Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish. The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours. We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need. The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it. Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave. Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river) Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by. Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby. A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful! Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat. Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

Dogs are permitted, however strictly on lead only to protect the wildlife and our sheep. If your dog gets very excited around wildlife or sheep, this may not be a suitable stay, since they might come right up to your camp. Please note, that Stringybark is a working property. While we'll always respect your privacy and keep noise levels to a minimum, please be aware that we do work on the land and that tools, building material and other rural property stuff can be present at any time (never on the campsite though). Weekend Trip to Rivers Edge

Andrew, who greeted us on arrival with some of his girls eggs and a load of firewood that lasted our three days and then some if needed, has a delightful spot for enjoying exactly what Tasmania has to offer. The river and yes platypus were spotted, birds, fish and beautiful smells that make relaxation and admiring nature possible. Whilst the weather wasn’t in our favour we still thoroughly enjoyed it and went for bush walks around his property. Close by is wings wildlife park or a little further caves and waterfalls. Loved our stay and thank you for sharing your beautiful spot.

Great cleared camping spot with a fire pit by the river. Lovely produce we picked up when we arrived. Enjoyed spotting the resident platypus each evening.

Weekend Trip to Fairview Farm Ringarooma Tasmania

We failed to follow the directions properly and ended up at Pauline's house. Pauline was friendly and helpful. The track to the campsite is downhill and at times tricky with a 17'6'' caravan but easily navigatable however 20' plus vans may find it challenging. The campsite is by the river and has a fire ring which we used. There is a portaloo further along from the campsite which we did not visit. When camping it is best to drive into the site then easily reverse out when leaving. The only downside to the campsite was that the grass was not cut and the long grass impeded access around the van.

Weekend Trip to Farm on Franklin - Tasmania

We loved our stay at Farm on Franklin, such a beautiful place we were greeted by Sarah at the property and were allowed to pick our own grassy spot by the river. This place is perfect for families and you can bring your pet, fire pots provided and short walks by the river add to the serenity. this place is only 10 minutes from Port Sorell and close to the national park. Easy to follow directions 5 minutes on a gravel road to get to the site, some telstra coverage with semi level sites that only took some minor leveling of our 21 ft van. we would love stay again and would highly recommend to quiet couples travelling with their pets. dump point and woolworths in Port Sorell

We loved camping here, we were also the only people so had the whole place to ourselves! The spot has gorgeous views of farms all around it and it was very easy to find (only 30 mins from Launceston). Would definitely camp here again, thanks so having us.
