The best camping near Daly River

·

The small town of Daly River, a popular fishing and swimming spot in the Top End, sits beside the river of the same name. Daly River camping can be a bit of a detour from the main north–south Northern Territory thru-route, but outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the diversion. There are a wide range of camping options along the Daly River, from simple sites to caravan parks with pools, and many outdoor activities. Beyond formal caravan parks, some sites have basic facilities such as fire pits, toilets, and drinking water, but others are total bush camps, so come well prepared. Swim at a refreshing waterhole, luxuriate in the Douglas Hot Springs, and fish for barramundi. Daly River even hosts a couple of annual dry-season fishing festivals and the town gets especially busy at this time.

For most of the year it is open for swimming. There are also several other smaller water holes nearby. Most water attractions are accessible by car.
