I absolutely loved camping at the plateau. Its such a beautiful serene place. Fantastic for the rugged style camping. The views are spectacular and Jarrod is such a fantastic host. Make sure you have a strong sturdy tent, I recommend a dome tent as the winds can get intense sometimes as your very high up. This style of camping is for experienced campers. I loved every part of it and I will definitely be going up there regularly.

Flat cropping and grazing property with a rise up at the Eastern end where a native forest and scrub exists. There are two creek lines joining to make a single stream with four dams also on the property. Potential for vineyard and with an airfield close by and a quality dirt road running along the Western boundary and a surveyed road along the northern boundary this site makes for easy walking and is within short distances to some of the best cellar doors in the Barossa. Kaiser Stuhl National Park is only a short drive away over the lookout at Mengler’s Hill and the Heyson Trail runs through the hill at the Eastern end. Permission may be needed to access other private properties adjoining, however. Wineries close by include Jacob’s Creek Visitors Centre, Rockfords, Grant Burge Cellar Door, St Hugo’s, Charles Melton, Moorooroo Cellar Door or Jacob’s Creek Retreat. Tanunda is only a 5-10 min drive away where a great range of food outlets and a wider range of cellar doors exist. The helpful staff at the Visitor’s Centre in Murray St can assist with answering questions and most services are catered for in the town’s centre. This site’s location lends itself to quite short or long term stays with close access to the fruits of the Barrosa. There are recharge and excellent public facilities at the Visitor Centre and links to Barossa Balloon Adventures if desired. There are no facilities, so campers must be 100% self-contained, taking all waste and rubbish with them when they leave.

We live in a beautiful hidden valley on 30 acres, We're joined by friendly dogs, horses, alpacas, rabbits, guinea pigs, 2 lovely Camels, 2 cheeky pigs, Galloway cows and chooks, along with the resident wildlife including many birds, kangaroos, koalas, shy owls, and even an echidna! All this, plus beautiful views from atop our hills, right to the lake, and the delightful winter creek complete with frogs. We are close to the McLaren Vale wine region as well as wineries throughout the Hills and 35 minutes to the coast of Victor Harbor. The Greenman Inn is 5 minutes down the road and has wonderful food from Wed to Sun if you do not feel the urge to cook with wood fires for the cold nights or a gorgeous outdoor area for the warmer months. At present, we offer two areas for camping. Topspot which has lovely views and is quite secluded amongst the tree tops. This site is suitable for tents and camper trailers (need reasonable backing skills and 4WD) The Laneway which is close to the babbling creek is suitable for those with a small caravan, or motorhome, 2WD etc, along with tent campers. (but would struggle with large caravans/motorhomes - please check with hosts) (The Lookout/Highview has spectacular views Please note this site is currently closed due to stock rotation.) If you have any doubts about which to book, please ask. AUTUMN/WINTER MONTHS: if we receive considerable rain the trek up to the hill sites could become slippery and not accessible as it is a farm paddock, therefore unfortunately your booking may need to be cancelled. NOTE: On our farm there is limited phone coverage in the valley (The Laneway). Pets are welcome, however, please ensure they are kept under control (unless discussed with the host) at all times. There's a beautiful push bike ride from Riverton to Clare Valley and all the wineries are along the way. Plenty of room at the property for kids to ride their push bikes. Kaiser Stuhl National Park is only a short drive away over the lookout at Mengler’s Hill and the Heyson Trail runs through the hill at the Eastern end. Tanunda is only a 5-10 min drive away where a great range of food outlets and a wider range of cellar doors exist. The helpful staff at the Visitor’s Centre in Murray St can assist with answering questions and most services are catered for in the town’s centre. This site’s location lends itself to quite short or long term stays with close access to the fruits of the Barrosa. There are recharge and excellent public facilities at the Visitor Centre and links to Barossa Balloon Adventures if desired.
