There is a hot water outdoor shower and toilet available to use and within walking distance of each site. CHILDREN - The dam on the property is currently unfenced and has steep sides when the water line is low, therefore this property is not recommended for those with small and wandering children. We also asked that older children are supervised, so as not to vandalise property, nature, gardens and fire-pits (this has been a problem in the past). Friendly dogs are welcome, however, must be kept on a leash at all times, due to free-ranging chickens, livestock and wildlife on the property. There are no cooking facilities available. Therefore, you will need to be completely self-sufficient including cooker, kettle, esky, etc, and also bringing your own drinking water as the water from the taps comes from our spring-fed dam. We do ask that you follow local fire regulations with no outdoor open flames during fire bans. All rubbish and waste needs to be taken with you. Redgum Hill Nestled in amongst the red gums on an elevated position near the edge of the property, you will be camping next to the old hay shed. The birdlife here is amazing, with red tailed cockatoos and honeyeaters amongst others frequently visiting. Please take care whilst exploring around this area, there are some deep rabbit warrens around the hay shed, which can be hidden in the grass in winter. Valley Vista Valley Vista is a private and secluded haven, on an elevated spot backed onto state forest looking down over the valley, with arguably the best views of the farm. Creek Junction Creek Junction is a peaceful area by the creek line nestled in amongst the trees, where the gully running down the hill meets the creek. One of our three dams is hidden in amongst the tea tree bushes nearby. You can see the house from this campsite, but it is far enough away that privacy is not an issue. Please be aware, all of our dams are seasonal and will be very low in the summer months. We also recommend that you do not swim in them. Hidden Corner Hidden Corner is situated at the back corner of the property. It is the most isolated of the three campsites with views of the open paddock and across the valley in front of you and state forest behind. Shed Pad (No longer has bathroom facilities) Shed Pad is our only powered site (15 amp) situated next to the main shed. It has a patio area with a table and 4 chairs (an extra 2 can be provided if required). WIFI is also available for an additional fee. It is an intimate site, perfect for one large caravan or two small caravans and a couple of swags/tents. It overlooks neighbouring paddocks and state forest. it is at the entrance to the property next to the main shed and in close proximity to the house.

Currently we are offering 6 spots on 40 acres of land which means you will have lots of space and privacy. This is not your regular packed in campsite or caravan park. Only 20 minutes from Donnybrook, 20 minutes from Collie and 2.5 hours from Perth. It’s a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke. A peaceful place of nature and nights under the stars. Next door to the Preston national park, 8 minutes from the famous Glen Mervyn dam. Surrounded by many great wineries and breweries in the Ferguson Valley. Currently we are offering camp sites on the grass along our winter creek and shearing shed. The winter creek side of the property has a dam. And the shearing shed side has a natural spring fall during the winter months. Our property is home to many species of native wildlife. We also have many farm animals that we love to share with people. We are a working farm so we don’t offer farm tours often, but ask ahead and we may be able to open for you. You might even get lucky with timing and baby animals ❤️ We also have an organically run vineyard. Previously known as Mandalay estate. We have exclusive sales of wine for campers and we also offer grape picking with many different delicious varieties. On occasion we will be working in the vineyard, and there may be extra activity that we will let you know about during your stay. We will contact you with entrance details with confirmed booking. Turning off from the gravel road, travel through the trees to paddocks ready for camping. In the morning the magpies and cockatoos herald a new day, in the evening the frog calls are loud and kangaroos often graze or go to the dam for a drink. The space is open for a few weeks each year, with focus on awareness groups for forest protection.

Kimberly and Michael are great hosts. Everything was communicated well and firewood and eggs were delivered as expected. Rubbish bins and camp fire spot provided. Beautiful spot. Peaceful, no internet, no humans. Completely isolated and offgrid. Plenty on water in the river for a swim. Easy access for a small/medium van up to approx 19 foot. Conveyor belt in the distance was no issue. A peaceful get away. Doing it again.

Absolutely awesome little spot up on the ridge overlooking some of the best scenery I've seen for a bush camp. The sunset was pretty speccy and it was nice we were able to pull up a chair around the fire and soak it all in. Our dog had a blast too so definitely recommend bringing them along. Here’s a refined, polished version of your updated review, keeping your voice and enthusiasm: ⸻ A beautiful spot! The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The property is close to the dam. The weather was a bit too chilly for swimming, but that didn’t stop our furry friend from jumping in and having an absolute ball! There’s also a paddleboard and a rope swing available for use. Our furry friend loved having plenty of open space to explore. The National Forest is nearby, so it’s best to keep dogs on a lead in that area due to baiting — but there are no baits on Shukuru Farm itself. Being a farm, there were a few flies, but nothing a fly net couldn’t fix. The wind was strong during our stay, so most of them were blown away anyway. The fire pits were a lovely bonus, and the starry skies at night were absolutely stunning. Such a relaxing, peaceful stay — I would definitely recommend staying here!

Helps getting out when the bank is wet, dont forget to chuck it in the water before you jump in. We suggest you have a look where the logs and branches are under water before you get in and the water gets muddied.

Loved this site. Completely isolated from other campers. Private, peaceful and picturesque. Nice little walk along the water in the bushland. The ground is VERY hard, was only able to get the tent set up a little in front of the bins, no biggie. Would be worthwhile bringing some heavy duty pegs, had a few casualties. The conveyer wasn’t constantly running but when it was it was subtle and actually nice to drift off to sleep to. Flies were friendly and there are bull/meat ants roaming around, bring some Bushman’s. Pay for the firewood add on or bring your own. There is some to collect around camp but it’s mostly small branches and bark. Our host come by to welcome us a little after check in, very friendly 😊 Will definitely be back, hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Dougy's Den is a magical little spot to camp. Beautiful surroundings with tall trees, ferns and babbling brook. Flushing toilet and cold shower, table and chairs under a gazebo. Dougy's Den is a well thought out site and Graeme is a top bloke. Will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Amber Ridge Estate

My wife and I loved our weekend at the Amber Ridge Estate, staying at the Valley Vista ground. Was very secluded, private, quiet, and relaxing. Nestled a the top of the grounds, at the back, we didn't see anyone all weekend once we went through the gate. Could birdwatch, listen to the kangaroos in the state forest, and play with our dog in the field. Weather was wet, windy, sunny - all 4 seasons in one day, but that is Donnybrook and the south-west. Mick greeted us as we entered and gave us a folder of things to do in the area, which was very much appreciated. Great little spot to get away for some off grid.
