Established in late 2021 by a Perth couple seeking a lifestyle change, our farmstay echoes the charm of its predecessor, the beloved 'Big Bird and Wolf Chalets,' which delighted guests since 2001.
Remaining true to its dog-friendly roots, Home and Hound offers three enchanting chalet options, preserving the welcoming spirit that made it a favorite.
Our 30-acre property, just 8km from Kendenup township and 15km from Mt Barker, boasts dog exercise areas, an ornamental lake, and breathtaking views of the Stirling Ranges from the hilltop.
As stewards of sustainability, we take pride in our eco-friendly practices. Rainwater sustains the entire property, and our commitment to reducing waste includes recycling single-use plastics as seedling trays in our large greenhouse.
Embracing renewable energy, we utilize solar power while the sun is out, while wood fires, sourced from our own trees, provide warmth in winter.
Our flourishing fruit trees and indoor vegetable garden yield seasonal delights, and our resident chickens not only enjoy food scraps but also gift us with farm-fresh eggs.

4 nights at Booyiup Eco Retreat Torbay
My partner and I loved this off-grid getaway. It was super comfortable and such a memorable experience. It had everything we needed, including a BBQ, sink, and compost toilets. Falling asleep to the frogs at night was lovely, and it was great seeing the critters sunbathing during the day. The location was perfect too, right between Albany and Denmark. We’ll definitely be back!

Bluff Knoll house far exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful house with Two bedrooms, a family room with an large sized smart tv, reverse cycle air conditioned. Kept the accomodation nice and snug and warm as it was a bit cold when we visited.
Well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee sugar and Milo provided. There is a Phillips coffee pod machine with pods provided.
Fridge had freshly laid eggs which tasted wonderful.
Washing machine in the laundry, BBQ outside in the patio. Fully fenced so our Daschi could roam free.
The goats were extremely friendly and looked forward to being fed.
Truly a home away from home.
You can spend days there without carrying anything but food supplies.

The chalet was nicely set up to maximise the experience. Host provided 6 to 7 fresh eggs, dog toys and stock food so the kids can feed the small farm animals. Could not fault the place.

2 nights at Home and Hound Kendenup
We walked into our country chalet and immediately felt relaxed. The host has done an excellent job of decorating the chalet, paying attention to detail. The main bed was very comfy and extra pillows, blankets and throw rugs available for extra warmth. Bed comes with electric blanket but not needed this time of year. Would be a lovely winters stay with the indoor fireplace. The farm animals were very friendly and eager to meet guests. Host provided food to feed the farm animals. Host is always around working the farm so available to guests if they need anything. Stirling house had fully enclosed fence that even our little Lahsa Apso dog couldn’t escape. Dog bowls, beds and toys provided. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for having us

Amenities were clean and tidy. The info boards were very good. The walk to the Granite Skywalk was unfortunately too much of a challenge for me. I will have to try again

Love the Porongurups, highly recommend Castle Rock and Nancy Peak walks. Carparks and facilities are really well maintained. Plan ahead for lunches and meals, not much open or available.
