This is a working farm approx 70% cleared remainder bush. Sub Alpine so the temperature can change quickly and snow, the area has quite a verity of bird and animals. There are currently 5 paddocks available no set campsites you pick your own site near mountain stream or in the bush also available is a self-contained cottage (view our separate listing for Calabash Manager's Cottage). This has 4 bedrooms bathroom, 3 rooms have queen size and 1 has a single, kitchen, heating when required is a slow combustion wood stove very relaxing. There are no amenities for campers, please BYO and leave no trace. There is plenty of branches and wood on the ground for a fire but please no fires when fire bans in place. Dogs are OK but as we are a sheep property they must be well controlled and on a leash and not left to roam. We prefer smaller dogs. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place. Plenty of firewood around to gather your own. If you want it cut it for you then buy some as an extra and add it to your order. Please check with the host on arrival regarding local fire conditions. No set areas for camping - choose when you get here. Suitable for caravans, motor homes, tents. Lots of options! No mobile phone reception if you walk around the paddock you may get a signal, If you need to contact us once you have a booking, contact us via email or landline. Temperature can change quickly and in winter you could be snowed in, so be prepared.

The location is incredible and the cabin has everything you could wish for including an amazing fireplace that keeps the whole place nice and toasty, but the best part we're the owners, such genuine welcoming people that make you feel right at home. I highly recommend this beautiful place with incredible hospitality, we will be back

We stayed at the mangers cottage . Great stay . The place is fully equipped. Clean and tidy . We welcomed the hot shows after a few days camping . The hosts were very welcoming and communication was great .

Calabash Manager's Cottage
We had a fantastic time, the cottage is cozy and the views were lovely. We had some hot water issues but our host was amazing at getting this fixed asap for us. Great little getaway for us and the dogs who loves running around in the enclosed yard.

This is the second time our family stayed at Tony’s farm! It has a very beautiful view, lots of sheeps, bird watching, camp fire, our kids loved playing around and as adults relaxed and enjoyed the view with a glass of wine!

We loved this place. Very peaceful environment. Not too far from Canberra. Tony is helpful and friendly. Everything good. We will definitely return back and highly recommend this beautiful place.

I really enjoyed my time @ Calabash. It was great to be surrounded by sheep. I enjoyed the fireplace for 2 nights with its roaring fire. The Cottage was cosy and warm. The shower was wonderful. The cottage was well equipped. If you want a relaxing weekend this is the place for you. Tony was a lovely host and went out of his way to bring firewood and a doona for me. Thanks for having my dog and I, we really had a relaxing time. We will definately come again. Cheers Clare

Beautiful views, great hospitality by the hosts and completely off grid to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We will come again. The kids loved it.

Peaceful cottage on the mountain
Calabash Manager's Cottage
Tony and Somsri are amazing Hosts! From the minute we arrived at the cottage, Tony made us feel at home. He told us all about the history of his farm, the cottage and his lifestyle as a sheep farmer. The cottage was very tidy and had all the basics we needed for our stay. We spent a good amount of time relaxing on the deck of the cottage looking out over the rolling hills of one of the paddocks. There was an incredible diversity of wildlife and I would recommend anyone who is a birdwatcher to not skip Calabash. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in the area.

Calabash Manager's Cottage
Stayed in the Calabesh Cottage, the accommodation was clean and well maintained. It was a treat to spend some time with the owner (Tony), who showed us around the property and even allowed the kids to hand-feed one of the sheep. Will certainly be back in future.

Fantastic off Grid experience

Absolute serenity. Truly peaceful and relaxing. Wood fire very warm and effective. Bird life beautiful. Tony and Somsri super lovely and friendly. Would have loved to of stayed longer. Do note, most of the road just past Michealago turn off, is dirt fire track road best suited to 4WD in the wet. For simple town cars, do take it easy. Mum blew a new tyre in second gear on some sharp rocks on way home. Boys and I barely got out of first gear due to steep terrain and slipping.

The cabin is very comfortable and great value, we slept so well every night in the quiet environment. The farm is in a lovely spot to relax and unwind. We loved scenery and our stay. The host is friendly, helpful and informative. We really enjoyed our stay we will be back

Spent an amazing night at the cottage! Tony and Somsri were super helpful with directions to the property and very welcoming. The property is surrounded by beautiful bush land and heaps of wildlife. Tony showing us around the farm and letting us meet the animals made it all the better! The cabin has everything you need with a fireplace to keep you warm at night! Remember to bring linen!

Calabash Manager's Cottage
The two absolute best thing about Calabash are the incredibly clean air (and cool while I was there) and the quietude - just the noise of sheep, breeze, birds and frogs. The overall view across to other ranges is lovely and the sunsets were beautiful. The house has a wood fire and was built for a family so plenty of room. Tony is a perfect host.

Calabash is a great spot to bird watch and bush walk and would be excellent for wildflowers in spring - Tony cares for the land and the property is teeming with wildlife - perfect for a quiet getaway with nature and no interruptions

The most amazing experience!!!
Calabash Manager's Cottage
Beautiful hospitality, combined with extraordinary scenic views, endless amounts of land to explore, lovey sunrises and sunsets. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to have a scenic escape away from the city, to clear your head or admire the tranquil/unique environment. Tony was great to have a chat with while we were there, such a top bloke who really looked after you! Couldn’t highly recommend this enough!! 100/100

Terrific weekend site - easy to get to from the ACT - quiet and peaceful site. Very friendly owners - taking the time to show the shearing sheds and ins and outs of tractors - very much appreciated by the little one!

Best place to stay for 1-3 nights near Canberra. Very cool place and Tony ( host) is very humble person. We spend 2 nights this weekend with family friends and we enjoy more than expected. We always recommend to all to visit/stay this lovely place once.

Calabash Manager's Cottage
The cottage isn't a 5 star glamping spot, but the views are great, the opportunity to bushwalk is excellent, and we felt comfortable and at home the entire time. This place really knocks it out of the park for value for money. As to how well your hosts treat you, the fridge died when we were there, and they have a cool room about 150m from the cottage. They told us to put our food in there then made the nearly 4 hour round trip into canberra just to grab a fridge, on Easter Saturday no less.

We had a lovely stay at Calabash Manager's Cottage. Tony was an amiable host and showed us around the farm and shearing shed, the kids even had a chance to feed the lambs. The cottage consists of four bedrooms, two with queen beds and two with single beds. There was also a lovely slow-burning fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped to cook a meal. Remember to take your own doonas, pillows and towels. And if you are really desperate you might be able to find the odd bit of mobile signal.
