Such a lovely, peaceful campsite right by the river — perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. Happy cows wander freely nearby, adding to the charm and calm atmosphere. David is incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We stayed the night on the way to visit family then also a night on the way home. We will definitely be back to stay a few days next time!

Great place even if you don’t like fishing. Watching the bird life and jumping fish is so calming Very quiet and the host, Dave is warm and friendly. Bring bug spray and be prepared for some wind but such a lovely spot. Thanks so much Dave for opening your home for us.

Lovely grassy spot at the waters edge. We chose a windy evening but woke up to calm bliss. Big area with a limit on camp spots means there’s always some space.

Not sure where to start… the views, the uncrowded location, the peace and quiet, David’s hospitality?
All tip top. Would book again and will recommend to all my like minded mates.
The shower up by the man cave was all time though… and the location a perfect base for exploring coast and country.
Cheers for opening your property David, for people like me who are city bound it is great to know these places exist to be enjoyed.

This was a great spot and made all the more peaceful due to the limited number of campers allowed. The breeze coming off the water made the stay so much more pleasant in 35-37 degree days. Our van was parked only a couple of metres from the waters edge and swimming was enjoyable thanks to the sandy bottom. David and Annette were fantastic, welcoming hosts. We will be back

This is a fantastic spot right on the waters edge. The sandy area to the Northern end is shallow and perfect to cool off. Our host David was very friendly

Great spot.. plenty of birdlife…Ulmurra / Southgate ferry not operating since July but easy to launch a tinnie or kayak and head to town if needed to pub.. we had lunch at Lawrence pub.. was a good feed and great atmosphere.
Grassy site.. cows wandering…

Great spot ideally located next to ferry allowing access to pup over the river. Beautiful scenic river views, the location has character and the owner is really nice and helpful. The shower was clean, hot and a welcome visit after a days fishing on the water. Site is thick lush green grass.

You cannot get any closer to the water if you tried. Car Ferry right to the gate, Ulmara Pub on the other side of the Clarence River. Even has a Shower that you can use, and he doesn't overcrowd the groups. Top Spot amongst the cows, highly recommended.

Great spot on the river. Easy access to water for swimming/water sports etc. Beautiful views. David was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We loved our four nights there and will definitely be back.

What a beautiful grassy spot to camp, right on the Clarence river providing easy access for swimming and fishing and heaps of room to spread out. Other campers were able to launch boats from the shore. Our host, David, was very accomodating and made sure we had lovely time. We will definately be back when next in the area.

We as a group loved the week and a bit we stayed at this site. We met some awesome people at this camp site and they won’t be forgotten.
We enjoyed the beauty and riches it has to offer. We had to bring our own shower and toilet( big deal when you’re equipped right yeh) , you will understand when there. It’s nature at its very best., grass under your feet, tidal water just in front, cows having a chew on the grass in the morning , fishing, swimming and others would say, living next door to Alice or Alan, depends on the version of the song you listen to.
Someone call Barry and tell him this is living.
Highly recommend this place.
Ferry takes you there from Ulmarra. The ferry is free and is run by NSW RTA. Great bunch of people looking after you to make sure you have a safe and happy stay. Just do yourself a favour and book this place on your to do list as you pass through. Southgate on the Clarence at Grafton.

Loved our time on the Clarence stayed for 2 weeks lots of water sports, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, room for kids to run around, friendly cows.

What a fabulous place to spend a few days , David is a great host who showed us where to park and gave us some wood and a fire drum , we camped right on the edge of the water , amazing view and a quick trip across the river on the ferry to the local pub for lunch .

Absolutely fabulous! Camped right beside the river with an amazing view. We were able to have a campfire each night and our generous host provided extra timber for us. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by David who also gave us information on the best fishing position and advised that there was good beam & flathead to be caught. It really was a wonderful, relaxing, idyllic camping experience. We will definitely be back and spend more time there next time. Thank you David!

Bloody brilliant! Would love to come back and camp here for longer. So beautiful right on the river. We came in the van and are keen to come back with the boat. Hicamps stated only 16ft vans, we have 22ft, we messaged via Hicamps and David confirmed it would be ok as it wasn't wet. Took van down easily onto the camp area. Stayed only one night, ferry right next to us, caught it over to Ulmarra a great little town with an awesome pub, only 10min walk from ferry. Foot/car ferry only, to come in with the van is via Lawrence or Grafton. David was away but called to settle us in and let us know hot showers and water were available if needed, very welcoming. So to were the cows who greeted us good morning up close moving the chains on the van to wake us up, it was a great way to wake up.

The owners were so lovely right from our journey in. David made sure we found our way via the car ferry (very close by), offered shower amenities for us and allowed us to enjoy a late check out.
We were able to choose our spot when we got there. We camped right by the river but still felt the farm living with the huge open space and the animals in the distance.
Would definitely recommend a stay here!

Absolutely fantastic spot right on the river bank. Vistas up and down the river shared only with a few Pelicans. Annette and David were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely camp here again the next time we come through.
