Very private valley nestled between two mountainous sandstone ranges. 3.5 kilometers from Colebrook, via Yarlington road. The property in total size is 37 hectares half of which is gently undulating grassland slopes. These slopes lead to the banks of the beautiful Iles Creek which runs nearly all year round. The western range across the creek includes numerous caves within comfortable walking distance. The highest cave provides magnificent views to the East coast. Camping options include non-designated sites either side of the creek under the huge black-wood trees, restricted to 4-wheel drive vehicles during winter and spring months, with a secluded site with year-round access for all vehicles. At the entrance sits the first of the designated sites, the rest are accessed via the meandering road down 300 or so meters to the camping ground entrance for the other two sites. The last 500-700 meters of Yarlington road leading to the entrance is quite steep. Some two wheel drive vehicles towing large vans have found this challenging, while others haven't. The two main camping areas now have a 'bush loo' in each site. if you wish to use these please use your own paper. Also, now for camper convenience the whole area has access to the campers' lounge and resource shelter. It contains First Aid and snake bite first aid kits. Water is available here. Large flat area with waterfront camping on a sheltered cove behind Umbrella Point off the D'Entrecasteaux Channel with views towards the big island. The property is Land for Wildlife listed with a natural eucalypt woodland providing birdwatching opportunities plus friendly wallabies, potoroos, quolls echidnas, and possums. With direct water access and the free use of our sit-on kayaks, you can explore the Apollo Bay and Snake Bay coastline. We are 15 minutes from the ferry and a gateway to both North and South Bruny attractions including, House of Whisky, Dennes Point, and Quarantine Station. Bruny Island Oysters, the Cheese / Beer Factory, Adventure Bay, and the South Bruny National Park. An idyllic natural base camp to just relax or explore Bruny Island. Some important points to note: • There is open water on the block and easy access to the cove so no toddlers please. • Toilet/disposal facilities are not provided so you will need to be self-contained. • While a fire pit is provided please bring your own wood (or we can provide some for $TBC per bag). The collection of fallen timber is not allowed. • Please do not feed food scraps to the local wildlife as this can seriously affect their health. Bags of wallaby/potoroo pellets are provided but no more than one bag per evening, please. • Drinking water is provided but comes from our house tank so please use it sparingly. • Our house overlooks the campsite but we are a quiet retired couple, who will respect your privacy, and won’t bother you unless you need help or advice. We ask that you respect our privacy in return.

Our site (we have 1 site only) is positioned on a section of our 3 acre block that is totally private from our residence. We are located an easy 20 minute drive from Hobart airport. The site is not just in a paddock but is surrounded by beautiful native trees and garden - there is a small enclosed camp shelter with power, bench, sink, hot water, wood heater and a bar fridge. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off after a swim. The beach is a 5 minute walk away. We have a deck positioned to pull up to next to the shed. Clifton Beach is a beachside community located on the south arm peninsula 25 minutes from Hobart city and is the closest surf beach to Hobart. The south arm peninsula itself has many great walks and beautiful beaches. It is a great spot to base yourself to explore Hobart and local attractions. e.g Port Arthur 90 minutes. Our Hipcamp site has full council approval.

Finding us couldn't be easier , just turn right at the welcome to Franklin sign when driving from Huonville. Our gate has two big gum stumps as posts. Early arrival/ caravan drop off possible. please contact us to arrange With big views up the Huon Valley and over the river, this campsite will be sure to provide a great stay. The property is a 5 minute walk into the Historic town of Franklin, where there are are pubs and restaurants. We have 2 flat sites and 3 slight gradient sites, all are far apart. All sites accessible by 2wd depending on weather. There are no facilities, so the site is suitable for self contained campers only, There is dump for toilet water. The site also has drinking water water available free. Due to our children and our Alpaca on site pets must be kept on a leash. Visiting children are welcome to help our kids feed Alpaca, just ask. The property has an orchard of cherry plums, apples, pears, lemons and apricots. There are great walks and sites to see in the local area. It's possible to see Aurora from your campsite, but not guaranteed.

We enjoyed staying on Dennis and Georgina's property. It was gorgeous facing the water and we got to see a friendly Wallaby and an eastern quoll come out at night. Just magical! Thank you for your hospitality. We would love to come back and stay again the next time we're back on Bruny island.

Al and Lyn were amazing hosts. We felt well accommodated while staying at their hipcamp site. The site is part of their property and incorporates a rustic studio room with fireplace. This was great for a bit of extra space to relax. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We really appreciated their wonderful hospitality. We would not hesitate to stay with them again or to recommend them highly to our family and friends.

Very beautiful and tranquil place, my granddaughter and I were very lucky to have the site to ourselves, there were various beautiful cleared sites to stay in. We enjoyed the walk to the cave, sitting by the campfire , and a wonderfull drop dunny. Plenty of wallabys to be seen on the property, and we also spotted an echidna. Firections yo the property were easy to follow

This was an amazing little hide away. So quiet and secluded. Could hear the birds when we woke up. Wallabies were out at dusk and dawn, which the kids loved. It was too windy for us to use, but there are some kayaks that can be used in the little cove which would be fantastic on a sunny day. 10/10 recommends!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights here. Cosy & protected. Great fire - wood supplied. Which was perfect as it was rainy & cold outside. Allan was easy to communicate with & super helpful when there was a alight hiccup with the Hipcamp portal. Must have your own toilet - there are public amenities not far (8-10min walk) at the surf club if you prefer. Loved the private outdoor hot shower. Sink, fridge &power. Was a great treat to extend out of our little caravan into our timber retreat Bird life & little bandicoots - there was even an elephant seal at Clifton Beach visiting !
