Blue Hole Riverside Camp (via Castle Doyle Rd) is located 10 minutes out of Armidale and provides sunny, cleared acres to camp by the riverside with peaceful surrounds and total relaxation. Easy access to the river to swim, fish, kayak or canoe. A short two minute drive (approx 3kms) to the beautiful Blue Hole Picnic Area and Gara Gorge offers swimming, picnic seating, BBQ and bush walking in a scenic bush setting with clean toilets. Armidale is home to many gorges and national parks like no other region. Dangars falls is a stunning waterfall with a picnic area. This rural property suits self sufficient campers only with own drinking water and shower/toilet amenities. All campers must take their rubbish with them leaving no trace - no bins provided. Please note that wifi is limited in this camping area by the river. You will find certain spots around the area that will work more efficiently. We do not offer wifi. This well appointed, fully renovated hut is a studio with a queen bed, lounge area, tv, kitchen, bathroom/laundry, front deck with a bbq and views to die for!! This provides all the luxuries with a rustic charm embracing a peaceful getaway with a magnificent outlook.

"Reynella" The Hut

Reynella is a restored and well appointed hut with breathtaking views. This charming light filled hut was originally a feed shed and has been completely renovated as a high performance dwelling providing for a warm and comfortable stay in winter and cooler in the summer months. It is a studio with a queen bed, lounge room, TV, kitchen and bathroom/laundry (wifi). There is a bbq area provided on the front deck. The construction of the hut has adopted passive house standards with an air filtration system and is an airtight building. We have created a space to relax, wind down and enjoy the country views with a sense of peace and privacy. Whether you have had a day of discovery around the New England region of waterfalls and gorges or are on your way through the area this hut is sure to impress. It is easy access to take a walk down to the river on the property (and if you are lucky spot the platypus) or explore Blue Hole Swimming area and Gara Gorge being a short 2 minute drive from the hut.

Kelly’s camping spot is beautiful, lovely and Private and the breeze next to the river is so cool. The dogs had an absolute ball swimming and playing. Lots of space! We’d love to come back ☺️

"Reynella" The Hut
Beautiful location campsites were peaceful. The cabin was clean warm comfortable best bed I’ve ever slept in.

Excellent spot by the river and couldn’t have picked a better place for peace and quiet. Best to have a 4x4 just in case if towing a van as dirt track to river may be too step for a car. Can’t wait to go back.

What a beautiful spot, right on the river! The hosts were super friendly and came down to check in and make sure everything was good. It’s a beautiful part of the world and you’d be silly to look past staying here! Directions to the property were easy to follow, the road in/out of the property is suitable for car and caravan with no issues!

Site 8 - Blue Hole Riverside R&R
We loved the spot down by the river as it was so quiet as we only had our off road van and our friends van to the entire area. The river was running nice but our weather was overcast but that didn’t stop us having a great time. We can definitely recommend this Hip Camp but you really need a 4 x 4 to get out especially if it rained to get up the hill. The track was good for us to get out. We can’t wait to come back down from QLD.

Rambling Stream & a Campfire

The sites were flat all by the rambling river, we were the first ones in so had them on the sites as they weren’t busy. Close to Armidale and the National park sites great base for this area. The wood was fantastic from jack well worth getting

Stunning spot! Well maintained sites, close to town and easy access to sites. Beautiful national park right down the road. Hosts were lovely and welcoming. Sites are well spaced and dogs had a ball swimming in the river.

Camped here for 2 nights with my wife and 3 kids. It is such a beautiful spot and a great setup. Despite some wild weather on our first night we still had a great time, and much of that is due to how lovely this place is. The owners son provides firewood for a very reasonable price which we utilised as well. Would highly recommend this place!

Excellent campsite! Beautiful aspect and easy staging point to visit nearby Armidale and Gara Gorge. Shame we had some bad weather but Jack delivered some nice dry firewood to keep us warm during the breaks in the rain. Highly recommended.

Beautiful mowed, grassy camping area close to the flowing creek. A great spot for bird watching and checking out Gara Gorge nearby. We loved it!

Absolutely beautiful place to camp, we camped next to the river that is great for swimming and fishing. The campground is very well kept and the sites are very large and well spaced out. Kelly and Shane are awesome hosts and their son Jack delivered a nice load of firewood to us. Gara Gorge is just down the road and it has great picnic areas, walks and a nice river. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay here! Loved that there was plenty of space by the river, and that we could bring our dog and enjoy a campfire under the stars. Beautiful property. Kelly was very friendly and responsive. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great stay at this campsite! It's a beautiful spot right by a peaceful river, with a lush grassy area that was perfect for pitching our tents and relaxing. The fire pit made for cozy evenings, and the whole area had a calm, natural vibe that made it easy to unwind. It’s also super convenient—only a 10-minute drive from town, which made grabbing supplies or a quick meal really easy. The hosts were friendly and helpful, which made the experience even smoother. Definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a peaceful camping getaway close to town

Beautifully kept site alongside the river. We were the only people there so our dog had a wonderful time exploring off leash. The river access was a little tricky down a steep grassy bank but was deep (I couldn’t touch bottom) and very refreshing for a swim on a hot day. There was easier access to shallower section further along Our hosts were very friendly & helpful , all in all a lovely place to stay. Highly recommended

Hosts Shane and Kelly were amazingly welcoming. The campsite was beautiful and private with absolute river frontage. It is the perfect location to base yourselves to explore this amazing area. We will definitely be back.

Sean has a fantastic property with a unique river / dam and ideal camping areas with privacy, clean mown grass and a platypus. This was a special stay, and swimming in the river was bliss with easy access, smooth rocks and deep waters. Sean is a special guy, with visions and a very interesting skill in constructing properties that can cool and heat naturally. It is a shame he is not PM! I noticed a Tiny Home and an Air BnB house at the other end of the property over the hill. An amazing discovery in many ways!

Booked last minute for an overnight stay in a tent. Kelly was a very responsive and lovely host! The site is a big field by the water and absolutely beautiful. The water was a bit low at this time of year but still a nice retreat from the heat.

This is a must do Hipcamp if you are looking in this area, Kelly & Shane’s property is so relax g along the river, they have a canoe for you to use . Plenty of space to chill out or use it as a base to get out & take in the sights around the area. Kelly & Shane are the most welcoming & accommodating hosts.

We had a great last minute stay in our van overlooking the river. Peaceful, beautiful outlook, great areas to walk and relax by a fire at night. Kelly, Shane and Jack were awesome hosts, friendly with great communication. Looking forward to staying again, when passing through the area 😊

We absolutely loved our stay at Blue Hole Riverside Camp. The view was breathtaking and peaceful. The hosts were a lovely family who were very accommodating. For a small charge they drove us to and from the Cold Chisel 50th anniversary concert, supplied firewood and made everything so easy for us! Highly recommended!
