Welcome to our home Tanah Merdeka! Enjoy a private and picturesque camp-site by the creek with views of rolling hills, rocky outcrops and ancient gumtrees. Watch the Kangaroos and the birdlife, see if you can spot a yabbee or frog in the creek and sit back and unwind. Tanah Merdeka is a 184 acre cattle farm currently stocked with Black Baldies, Speckle Park, Angus and Hereford. The creek line paddocks are dedicated to Hipcampers, so you can be assured your campsite won't be interrupted by curious cows during your stay. We can't say the same for the wild kangaroos that call Tanah Merdeka home though. Please be respectful of the working nature of the property and shut any gates you go through except for the automatic gates. Please respect our privacy and don't venture up the driveway towards the house. You are welcome to walk through and explore the paddocks containing the creek line. Do not drive across the creek - walking and bicycles only. Please do not feed the wildlife or the cattle and practice leave no trace camping. For stays longer than one night campers must bring a portable chemical toilet. Use only the firepit provided and comply with current fire danger restrictions. Some firewood may be available next to the firepit but please bring your own firewood if intending to have a fire as this can't be guaranteed. Dogs are allowed off lead within the fenced camping paddock but be aware of grass seeds. Please be respectful of our neighbors and the property. We loved our stay at Tana Merdeka. Thomas was a great host. The location was great. Close to Mt Pleasant, Birdwood and the Mannum Waterfalls. We camped by the little creek, surrounded by the soothing sound of the frogs and were visited by Kangaroos, rabbits and a fox. We also loved having the site to ourselves. We will definitely book again.

Great spot. Large, flat, grassy space with a fire pit. Far enough from the main road to be super quiet, but close enough to be convenient. The site is visible from the dirt road but we only saw about three cars and a motorbike all weekend. Thomas’s directions are clear and it was easy to find - even in thick fog (Google maps might suggest turning into the paddock early… you can’t. But don’t worry. The real entrance is just a few hundred metres further on) The site has very lush grass, so if it’s been wet or is going to be dewy, rubber boots would be handy. Very peaceful and relaxing, yet still close to Mt Pleasant and surrounds. A great base to explore a beautiful part of the country.

Nice grassy paddock but well mown where you need to park, nice and level for RVs and great spot for a camp fire although we could not have one due to the time of year.

Such a beautiful quiet area to escape city life that seems a million miles away. Beautiful rolling hills, huge gum trees, cockatoos etc. our dog loved it so much she ran til she was exhausted. We’ll be back.

We enjoyed our one night stay at Kangaroo Creek. It was peaceful and spacious - lots of birds to spot. Thomas was helpful to let us know where we could walk to explore the property. Would stay again.

Camping at Kangaroo Creek was lovely! Thomas met us upon arrival and told us about his beautiful land (and his adorable cows!). He was really nice and let us explore the grounds. The camp spot was private, quiet and was great for pitching our tent. We even saw a couple of kangaroos and a lot of cockatoos! The drive there was easy with a 2WD. We would definitely go back, and I can recommend it to everyone regardless of camping style!
