Weekend Trip to Jila Camp Grounds

upgraded the facilities from the last time i went, even though i loved it before now its even better. The road down has been smoothed down and my Audi A5 survived the decent. They now have toilets not the porterloo ones. It was beautiful and peaceful, the river and abundance of wood for making a nice fire was delightful. I look forward to coming back a lot sooner now.

What a spot! We had a group of 8 with 4 different camping arrangements a combo of camper trailers, tents and roof top tents. It housed us all perfectly. The public toilet amenities and camp sinks were very handy and tidy. The river is absolutely gorgeous and so clear. We floated and paddle boarded down, slowly walking back up stream. There are a lot of fire spots to choose from however some are very close to each other. We had another group of about 10 about 50m away however they could have come closer if they chose to which wouldn’t have been fun. The sites were clean and in great locations! Phil was so easy to communicate with and the toilets got tidied daily. From what we could see the glamping tents/showers/toilets and cooking facilities that come with them were pretty epic too. Liked how there was recycling and bins on the property. Thanks for a fab stay.

Great campsite not far from the city. Easy to get to and good communication from the host. Beautiful river and beach for kids to play in. Spacious camp sites and flushing toilets. No firewood provided however you can find lots of kindling and small branches.

Lovely spot to camp up, lots of space between sites. My husband and I took our campervan over a weekend at the end of March and spent the warm afternoon by the creek. Use of fire pits also a plus. Will come back!

The river was beautiful we loved floating down there on lilos with the kids although some of the short cut tracks were a bit dodgy I'd recommend walking the long way down from near the shed as it's not as steep and you don't have to climb over logs. Look it's a very basic site there are flushing toilets and a sink with cold water but no shelter so have to BYO as we ended up cooking in the rain which was difficult. I did think it was really expensive for what it is but it was lovely and it's dog friendly so I'd consider going again and taking him anyway. Much nicer vibe than a caravan park with all the lovely trees. We had trouble with someone running a noisy generator which made it impossible to sleep but drove up the hill to get reception to check if they were allowed (no) and texted owner and he came down and fixed it straight away. It had a lovely communal feel everyone had kids and dogs and they were all playing together, byo firewood you are allowed to collect from site but it's picked clean. I think for the money they should put in a camp kitchen at least with some shelter and basic gas BBQs and seating so hopefully that's in the plan. There is a shed that could convert but it's got kayaks and floaties. The glamping area has a kitchen. Oh also don't worry about the reviews about the road being for 4wds they've regraded it and it's fine. Our neighbours were worried about getting the caravan up in the rain but our 2wds had no issue even after rain all night.

My little family had a lovely weekend at De View, Colo. The campsite was large, spacious and freshly mowed and within easy walking distance of the river and amenities. Yara was exceptionally helpful in helping us with a suitable site and greeting my husband on arrival. We would not hesitate in recommending Yara's property and will most definitely be back soon for another stay

The river was safe for the kids. We stayed one night and the weather was lovely on the day we arrived and it was raining at night and the next morning. Lovely to listen to the rain while sleeping in a tent.

We went camping at Jila Campground. It’s a very nice and calm place, with acceptable toilets located in various areas of the campsite. It’s near the Grose River, which had clear water during our stay. We forgot to bring our own firewood, but Phillip, the host, helped us gather some wood, loaded it into his ute, and brought it to our fire pit. Of course, it is not his duty, but it shows he truly deserves to be the host of a campground, ensuring that campers enjoy their stay. The grass was well-kept, and there were fire pits available everywhere. We will definitely go back with firewood, a kayak, and, of course, more drinks!

Great spot! River was fantastic for kids to play and easy access from camp sites. Amenities (with hot showers!) also clean and well serviced with soap and toilet paper all the time. Campsites good size for number of people and nicely separated from each other. We’re definitely keen to come back!

EASTER 2025 FULLY BOOKED ANZAC WEEKEND FULLY BOOKED Beautiful property, nestled into the Colo Valley, next to the pristine Colo River. We have cleared grassy paddocks, some shady areas, and access to the Colo River, one of the most pristine rivers in NSW. Our river access is normally shallow, well suited to young families or those who just want to lay back and enjoy a quiet refreshing dip. Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and star gazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks. We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large spaces with varying distance between sites to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If you are planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. (Saturday night 2 night minimum) Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, please check with Hosts prior to booking, as conditions and a charge applies. Please ADD EXTRA at checkout for dogs... $20 per dog per visit There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. There are fire drums available on each site, most with grill plates - subject to RFS bush fire danger ratings on the day. There are three communal flushing toilets and two awesome hot water showers! ALL waste is to leave with you! There are local bush walks through National Parks and great places for mountain bike riding although be mindful of holiday traffic in peak times on our local dirt roads. Located at Bilpin, this beautiful campsite is nestled at the foot of the majestic Blue Mountains and backs onto Wollemi National Park. This magical 16 acres is abundant with wildlife and where you camp is the mouth to the beginning of some great hiking tracks in the National Park! There are a few great campsites to choose from- one at the top of the property (good for families/large groups up to approx 20) with good flat ground and surrounded by a lush forest. It's close to the road so it is easy access in and out, another two at the back with water views and one in the forest (If you have 4wd and portable loo we can give you an exclusive spot in the bottom of the golden gorge). Enjoy the sounds of the bubbling stream and see the sunset at the waterhole. Sit back and relax around the campfire whilst toasting a marshmallow or some damper. This campsite offers a unique heptagonal toilet (no shower yet but its on the way). Please ensure you're fully self sufficient with all other supplies (including water). From here you can explore the amazing Blue Mountain views, marvel at a magical glow worm dell, check out the 2 apple cider breweries and taste some of the region's delicious produce. Colo River is 30 mins away, a clear waterhole is 10 min drive ( 4wd only- hosts can transport if available), the mouth of a hiking trail to the National Park is on the property, the main township of Bilpin is close by with the baker, fruit and vege picking, Mountain Bells Cafe (host recommendation), apple pies galore and the restaurant , the markets are on Saturday morning 10-12 noon at the local hall and there is a free meditation group 9am Sunday at the monastery. With so much to do you will need more than one night or plan a return visit to the amazing Mountain Lagoon Hideaway at Bilpin! We can also offer massage and reiki treatments on site as a 'nature immersion' experience or if you prefer it can be in the privacy of a massage studio (10 mins away), guided nature and wildlife walks/sunset walks or longer hikes, professional ecology tours, fire twirling lessons or performance and African drumming lessons, games for the kids, local produce hampers, eggs and BBQS (with notice and if hosts are available). Please discuss with your hosts for further details and availability :) PLEASE ensure you read rules and safety as well as directions, because GPS will take you to the wrong property. The land is a nature retreat and developing animal rescue sanctuary so we love to share the space with respectful nature loving people :) Our motto is leave no trace. Fire must be put out if you 1) Leave the site each day 2) Each night before bed and 3) When you leave completely. We are 1.5 hrs from Sydney. On arrival you will feel the atmosphere of this wilderness area. Colo River Hut is located adjacent to the Colo River. A beautiful, unspoiled location on a pristine river. With it's own private beach and over 400 metres of riverfront. We are on the opposite side of river from the the Wollemi National Park. The hut sits (alone) within the eastern (10 acre paddock) of our property. There are no walls and so you have permanent views across the paddock to large sandstone cliffs and we are less than 30 metres from the riverbank. The Hut has a rustic tin roof, a large bench area with power points and task lighting. Tents or swags can be set up within the Colo River Hut. Or, if you wish, you can set up your tent or camper or small caravan adjacent to the Hut. There is plenty of room as there is a maximum of 6 guests (and 3 vehicles) with each booking. The Hut has a raised hardwood timber floor and enclosed composting toilet and hot/cold shower facilities. It also has ceiling fans for airflow and insect control. We provide a gorgeous shaded area under a large tree with valley views, with a large bbq table and chairs and fire pit (with grill) for your enjoyment. Firewood is also provided. Suitable for swimming, canoes, bikes, Bass fishing, and hiking, the Colo River Hut can be as active or relaxing as you wish. The Colo River Valley remains largely undiscovered, and is on the edge of the Wollemi wilderness. The Colo is fed by the Wolgan and Capertee Rivers. It has a long history and retains much of its' early unspoiled charm.

This cute off grid original pop-top retro caravan is available on the bank of the Colo River @ DeView Colo River Campground with shared private river access only metres away. This little beauty is simple, with character. For singles or couples. Kayaks can be hired and paddling the Colo River a must! An amazing place to watch and listen to the wildlife and take in the stars with so much more to discover. Caravan is equipped with: * a small solar setup to power some lights and USB chargers. * Kitchenette * Double bed (and optional fold down single bed) * Gas Fridge * 2 Burner gas stove * Fire pit A short walk away there are flushing toilets and an awesome hot water shower. No power available on site. No generators or loud music/behavior so you can fully appreciate nature. There is no mobile reception or internet access therefore provides the true off-grid retreat. Telstra towers are 5km up and down the road with all mobile reception approx 10km back towards town. There is a fire pit available for use subject to RFS bush fire danger ratings on the day. Firewood is available to purchase at $30 per BIG bag!! ALL WASTE is to leave with you as we do not have a rubbish pick up. A double kayak is available for hire at $70 or stand-up paddle boards at $40 each both for 4 hours. We are happy to help transport you if you wish for an extra $20 to have a paddle or float down the river providing the river is high enough to do so.
