A former historic whaling station, the township of Albany, is perfectly located on the ocean, and near several of Western Australia's best national parks. Nature-based highlights are easy drives from town: King George Sound, the cliffs of Torndirrup National Park and white sandy beaches (Middleton Beach is a winner). To get here, you wind along the South Coast Highway (Hwy 1), past waterways and sheltered inlets, some of which is backed by thick forests, including the Valley of the Giants. Denmark is a useful gateway to the Valley of the Giants, a spectacular tree top walk within the canopy of ancient tingle trees. Great beaches include Ocean Beach, or plunge in the turquoise rock pools at William Bay National Park. Closer to town there’s great walks: stroll along the heritage trail or the Wilson Inlet Trail. Most of Denmark’s camping choices are a short drive from the town centre, while others are located along the coast. Most have sites for camper trailers, caravans and tents.Photographers flock to this beautiful park, especially in wildflower season (September to December). Comprising over 1100sq km, the park is a series of rugged peaks and gullies. Striking cliff faces and over 1500 of flora species are star attractions, as are spectacular cloud formations. We only accept one booking at a time, so you're guaranteed privacy and plenty of space, as you have the entire property to yourselves. 20% discount for weeknights, that is Sunday night through to Thursday night. Come alone or bring your group to camp on our 95 acres of peace and quiet, on our off-grid property in Forest Hill. Note: There is no actual beach at Eddies Beach. Campers must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, and leave no trace. Groups of up to 6 families (people who know each other) can be accommodated at any one time. As you are the only ones camping, you're welcome to make a bit of noise (music, generators etc). The rate is $38 for up to two adults, per night, $19 per extra adult per night, and any accompanying children (under 18) are free. Note: Please still add children to the booking, you will not be charged, but it's important we know numbers. Whilst the Hipcamp website considers children as anyone under 13 years of age, we consider them as anyone under 18, and are happy for you to create the booking accordingly. Campfires are permitted in the designated area only, provided conditions are suitable and there are no local fire bans (can change daily). We will advise campers on arrival and any changes throughout your stay. Firewood can be provided. Whilst any time is good for camping, we recommend trying to time your trip with the New Moon and Full Moon - the skies here are brilliant at night! Telstra and Optus work in most areas. We have free WIFI at the designated campsite area. We had such a wonderful stay at Eddies Beach. Roger and Val were incredibly welcoming and friendly hosts, which made us feel right at home. We loved Eddies Beach, the peace and tranquility was exactly what we needed. Having the place to ourselves was incredible. We arrived to find the fire pit already lit and welcoming us. Roger and Val are wonderful hosts allowing you to dictate the level of interaction you want. We enjoyed a coffee and a chat with them. Our dogs enjoyed running through the paddocks and having a good sniffari. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys simply getting away off grid end relaxing.

Great well kept campsite. Roger and Val met us and showed us to the campsite which is very private and best part was the fire was going when we arrived as it was pretty wet and cold. Great service ! Our 2 dogs loved being able to roam around and get muddy. Will definitely come again

Bluff Knoll house far exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful house with Two bedrooms, a family room with an large sized smart tv, reverse cycle air conditioned. Kept the accomodation nice and snug and warm as it was a bit cold when we visited. Well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee sugar and Milo provided. There is a Phillips coffee pod machine with pods provided. Fridge had freshly laid eggs which tasted wonderful. Washing machine in the laundry, BBQ outside in the patio. Fully fenced so our Daschi could roam free. The goats were extremely friendly and looked forward to being fed. Truly a home away from home. You can spend days there without carrying anything but food supplies. Thank you Kylee and Kieran (not sure if I have your name right)

The property itself is simply stunning, with breathtaking views and friendly Suffolk?? sheep wandering the paddock. It’s a peaceful, picturesque escape just 20 minutes from the Mt Barker Bakery. Roger was an AMAZING host, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed—WiFi, fire safety equipment, local info, and even books to enjoy. He had arranged a permit so we could have a controlled campfire during restrictions and gave us a courtesy call to warn about incoming weather (Thanks Mate!!). Caters for large groups. A truly unforgettable stay, we can’t recommend it highly enough.

We wanted a quiet time away and that's exactly what is on offer at Eddies Beach. Hosts Roger and Val are a gorgeous couple and so well organised. We loved the safety and site induction that Roger lead us through upon arrival ... the site is very neat and well kept, fire pit is amazing and we cooked steaks on its hotplate one night - wood was supplied. Wifi works really well via Starlink and we streamed Netflix seamlessly. Mt Barker is only about 15kms away ... and do visit the Country Bakery in town for an amazing experience. We would be more than happy to stay there again!

Just wrapped up an amazing stay at Eddies Beach Farm and I can't recommend it enough! Roger and Val are hands down the best hosts I've ever encountered in my camping adventures. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect (I really mean it). The property is stunning and the best part? You get it all to yourself as they only take one booking at a time. Location-wise, it's brilliant - just a short drive to Albany and Denmark, while the Stirling Range National Park is not far either. Perfect base for exploring the region's attractions or just unwinding in nature. This place is an absolute steal. Do yourself a favour and book this spot - you won't regret it! A fabulous week at Roger and Val’s place. Roger and Val are warm, welcoming, generous hosts. We were drawn to the site as they allow multiple families to camp together in privacy. We were also keen to check out Roger and Val’s fully off-grid property. They generously showed us around, welcomed us into their home and kept us entertained with stories of their life. Plus fabulous coffee! The site itself is large, level, pristine thanks to their leave no trace policy, and has stunning views. We were given the freedom to explore the vast property, where we enjoyed walks around the perimeter and the kids had a ball riding their bikes. We were lucky enough to stay at new moon, where we had incredible views of the Milky Way on several clear nights. We are keen to come back in the cooler months to take advantage of the large fire pit. We have stayed at many Hipcamps, but this one will be very hard to beat. Thank you so much Roger and Val. We hope to come again.

What a great stay at Roger & Val’s property! On arrival we were greeted & shown lots of local information, first aid kits for pets & people & Wifi details. Very easy access from the road to the camping area with some gorgeous trees, providing much appreciated shade from the heat in the morning & late afternoon. Only about 10-15 minutes drive to Mount Barker, West Cape Howe Winery & Galafrey Winery….Galafrey’s wines are incredible & an absolute must for anyone who loves highly rated wines at a national level! Roger & Val were super friendly and welcoming throughout the whole of our stay inviting us to catch up with them most days. Thanks so much Roger & Val for a great stay!

A very peaceful and pleasant site. Very dry, but that is what it is this time of the year on a farm. Some large trees to take shade from. A kangaroo family came to visit and the birds were nice to hear.

What an awesome experience. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and special. Roger and Val go out of their way to make the stay special with many fine points including inviting us to new year eve celebrations. The environment is magical with the most stunning sunsets and the star gazing second to none. Our boys felt at home playing cricket in the open area. Our furry friends were at home in the safe open enclosure with cameras we could look at and check in with them while at the national park. We would recommend staying here 100% and we would have loved to stay longer.

When to go

This is a year-round destination, though January and February see hotter summer temperatures. Spring and summer are perfect for the beach stops though West Australian school holidays bring statesiders to the coasts and parks (dates change annually). Whale watching season is from around September to December. You can visit the national parks at any time of year, though be aware that conditions in Stirling Range National Park are particularly subject to unpredictable changes in the weather at any time.

Know before you go

  • Denmark or Albany are the best places to buy supplies. Denmark has wineries, too.
  • Many campsites are free; these have no facilities.
  • This area is remote; mobile phone service can be patchy outside the main towns.
  • Public transport is limited, but not impossible.
  • With the exception of the serviced holiday parks and in-town campgrounds, you’ll need to take your own water.
  • Stirling Range National Park experiences unpredictable changes in the weather, including hail and rain (hikers must take precautions).
