Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River. The campsite is next to the river - you can hike on nearby trails, canoe, swim or fish. There’s a general store 1 km away and if you want pizza by the stars we can cook for you. Horses in neighbouring paddocks graze as you relax in the open spaces. Fires are only allowed when it’s not bushfire season. The Wollemi National Park is a fantastic place to traverse the wilderness, connection between Aboriginal peoples and this land can be seen throughout the park, including rock carvings. There’s no reason you can’t bring your own horse and camp right beside. You can hire a canoe and explore the pristine waterway and may even catch a glimpse of a platypus. Deer and wallabies frequent the valley and bird life is in abundance. Perfect for getaway and recreation.

Site 1 - C Colo - just beautiful
We had a great time with just two of us at C Colo but can see it would also work really well for groups too. There is variety between the campsites and we found a perfect little one to suit just us. Steve and Danielle were great hosts and we enjoyed a good chat. It rained on arrival but the land dried quickly and it wasn't an issue at all. We will absolutely come back to explore more on a longer stay soon!

Site 3 - C Colo - just beautiful
We had a fantastic time here with our two dogs! Steve is an absolute legend of a host — welcoming, responsive, and accommodating. The property is beautiful, with lovely scenic views, and being so close to the river is a real bonus. We absolutely recommend Steve’s place and will definitely be back!

Fig Tree Hill
Really enjoyed our stay at Steve’s place! He brought us over fire wood which kept us going for the night and also some brownies and a few secret presents for the winners of a raffle! Would highly recommend! Great location a short walk away from a river with a rope swing and a good setup for a nice campfire! We will be back

Site 4 - C Colo - just beautiful
Lovely place to bring the family and relax away from the city. You get your own little piece of land to set up and is far enough from the other sites to have some privacy. The river access is a short walk away. You can get some Telstra mobile coverage with some Internet access but not Vodafone. Steve is a great host, he made us feel welcome and safe. The drive up is easy and not that far from the city. Overall we had a great and relaxing time.

Site 1 - C Colo - just beautiful
Steve is a lovely, hospitable host who will visit you with brownies every night. The site was flat and open, our dogs loved playing. The river is a walk away if you want a swim, or there is a platform and so pool stairs to kayak/canoe. Basic set up with a composting toilet in a home made shack (no light inside, toilet paper is provided though) and some firepits.

Site 3 - C Colo - just beautiful
Nice scenery with a beautiful river right there. Highly recommend canoeing in the river during your stay. Nice lookout above thats great for when you're leaving your stay, as you have to drive a bit for it. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and the host steve was very nice and welcoming. He brought us dessert each night. However it is very close to putty road so the traffic is a bit loud and the street light is quite bright. Would recommend this stay for convenience and if you are keen on outdoor recreation activities. But if you are seeking to be more isolated then this location may not be for you. Overall we had a great stay, thanks steve! :)

Site 3 - C Colo - just beautiful
We loved camping at C.Colo,on Easter long weekend, site 3 and 4 both had plenty of space. Steve is a legend! Especially when he comes down with Brownies each evening!! Very knowledgeable on the local area, and we enjoyed watching him come down on different modes of transport! Great communication on directions etc to the site. Toilet is basic, but is clean and serves it purpose. There are public toilets a short walk. Entrance to River is just behind sites, although we chose to walk a short distance to the public entrance, which has wide steps into the river. Thank you again for your Hospitality Steve and Danielle

Steve was very helpful and entertaining. He offered and chopped the crate of wood we ordered for our stay and we gained valuable history knowledge of the town. My only suggestion would be to turn the spotlight off on the property after a certain time as it was very bright, shining in my tent.

The site is brilliant, well maintained and clean. The host is genuinely wonderful - everyone should meet Steve at least once in their life. Access to the river is super easy, and the availability of kayaks to hire is great. I stayed here with my 8yo daughter for a night, and she had a great time. But.. The road noise is something else. Apparently every loud motobike in Sydney wants to ride the Putty road on Saturday nights until late. I'm guessing that it would not be an issue mid week, and most of my camping is in remote state forest or national park so I'm unaccustomed to it. Just something to be aware of...

The area we camped at had a few camp sites but we were the only ones there so it was very peaceful. The campsite we had was secluded from all the others with a wall of greenery and purple flowers and the river to one side. Another boon was the campfire. There was an old milk tank cut in half which elevated the fire and was perfect for cooking over and also radiated some good heat. They also have some wood there for purchase so you never need to worry about running out. The owner is also very friendly and pops in each night to make sure you're all good and to share some cool history of the area. They also have some bangin' brownies. Only one downside for us was the trucks crossing the bridge nearby early in the morning but honestly, it won't stop us from being back, absolutely loved it.

Site 3 - C Colo - just beautiful
Overall we enjoyed camping here. The river is nice and the nature is beautiful around. You do have to cross the river swimming to get to the beach area (there is no way to get there by foot) so be aware of that if you have pets or kids. The road really was much closer to our camp than we thought it would be… I am a deep sleeper yet kept getting woken up by trucks, bikes and cars going over the bridge… it was LOUD and it goes on through the night, I had to wear earplugs. There is also a big street lamp that illuminated our camping area way more than we would’ve liked, I didn’t care much about this but it bothered some of my friends. The host cutting firewood with a chainsaw just meters away from us as we were trying to have breakfast was…off putting to say the least. He was otherwise quite hospitable but we also felt like we didn’t have a huge amount of privacy as he dropped by multiple times throughout the day - I guess some people would appreciate this but it felt a bit much to us.

Fig Tree Hill
We had an incredible stay at Fig Tree Hill for my 30th birthday with a group of 20 friends, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The campsite is beautifully secluded—tucked away from the other sites by a road and a hill—so we didn’t have to stress about making too much noise. It felt like we had our own private little retreat in nature. Steve, the host, was absolutely lovely. He made us feel so welcome and even brought us warm brownies fresh from the oven, which was such a thoughtful and unexpected treat! We were also able to grab some firewood from him, which kept our big communal fire pit going all night. The river is just across the road and was ideal for a swim or floating around on inflatables—it was a huge hit with everyone. There’s also a small gazebo at the site that provides some shelter, though we brought our own setup as well. All in all, Fig Tree Hill was fantastic—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect spot for a celebration. Would 100% recommend and we’re already talking about coming back!

The camp ground was beautiful, river access from site with easy access for a swim or fishing. My dog loved her time there and loved swimming in the river.

The host Steve was lovely and engaging. He visited our site several times to check in and provide information of the location and deliver fresh cooked brownies. There’s a lovely walk out to a lookout, which is worth the effort. Bring your swimmers, the river was lovely and refreshing on a hot day.

The whole experience was class, went there with a few of the lads and Steve was extremely accommodating and helpful, had plenty of stories did some great demos for the canoeing and made some unreal tasting brownies which went down a treat round the campfire with a few beers 👌🏼 will definitely be coming back, cheers guys! Definitely recommend 🏕️

Site 1 - C Colo - just beautiful
Felt very ripped off and deceived by this place. Ended up packing up and moving somewhere else. It is not as lovely as the pictures and is very much just a paddock. Would not recommend to anyone unless they want to feel like an animal. Very disappointing and very dissatisfied with what we arrived at. STOP BEING DISHONEST AND ADVERTISE EXACTLY WHAT FILTH THIS PLACE IS.

Had a lovely time in this spot! A short, scenic walk to the river led us to a peaceful and secluded area—perfect for our dog. We absolutely loved the brownies and the friendly chats. The recommendations and helpful tips on what to do made our visit even better. Can't wait to come back!

The best little get away

We stayed for 3 nights and it was just perfect ! We got the camping spot closest to the water. Before we arrived we got clear instructions from Steve so we knew where to go when we arrived, The first night Steve came by and gave us a little welcome gift and brownies for desert (literally the best WARM brownies ), he also brought these every night for us and on my birthday brought me a gift ☺️ Each day we went in the river and also went on the fire trail walk which Steve recommended as we can take our little pup. He also made it so easy and convenient to get wood which he would have all there in case we wanted to buy some Thanks again Steve, we had the best stay ☺️

We had a lovely stay and Steve & Danielle are great communicators, responding quickly to messages etc. Once there, Steve came and met us had a chat about local history and things to do and see. Had a great time walking around and kayaking down on the river. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely and peaceful spot! The host was super friendly and gave us brownies each night. Fire pit, table and chairs already at the site. Heaps of lovely rivers to swim in and hikes close by. Would definitely stay again!

Site 3 - C Colo - just beautiful
Our first Hipcamp experience and it was great. Steve is an absolute champion host who made us very welcome, and the sites are nice and private. We only stayed the one night but had a great time. My son and I and our old dog loved swimming and playing in the river which is not always accessible from the property due to the tides but only a few minutes walk away the public access point under the bridge. Lovely to wake up in nature to the birds. Also surprisingly very few flys and mosquitoes. Thanks guys!

Site 4 - C Colo - just beautiful
We had a great time camping at C Colo. The campsite was perched on top of a nice hill with a fire pit and a nice big table to set up on. The access to the river was just around the corner (walking distance) so we could launch our SUP and visit the sand bank on the other side. Despite the storm the site dried up nicely the next morning and we had time to dry our gear before packing away. Steve was always on hand to provide help and fresh baked brownies. Thanks Danielle and Steve.
