We are located 25 minutes south of Cunnamulla, South West QLD.
We offer seclusion, only taking three to four self-sufficient groups at a time ensuring complete privacy, no shared space. Just the real Outback. Weather permitting.
Your only neighbours out here are the wildlife and our stock.
The camping spot is right beside a dam/bore drain, with good access from the main road, wet weather permitting.
We have an endless supply of Gidgee wood around the camp spot, its the third densest wood in the world, which makes it the ultimate firewood for campers!
You can walk, bird watch, fish, swim or just sit back and soak up the country atmosphere.

There’s new camp kitchen, with a wood stove for the winter months, TV and complimentary tea and coffee. We now have a dump point available for your convenience.
Tambo is a great place to base yourself for a day trip to visit Wilderness Way and Salvator Rosa National Park.
The Visitor information centre and Historic buildings are within walking distance and also have bike tracks near by.
Great meals can be had at the Tambo Tavern.
In season (April to October) check out the Famous chicken races held daily, at the Royal Carrangarra Hotel. The hotel also offers free transfers to and from the races.

Macfarlane is a working Merino sheep and beef cattle operation. It is 24,000 acres (9612 hectares). It predominantly open Mitchell grass downs country with a small acreage of Gidgee scrub. We are on the watershed of the lake eyre catchment system with the murray darling on the other side. We have a wide variety of bird life and native animals.Our seasons vary, sometimes it is drought stricken and others lush. Do not assume by looking at lovely green grass photos that it always look like this. We are new to this game so please be patient as we find our way.We offer accommodation at the shearers quarters and camping.Other than at shearing time our quarters lie idle. The quarters are basic with 8 bedrooms. Each room has 2 beds with a mattress, linen is not provided. There is basic showering and toileting facilities. There is a washing machine. The kitchen has fridges and freezers. There is an oven and a cooktop. There is very limited cooking equipment. It is a 500 metre walk to the house dam. It has commanding views of the surrounding countryside.You can camp or park your campervan/RV at the dam. Feel free to pitch your tent here and simply park your camping vehicle and unwind. This site is dependant on seasonal conditions as to whether or not the dam is full or empty. There are toilets, showers and cooking facilities available at our shearers quarters 500 metres away.

Please note this is a working property - there may be stock around and there is lots of native wildlife. Pets are welcome but we ask you be mindful and they be kept on a leash at all times. The Space
The Plot: A spacious, flat quarter-acre town block featuring authentic red gibber ground - solid and ready for all setups.
Neighbourhood: Friendly neighbours are on one side and across the street. We ask guests to respect the local vibe and keep noise reasonable.
Water Access: A mains water hookup is provided on-site so you can top up your tanks.
Important: You MUST be fully self-contained. Apart from water, there are no power hookups, or on-site toilets/showers. You need your own toilet, shower, power supply, and waste setup. The dump point is a minute's drive away.

Park the vehicle and stretch your legs - everything is a flat 5-10minute walk away.
The Birdsville Hotel: One of the world's iconic pubs is in your backyard! Stroll down for an icy beer and a hearty meal, with a short wander home.
The Birdsville Bakery: At the end of the street, breakfast and lunch are sorted. Fuel up with coffee and grab a legendary Curried Camel Pie.
Public Amenities: The local Visitor Info Centre and well-maintained public toilets are also at the end of the street.

This was an epic station stay, you felt like you were in the middle of Australia, a long way from anyone and everything.

Camped at the dam site in a clear area resting and relaxing with fire at night and plenty of stars and satellites to view.
Had visits from Donkey, mob of Sheep plus Kangaroos and Emus and a resident Peregrine Falcon.
The area has been dry this year so Dam was very low.

Gretel Cattle yard site was large, very private and serene. Host David gave excellent site directions via text, including how to set up the artisan hot tub. All messages were answered directly. Throughly enjoyed our afternoon and night here. Some neighbouring sheep, cattle and 3 visiting Brolgas made it more rurally pleasant.

It’s very private, we were the only ones there. The cattle are very inquisitive, sunset and sunrise are lovely and you hardly notice the road noise 600m away. There is no body of water there despite the pictures. And whilst they may be flushing toilets, I left one to the 6 or so green tree frogs who are obviously very at home there, and the other had not been cleaned for a very long time. So best to be self sufficient with shower and toilet at this spot.

We had a lovely stay here. Huge big area with bbq, showers, toilets and bins. Far enough in from the road where there is no traffic noise. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Great information boards with the history of the property and Banjo Patterson. Would definitely stay again.
