We have 33 acres that we have been working on for the last 15 months to try and create our own slice of freedom.
We have the goal of becoming as self sufficient as possible and currently we are producing a large amount of our own food. We have a massive array of animals and always are having new additions, which is always exciting. We are open to people coming to just experience what we have created or even getting their hands dirty. We have learnt so much coming here and are happy to pass on what ever knowledge that we have gained but also open to learn from you all too.
We are located about 40mins from Agnes Water and are super connected to the amazing Agnes community. We have a couple of areas that power can be tapped into and also a second outside bathroom that is welcomed to be used.

Hogback is a 2000 acre nature refuge and run as a cattle operation, emphasis in sustainability, in native forest. This property is the perfect getaway, and a photographers dream, you can do as little or as much as you like. The seasonal creek draws the wildlife to the area making this a birdwatchers paradise, sit back and watch the wedgetail eagles soar as the red-tailed black cockatoos serenade the afternoon away.This unique property has inland and coastal fall making it home to several ecosystems, including the semi-permanent waterfall. If you're looking for a bit more than the usual campsite then bring the gold pans and the detectors because we are located at the base of the Mt Rawdon gold mine. Many a yarn will be told of the gold that can be found in the hills around.A fantastic place to bring the family and the 4 legged friends (on leads as this is a working property). We also have a small barbed wire paddock available for horses by request. Campers will enjoy bush walking, bird watching and swimming in the swimming holes on the property.
Your hosts Bruce and Sharon would be more than happy to show you around their property. You may get to see cattle getting processed in the yards the dogs working or even see some cutting show horses being worked.
You are welcome to pick your own spot to set up camp. Access is 4wd only and there are no amenities, so you'll need a self contained off-road set up.
Good bore water available.

We had 1 night at Makowata Farm and it was lovely. We wouldn’t hesitate to return again. The night sky here was the best we’ve ever experienced - I truly recommend a stay. The shower on site was also really enjoyable!

We loved our little stay last night. The place was so peaceful and calming and we felt so welcome instantly. Darryl went out of his way to take us and our kids to see the tiny lambs that were just born so we could have a cuddle. And we got to walk through his incredible food forest. It felt like we were chatting to an old friend. Thanks, Darryl… we’ll see you on our way back :-)

Our stay was absolutely stunning highly recommend dropping in. Sion his dad and the boys were so welcoming and open to teaching us about their journey so far. Had a lovely experience here, getting to bottle feed donut was a highlight for us and the mangoes are deadset the best I've ever tasted, thanks for having us.
