The camp area is located at the entrance to the property with ample room to pitch your tent or manoeuver your RV. There are two communal fire pots on site, wood is on hand via a donation honesty box. There are wonderful fishing, swimming and kayaking options at Merseylea and Kimberley less than 10 minutes’ drive away.
You'll find many opportunities for hiking, with trails suitable for all ages and abilities. The closest dump point is a 9-minute drive to the “Town of Topiary” Railton, where you will find a charming coffee shop, a hotel, post office, a petrol station with a convenience store, a mechanic and a takeaway shop.
Railton boasts the delightful Goliath Park, with multiple recreational activities available including tennis and pickleball courts, a pump track, skate park, covered barbeque and picnic area and playground. Mandy’s property was quiet and peaceful, with a beautiful view of the river. The refreshing swims and clear skies are exactly what every camper wants. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and they even gave our two little ones a ride on an ATV, which they absolutely loved.
The only downsides we encountered (pun intended 🐜) were a swarm of flies, likely due to cattle on neighbouring land across the river, so it’s best to come prepared. There were also a few wasps around—but that’s the outdoors, and it’s to be expected in this type of environment.
Additionally, the channel of the river can create high winds at times, which can be a little aggressive, so keep that in mind when setting up camp.
Overall, it’s a nice spot and a relaxing place to stay.

Fairly protected from the wind with big hill across the river. Water was surprisingly warm. Would highly recommend!

This was a fabulous place to begin my six week camping trip around Tassie. Surrounded by rolling hills, trees and overlooking two beautiful dams, it was perfect! A fire pit was provided, with the option to purchase firewood and kindling on site through an honesty box, so I had a great fire to finish off a wonderful day. Steve was the perfect host with clear and prompt communication and directions. I've rebooked for my return to Devonport. I highly recommend for self-contained vehicles.
