The local beach is iconic for surfing and swimming, the local creek is a favourite at the inlet for young kids to swim or for canoeists to have somewhere quiet to paddle. Mountain biking is a must in the area, with thousands of tracks available right outside the back door. If you have your own horse you can bring it along on holiday with you, we have paddocks available and there are so many gorgeous tracks around to ride on and beach riding at low tide and the right times is a bucket list item! The location itself is 17 acres and is next to the Painkallac creek in a peaceful bush setting. This location used to be a horse riding school which is now not running but has been converted to offer camping, caravan and RV parking. It’s only 1.5 km from the beach and the Otway national park is right on your doorstep. If you have bikes, horses or love to hike or run, or just laze on the beach, it’s a perfect location, be ready to be spoilt as there are so many tracks on offer in our stunning local beach and bush land. The local town of aireys inlet has plenty to offer, a general store for all your essentials, loads of places to eat out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and only 1 3/4hrs from Melbourne. No need to stress if you don’t want to be near anyone else, this is a small setting so it’s very private and its only got one space to rent so that you have peace and quiet. If you do have friends and want to book a double space please just message me and I can open up another space for you. Pollys paddock is named after a beautiful palomino horse named Polly, who lived here as a loved member of our family into her early 40s. Polly's Paddock is a quiet camping area on the Mornington Peninsula. We are a couples only camping (adults only), no children, for safety reasons with a dam close by. The 6 metre round tent sleeps 2, with a queen size bed, linen provided. It is carpeted, has a fridge, kettle and BBQ. Just pack your toothbrush, clothes, food and drinks. All 3 sites have the use of a shared composting toilet. For a refreshing experience there is an outdoor, open air hot shower overlooking the dam. Close by is a spacious shelter/shed with tables, chairs and a rustic kitchen area with sink and heater. Well behaved dogs are accepted on the caravan sites, but we ask that you please discuss with us prior to booking. Dogs are to be kept on a lead at all times, wild ducks and the properties own poultry wander here. No dogs on the glamping tent site. You can swim or kayak in the unfenced dam, which is fed by a mountain spring on our 200-acre property. But please be aware that the unfenced dam is a drowning hazard for children, so we don't accept bookings that include children under 10 for public liability reasons. We've limited the number of campsites to 2 in an area that could host 200! If you would like even more seclusion, then you are welcome to book both sites so you can talk, drink and play music as late as you like, without having to consider another group of campers. This is a totally different holiday experience to a crowded beach resort, caravan park or public camping ground. It's like a hideaway in the hills. Each site has a flushing toilet (septic system). Campfires are permitted outside the district-wide fire restrictions that apply from late November to early May. Fortunately, gas or electric barbecues and stoves are permitted all year round, unless specific days are declared as total fire ban days. Please note that wood-fired barbecues or burners, even if enclosed and fitted with a chimney, still present a spark/ember hazard so are not permitted across summer. When campfires are permitted, guests can cut and gather their own wood from deadwood lying near the campsites or bring their own. There are huge Trees approximately 200ft tall that tower over you in an area of the property we refer to as "valley of the kings" and some in excess of 300 years old. My family and I are situated in a modest farmhouse on the north side of the property, with our little camping spots for you scattered around the scenic high points. King Island lighthouse is visible on clear nights, and there are koalas and wallabies in abundance. The site is all-weather access, and is just a 7-minutes drive to the Apollo Bay township. Once you catch your breath after initially taking in the sweeping, majestic ocean views, you can find a spot to pitch your tent or park your van. You drive in through a locked farm gate into the fenced camp area. There is not an abundance of flat area, so may not suit if you need large level space. We don't accept multiple bookings, so the space is all yours. You can choose from a few different spots with near-level ground (choose grass or gravel). The site is open to the amazing ocean views to the south yet the area is nestled among mature trees to give privacy and shelter. There are very few houses dotted around the area and not a single busy road within earshot. There is 240v mains power (BYO lead and plug into switchboard). And a tank with spring water (natural and untreated, we've been drinking it for years) and a pressure pump (BYO hoses as needed). There is an outdoor gas-heated shower. We also have a woodfired hot tub available for guests, BYO firewood. Our listing is intended for people looking for a private, tranquil and well-serviced camping area with several bonuses such as power, water, telstra reception, and a hot tub (BYO firewood). And no other guests to worry about. It's much more than a patch of grass! But please BYO toilet - this is mandatory - and leave no trace to allow other people to enjoy the beauty of our property. Weekend Trip to Polly's Paddock

Staying here felt like stepping into an enchanted garden. Amanda greeted us at the front gate and took the time to show us around the property she was incredibly friendly, kind, and approachable. The facilities were immaculate, with everything thoughtfully provided. We especially loved the outdoor shower and bath under the trees at sunset such a beautiful and relaxing experience. It’s obvious Amanda puts a huge amount of care and pride into the gardens; they are absolutely stunning. You can also tell the hosts have been caravanning themselves, because everything you could possibly need has been considered and made available. We ended up extending our stay just to enjoy the place a little longer. It’s also perfectly located, with so much to see and explore in the surrounding areas. A truly special spot that we’d happily return to and highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Otways Farm Hideaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our camping experience in such a quiet and beautiful area. Euan was thoughtful, and communication throughout the journey was excellent. We love animals and learning about farm life, and Euan gave us a fantastic farm tour, driving us around in the buggy. We learned about Belted Galloway cattle, goats, hay bale rolling, life in the farm, and heard Koala Kenny, and we also made friends with Maggie, the cutest dog! We truly loved our stay and would absolutely come back to see Kenny again. Highly recommended for nature and animal lovers. The campsite is on a slope, but it’s very manageable. It’s my friend’s first camping experience, it’s really beautiful. Thanks so much, Euan!

Madge and Neil went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay at Afton Park. They were friendly and ensured amenities were clean and well stocked. Sites were lovely under the trees of their property and well distanced from the other sites, so was private. My dog absolutely loved her stay there as well, lots of space for her to explore around the site. Would definitely recommend!

Madge and Neil are fantastic hosts. They were kind and generous throughout our stay. They thought of all the creature comforts whilst camping- like a toilet, sink, running water, fire pit etc. Situated on a very spacious property with plenty of room for the kids. We will definitely be back 😊

This place is really fantastic. We were welcomed and introduced to the facilities by Amanda, and we enjoyed all of it, but especially the outdoor bathtube looking at and listening to birds. We also enjoyed having our dinner in the outdoor kitchen area and the lights in the garden after sunset.

I highly recommend staying at Polly’s Paddock. The paddock has been transformed into beautiful gardens. It’s a lovely environment to sit, relax and share food / drink with friends. The hosts are lovely and make you feel very welcome. I hope to be able to go again, although it’s a long way from the UK!

Weekend Trip to Polly's Paddock

My partner and I loved the glamping at Polly’s Paddock. We stayed for 2 nights and would have happily stayed for longer. Firstly, Amanda and Geoff were so kind and accomodating. We could tell how much care had been put into maintaining their beautiful property and facilities. There was a clean, toilet with running water and a lovely outdoor shower. Also, the tent had everything we needed- kettle, fridge, cutlery, dishes, fan. Both of us are 6ft tall and could comfortably walk around in the large tent, and the bed was really comfortable. I can’t recommend staying here more, we are planning on coming back soon. Only 5 minute drive to the beach and nearby shops. Thank you so much for the lovely stay :)

Where to go

Jan Juc

Set between Torquay and Bells Beach (of Rip Curl Pro surfing championship fame), Jan Juc fronts onto a fabulous surf beach, though surf and conditions are rougher here. From Jan Juc, you can drive to Bells Beach without reconnecting with the Great Ocean Road and also hit nearby Anglesea and Lorne. Don’t miss the area’s spectacular limestone cliffs and rock formations.

Bellarine Peninsula

This is a perfect place to spend the day before you head south from Torquay, along the Great Ocean Road. Beach walks, historic lighthouses, wineries, and gourmet eateries are in many of the villages on the circuit: Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove, Point Lonsdale. and Queenscliff.

When to go

Given Torquay’s large permanent population, the township is well serviced, and you can visit at any time of year. The Bells Beach surf championship takes place around Easter and brings in big crowds, so it’s best to reserve ahead then and in the summer months. Spring and February are great times to visit, as this is when temperatures start to warm.

Know before you go

It can get windy around Torquay—bring warm weather gear, even in summer.
Torquay is the perfect base to stock up on groceries, especially before trips along the Great Ocean Road. (Prices tend to get higher the further you go along the route.)
