The Monto Caravan and Cabin Park is a birdwatchers paradise with over 90 species of birds being documented in the park. We welcome 4 legged visitors. We are only 12 klms from the Cania Gorge National Park where you can experience rainforest walks, sandstone cliffs, wonderful scenery and more. The town of Monto is a friendly, quaint, rural town on Australia's Country Way (A3) and is home to a wide variety of historical, cultural and artistic experiences in the North Burnett. Monto is the northern and youngest town in the North Burnett and is situated approximately 200 km west of the coastal cities of Bundaberg and Gladstone.
Monto is one of the newest towns in Queensland having come into existence as recently as 1924 when, under the Land Development Scheme, larger properties were resumed and prime agricultural land was provided, in smaller lots, to soldiers who had returned from World War I.
Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the area around Monto was home to people from the Gureng Gureng Aboriginal language group.
Enjoy some good old country hospitality and 'tucka' at 1 of 2 town pubs. In town, you will find cafes, great coffee shops, supermarkets, Australia Post, banking, pharmacies, and a variety of other shops. There is also a medical center and a hospital. Bowls and golf can be enjoyed whilst visiting Monto.

We had a wonderful experience at Fig Tree Camp. The hosts are incredibly supportive, caring, and friendly, which made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The campsite is very clean, well-secured, and well-maintained, giving us great peace of mind throughout our stay.
The surroundings are absolutely picturesque — a beautiful natural location perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The friendly animals around the camp added a special touch, especially for families and nature lovers.
Everything was thoughtfully organized, and you can really feel the care the hosts put into the place. This is one of the best Hipcamp stays in Queensland, and we would love to visit again without hesitation.

We were truly grateful for the warm welcome from Colin, who greeted us as soon as we arrived. The fantastic views, friendly farm animals, and the three loving ponies created a wonderful atmosphere that made our stay so memorable. The level site made our setup a breeze, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time there. We had a fantastic experience and can’t wait for our next visit to explore more of this beautiful haven. I had such a lovely stay at Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat! The hosts were so kind, they made sure we had everything we needed. They provided great information and maps of both the campground and surrounding area, which made it super easy to explore and find everything. The grounds were peaceful and well kept, and it was so nice to see so many different birds around the camp as well. Definitely a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy nature. Highly recommend! 🌿🕊️

If you’re looking for a quiet, off-grid getaway in the North Burnett region, this is it! We stayed for one night and left wanting to stay longer! We will definitely be coming back to enjoy it again. Stunning views and lots of farm animals roaming around that you can even pat them. Colin, the host, is an adorable human being and lovely person to have a chat with. Toilets and hot showers are amazing, super clean.
Lots of site to choose from when not busy, all of them with fire pits.

We absolutely adored our stay at Fig Tree Camp! Unreal views, friendly animals coming through to hang out at our site (Pancake the Shetland Pony and the lovely gentleman duck were definitely crowd favourites!), gold mining & a very hospitable host - Col was fantastic, super informative and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Great amenities to top it off, we will 1000% be coming back😄

Can’t ask for more, far enough away to completely switch off but close enough to Gin Gin for all the essentials.
Colin was a great host with good ideas to continually improve what is a great place to stay.
Flushing toilets, hot showers and many animals to say hello too everyday.
Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone.

We were able to find our own sites in the unpowered site area and we found a beautiful, peaceful spot under trees at the back. Very happy with our stay. Friendly and helpful hosts. Can have your own fire or use a communal one. Firewood available to purchase or there are numerous farms along the way that sell it. A little bit of a hike to the toilets but doable. Would absolutely stay again.
