Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans. If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction. Welcome to Emu creek Retreat One of the best destinations for hiking, camping, bushwalking, swimming, Kayaking, fishing, mountain bike riding (bicycles only), bird watching, 4wdriving and even fossicking, since the old gold mining town "Lunatics" was not far away from us. Dogs, men's best friend, are definitely welcome. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m deep waterfall, nature at it's best. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in the 90's was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Bajimba Eco Camp is part of our stunning family property nestled in the surrounds of Mt Bajimba in the Northern Tablelands of NSW, 40 minutes south east of Tenterfield. Historically known as a resting point for bullock teams hauling timber from the surrounding forests on their way to a saw mill in the lower valley, Bajimba is now home to Merv & Carey. We are just over 1080 metres above sea level, with 57 acres of eucalypt & grass tree forests, grass pastures, and a small (but mighty) organic farm. Accommodation options include "West View “situated at our highest elevation with incredible views from the deck, and "Bullock Camp" which can accommodate tents, caravans or motor homes. When making travel arrangements, note we are in NSW and therefore are 1 hour ahead of QLD during day light savings months. It is encouraged if possible that guests arrive before 6pm to ensure a smooth and stress free check in to camp. Being able to experience the sunset is all a part of your Bajimba stay! Amenities for both sites include an ablution block with hot shower and composting toilet, with steam sauna and wood-fired hot tub available by appointment. Please call at time of booking if hot tub and sauna facilities are required (especially for same-days bookings). Wood fired hot tubs require four hours to heat appropriately. We share the property with lots of wildlife, and with our resident cows. There is currently only one camping site accessible by car (the River Block), but if you're up for a trek we can point you to the back hills where you'll find a whole other world. Your hosts live further back on the property so you can find us if you need help. Please note there is no mobile reception, so it is a great way to get away from it all. There are no bins here... please remove all your rubbish on departure. Campfires are welcome (when no fire ban). You can bring your own firewood, or gather what fallen timber you can find. One of the most thoughtful, private & romantic escapes! Merv and his wife have done a beautiful job at creating a unique escape that mixes comfort & romance with nature & back-to-basics. Fresh eggs from their chickens and a bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch. The tent comes equipped with everything you’d need to enjoy your stay, including warm ponchos for the cooler months. The hot sauna & hot tub under the stars is a MUST DO! We didn’t want to get out! The absolute cherry on top is that this is all dog friendly - such a rare find but it made our stay even more special to be able to share it with our fur-baby. We will be back! Thank you again.

Merv's place was the perfect weekend getaway! He's thought of everything and was the perfect host! The bell tent was so cosy and warm with loads sweet extras like got water bottles and DELICIOUS home made relish, the sauna and hot tub were sublime under the starry sky, and the views onto the ranges are magnificent. We didn't mind the cold winter weather at all, it was the perfect reset we had been craving! Our doggo had a blast cruising around too. Highly recommend!

Had an awesome time here even with the wet weather this weekend- the tent was still cosy and warm. Our host was super helpful and friendly, even gave us a buggy to explore the olive farm which was a great touch. The platter was epic, and we were given plenty of firewood to keep warm at night. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a chilled getaway with a bit of extra charm.

You have to try the Brushtales Bush Cabin hosted by Jess to believe it. My son and I planned on camping, but the long range weather forecast predicted ridiculously low temperatures and a chance of showers, so we upgraded to Jess' cabin. Talk about having everything we needed. Hot showers, wood fire, warm beds and everything that the fully kitted out cabin had to offer. We really didn't need to bring anything! I was very disappointed when my son discovered NBN internet access. My son, not so much! 😀 Like others before me, I am already planning a return trip in the near future. Thanks. John.

3 nights at BAJIMBA Eco Camping and Farm Stay
Where do I start! My partner and I visited Merv & Carey’s beautiful bell tent at Bajimba eco camp with our dog Murphy for our anniversary getaway this winter. From the moment we got there, we were in awe of the painted landscape and the sense of calm that filled us each day, I only regret we hadn’t booked for the whole week! Our mornings were spent watching the birds dance around the trees and the wallaroos peep at us from the tall grass, and the evenings treated us to burning sunsets and red wine while we turned our potatoes in the fire. There’s a little gas stove and some crockery, and some homemade leech repellant too (which came in handy). Oh, and those fresh eggs for brekky were no joke! So delicious 🤤 We were also lucky enough to have a little rain while we used the wood-fired sauna & hot tub, a feeling of relaxation I won’t soon forget 😍 We had such a wonderful time at Bajimba we can’t stop yapping to everyone we know all about it - we just can’t wait to come back! Thank you again to Merv & Carey for everything ❤️ you have such a beautiful property and you’re doing some amazing work there!!

You couldn’t hesitate giving Merv and his glamping a 5 star review! Wow - better than expected even too. Everything you need for an off grid beautifully private sanctuary. We had lovely sunny and freezing days, but it was soooo cosy in the tent and what a novelty the fire inside the tent. We had the best weekend thanks Merv :-)

We had such an amazing time. The property is so well kept amenities were clean. Everything we needed was available on site and we are super happy with the customer service provided by Katie. She even gave us a tour of the property and left us a golf buggy to get around the property. The olive platter was delicious and the sunset was amazing. We will definitely visit again soon.
