Glamping in Western Australia

·

Western Australia is brimming with natural wonders, whether you're snorkelling the Ningaloo Reef along the Coral Coast, exploring the wild landscapes of the Golden Outback or the Kimberley Region, or riding a camel along the white-sand beaches of Broome. Thankfully, outdoor adventures don't have to mean driving your caravan along dusty desert tracks or pitching a tent in the bushland (although you can do that, too). Australia's largest state also boasts some magical glamping experiences. Stay in a deluxe glamping tent or safari-style bungalow close to the wineries of the Margaret River region, watch the sunset over the ocean from your private deck on Rottnest Island, or cosy up in a bell tent with a queen-sized bed, en-suite bathroom, and kitchenette close to Perth. You could even book a geodesic dome by Yelverton National Park or check in to an eco-tent at Karijini National Park or Cape Range National Park.

Meelon, WA · 6 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
Just 1 hour from Perth, Harmony Retreat is a conscious camping space and wellness event venue, situated on 25 acres at the foothills of the Darling Range Escarpment just 10-15 minutes from Pinjarra and Dwellingup. It's an easily accessible and picturesque private property with approximately 7 acres of forest, flushing toilet, hot outdoor shower, a winter creek, a swimmable spring-fed dam, and an abundance of bird and wildlife, nestled between cattle farms in the heart of the Peel region. There are friendly free-ranging chickens and Guinea fowl, a mischievous mini pig, friendly goats, sheep, and family dogs on site. The owners Michelle, Troy, and Carolyne live and work onsite. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO BOOK IF YOU INTEND TO PARTY. The camping area is easily accessed by most vehicles. There is a hot water outdoor shower and toilet available to use and within walking distance of each site. CHILDREN - The dam on the property is unfenced and has steep sides when the water line is low, therefore this property is not recommended for those with small and wandering children. We also asked that older children are supervised, so as not to vandalise property, nature, gardens and fire-pits (this has been a problem in the past). Friendly dogs are welcome, however, must be kept on a leash at all times, due to free-ranging chickens, livestock and wildlife on the property. Our communal BBQ area is now open with a gas BBQ, picnic table and sink. We suggest bringing your own cooker, kettle, esky, etc, Bringing your own drinking water is a must, as the water from the taps comes from our spring-fed dam. We do ask that you follow local fire regulations with no outdoor open cooking flames during fire bans. All rubbish and waste needs to be taken with you. However, Peppa pig and our goats will always appreciate your veggie scraps. Fires are permitted in designated fire pits during fire season (BYO wood). Anyone found having a fire during FIRE BANS will be reported to authorities and asked to leave the property immediately (we need to use firm words around this, as bushfire destroys homes and endangers lives). Please note: We do request Drivers Licence number & vehicle registration number at time of booking. Check out our w e b s I t e at: harmony retreat meelon . org

In the spring, there will be beautiful wildflowers to see, in the winter you will be able to walk through our creeks. TO BRING Please be self-contained with water and rubbish, however we do have Sheoak and Jam tree logs that you can collect for firewood and a compost toilet. Also please bring insect repellent, the spring can coincide with lots of mosquitos and flies. If you would like to bring your own firewood, you can buy some at the Bindoon roadhouse on the way. If you need access to drinking water and waste removal, there are facilities available at nearby caravan parks, such as Goomalling or Wongan Hills. We also provide non-potable water near the compost toilet for you to use for showers. ARRIVAL We are located in between Goomalling and Calingiri. Qualin farm sign in angled towards the Goomalling side, so could be difficult to see if driving from Calingiri. Drive slowly on approach of the driveway entry, as it on a corner. At the end of the driveway we have an information board to assist you in finding your spot as well as signs. If you need any help and would like to be welcomed to your spot, please let us know. We are a family homestead on 5 acres planted out to permaculture principles back in the late 70's with some 40 different varieties of fruit and nut trees to graze on. Our Toobs are repurposed 2.1m diameter by 2.4m deep concrete pipes with one way glass, a queen size bed, 2 small bedside tables, light, power points, electric blanket(winter), pedestal fan (summer)all linen, towel and curtains for privacy. Internal volume is just over 9m3. They've been called glamping pods, concrete tents, micro habitats, sleep stations. . . .but at heart, they're an immersive experience. How they look, where they are, the way you sleep and where you wake up is an altogether novel experience that we feel most people will enjoy. Toobs are serviced by a shared safari-style wash house with hot water shower and composting loo. Our block is on the Rails to Trails beside the Margaret River. Main Street and cafe strip are a short 10 minute forest walk away. We are popular with mountain bikers due to our close proximity (ride to trails) MR's MTB trails. Surfer's Point and Prevelly are 9kms away. We have laying hens, horses, a large and active Ring Tail possum tribe and vegetable garden. CAVEATS: -Just to be clear, we encourage our guests to eat out and we do NOT have kitchen and/or cooking facilities. - Our Toobs are tiny spaces and they are not everyone's cup of tea. Please read the reviews for a fair assessment of what we offer. - Also, we are NOT party people and value your privacy and respect for our rural lifestyle and those of other guests.

These tents offer stunning views overlooking our dam. While swimming in the dam is not allowed, it’s a beautiful spot for a picnic in one of our cabanas. During the day, explore local wineries—including one right next door—indulge in honey and chocolate from nearby producers, or take advantage of the many forest and national park trails. You can also enjoy fishing and swimming in the Donnelly River before unwinding under the starry night sky back at camp. We look forward to welcoming you to Stargazers!
