Welcome to our home Tanah Merdeka! Enjoy a private and picturesque camp-site by the creek with views of rolling hills, rocky outcrops and ancient gumtrees. Watch the Kangaroos and the birdlife, see if you can spot a yabbee or frog in the creek and sit back and unwind. Tanah Merdeka is a 184 acre cattle farm currently stocked with Black Baldies, Speckle Park, Angus and Hereford. The creek line paddocks are dedicated to Hipcampers, so you can be assured your campsite won't be interrupted by curious cows during your stay. We can't say the same for the wild kangaroos that call Tanah Merdeka home though. Please be respectful of the working nature of the property and shut any gates you go through except for the automatic gates. Please respect our privacy and don't venture up the driveway towards the house. You are welcome to walk through and explore the paddocks containing the creek line. Do not drive across the creek - walking and bicycles only. Please do not feed the wildlife or the cattle and practice leave no trace camping. For stays longer than one night campers must bring a portable chemical toilet. Use only the firepit provided and comply with current fire danger restrictions. Some firewood may be available next to the firepit but please bring your own firewood if intending to have a fire as this can't be guaranteed. Dogs are allowed off lead within the fenced camping paddock but be aware of grass seeds. Please be respectful of our neighbors and the property. Enjoy your stay!

Camping at Kangaroo Creek was lovely! Thomas met us upon arrival and told us about his beautiful land (and his adorable cows!). He was really nice and let us explore the grounds. The camp spot was private, quiet and was great for pitching our tent. We even saw a couple of kangaroos and a lot of cockatoos! The drive there was easy with a 2WD. We would definitely go back, and I can recommend it to everyone regardless of camping style!

Awesome camp in a paddock at Six Strings winery. Did the best tasting we've ever done with Michael, he took us through the whole process of growing through to bottling of his wines. Great base to explore McLaren Vale and surrounds from, and great alternative to a caravan park. Kim gave us some excellent cherries too! Would definitely recommend.

Lovely quiet spot, greeted warmly by Michael. Stayed site 2 located rear the the block, really enjoyed Michaels informative wine tasting, cant help but be caught up in his enthusiasum, enjoyed the wine. Would stay again.

Kim and Michael’s property was a peaceful oasis overlooking the vines. We stayed here for 2 nights with family in 2 vans and loved the open space. Michael gave us a great wine tasting, explaining from start up of their family winery. Perfect location for exploring the McLaren region with Aldi close by for grocery top ups. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Kim and Michael’s vineyard. The outlook and sunsets over the vines is truly beautiful. They were lovely hosts and we got to sample some of their very nice wines which are available for purchase. They will happily assist with suggested places to visit whilst in McLaren Vale. We would highly recommend this Hipcamp.

Kim's land was so gorgeous and flat. Perfect for pitching a tent. The location was excellent, and really close to the beach and nice restaurants. It was so lovely and quiet. We were worried that we'd struggle to camp in the 38 degree heat, but Kim was very friendly and accommodating, and she let us camp under a shady tree on her property which was perfect. We would definitely stay again. Make sure you bring a portaloo!

We camped with 2 kids aged 7 and 4 and all had a great stay. The location is very central to so much the region has to offer and the space for camping is so large that even if someone else is staying it feels like it’s private. The hosts were so friendly giving us a wine tasting from their vineyard and giving us great recommendations of what to see and do. I would highly recommend staying here.

We would definitely come stay again! Beautiful little property, which was quiet and secluded, and so close to nearby wineries, shops and the beach. This was an excellent location. Close to the beach and the vineyards, plus services like supermarkets, dump points etc. The camp itself was a beautiful location, so serene. We did a wine tasting with Michael which we would highly recommend. Not only did we taste some beautiful wines, but we also learnt so much. Michael was incredibly generous with his time and knowledge.
