summer trip, be prepared for some March flies on warm, calm days.

Beautiful location. My friend and I were the only people staying, as far as I could tell. The weather was unfortunately not on our side, however the hut beside the dam provided excellent shelter for us as it had a table and a couple of benches. The toilet on the far side was out of the way (a good thing) and clean. It was a beautiful spot to camp, we really enjoyed it.

We loved this Hipcamp! Plenty of space, wildlife and beautiful Australian native plants. We woke each morning to sheep and kangaroos nearby. There is so much to explore and we were fascinated by the wombat burrows! It was a really quiet space to call home for a couple of days.

We absolutely loved our stay at Jayne's. Lovely open spaces to explore, plenty of firewood available and our dogs loved playing in the patches of snow! Unfortunately we could only stay for the one night but we'll be back for sure!

It was an excellent area to camp with our caravans, plenty of space to park that you weren't on top of each other's camp, we were lucky enough to have a snowfall which transformed the land into a wonder land, thanks for an excellent holiday Jayne.

Huge property, nice to have a toilet. A really lovely bit of land with lots of trees and sheep! Would definitely recommend staying here, only 30 mins from Jindabyne.

Communication with Jayne was hassle free and the location was private. No issues there. However, upon reflection, I would offer that paying $45 per night to camp on someone's sheep paddock is expensive.

It was the perfect quiet location with lots of space. There was the freedom to pick any place on the property and set up camp. Our dogs also had a great time wandering around. We will definitely be back!

Loved staying out at Jaynes place. Tidy and loads of places to park up! Bonus to have plenty of space for the dog and kids to run about. Great spot, will certainly be back.

We loved camping here the amenities were very clean and had lots of space to set up without feeling too close to other campers. Dam wasn’t swimable but that must’ve just come down to the time of year

Great clearing for camping, the toilet and under cover area is a big plus. Sadly the weather wasn’t great for fishing so I’ll have to come back to get them trout haha

The property is Midway between lake Jindabyne and lake Eucumbene. The toilet wasn't easy to find (particularly when arriving at night time). Also the advert stated you could wash in the dam, which was quite horrible, dirty, slimy and no way you could swim in this water. The big negative is that it was $50.00 per night (+ admin fee to Hipcamp). This was very expensive for no facilities and in the middle of nowhere.
